Golden Dragon - If you’re around I’m just wondering if you’re going to Digital Life this weekend?
There’s a character in Mighty Final Fight that has a cap like Rolento and also a scar in his face. His name is “SERGE”. I don’t think he appeared in any other Final Fight game did he?
In Mighty Final Fight, doesn’t Sodom have a brother named Gomorrah?
Oh, and the street fighter blog about the SOTA series figures mentions that he asked Capcom about Skullomania and they replied that Arika owned him. Not that we didn’t know that already, of course. I guess it gets rid of that silly rumour that Capcom brought the EX characters, at least.
I don’t think there is a Gomorrah, there’s just one Sodom with a blue helmet and another one with a red one. That was SFIIV I think.
Kind of ironic since last year Sota had a fan poll of the site’s favorite SF characters and the SF EX characters were included. Of course Sota themselves didn’t organize the poll, members did.
About Mighty Final Fight, there is a character or two unique to that game only, Serge is one of them, another is Tekira. When the game was released outside of Japan, any unique characters were renamed after the originals in the first Final Fight: Serge possibly became Axl, Tekira became El Gado, and so forth. There’s also a third Sodom in the game with a gray helmet. I don’t think any of them was named Gomorrah, but as folks said earlier Gomorrah was one of the characters in SF2V.
Only two more accounts left in the Dash pre-mook, here’s Chun Li’s:
Chun Li from Gamest SF2D
Daughter of the Narcotics Investigations Division
Once her father was, the Narcotics Investigation Division’s man of ability referred to as the going-in-ten-fingers for China.
With him having practiced kenpo, from whatever practice of impossibility said to be a duty yet surely able to be settled he returned. But, such was his inanimate nature of fate that could not be opposed. He flew to that taken special appointment of a private investigation overseas, that’s all there is and it was such that the news was severed there.
Young Chun Li loved her father very much. The extent of days without a home was numerous, whenever she waited for him to come back he returned with presents from various countries, the neighborhood was enlivened with humorous matters. Because father certainly wanted to keep close to home whenever the time existed.
The encounter with fighting moves was also of course passed on through her loving father. Since she was naturally carefree her father taking leave as well as that friend’s pursuit of knowledge the matters were without understanding. Everyone’s tongue even rolled about the carrying of that agile body of hers, “As one would expect of the Chung family’s daughter” would be the applause.
In time she grew from a little girl to a woman, that flesh growth exceeded without use, agility was the plus for characteristic technique development. Especially that charming point from which the beauty of leg lines is called forth “hyakuretsu kick” with, the agile and reality stretching progressed legs’ utilized centrifugal force “spinning bird kick”, she waited for her father to show him her wonderous might.
But, nevertheless she remained in place unaffected, utilizing the strength of her opponents to bounce back with the intense throw move “koshuutou”, the thick femur felt enemy face trampling “yousoukyaku”, the opponents’ significant strike “sanshokukeri” the at-will one-after-the-other move in progress, certainly exchanging blows on par with her master father, occasionally overwhelming such that the extent of her skillfulness was seen.
Setting Out as a Fighting Stylist
With her father suddenly unaccounted for, her dawning driven personality strangely became a complete change, from the might of her natural spirit, such that attitude was completely unshown. Far from that, not left behind with being entrusted the official facility of her father’s investigations and, that being the case she aspired to be a police detective.
"As for father’s circumstances, I will show that they will be found out!"
With Chun Li having become a detective, during continuing investigations also turned into a failure for continuing the pursuit of knowledge of fighting techniques.
For the sake of a continued rigorous search and also the case of a stiff body to consider for a necessity, combined with a diet it would be for her daily work. But being reckless, for her that capacity became the matter of opening her heart. Why then, in order for her moves to be excessively mighty, that is from the repression about her father. However, with her strong spirit, finishing off challenged opponents with outgoing limb assaults, taken aback from charmed spirit, for a short while the matter is believed to return. But, on the other hand, even if it seemed that electricity ran from the trailing slope of the framed nape hurriedly declares agreeable sensation, no matter what she’s also a fighting stylist.
After that, coming to know of the existence of the world-famous mysterious organization “Shadoloo”, as for that organization, the source of her father’s unaccounted-for status became an intensified incident desiring distinguished participation. And so, the wirepulling rumored man called “Vega”, referred to as far as the fighting king, the arm of the fighting stylist will rise for this…
“Let’s go!” For Chun Li, she’s resolved to set out. Travel expenses probably came out of investigation title outlays. Within reach of gradually defeating famous fighting stylists of various countries, at any rate she should be struggling on to Vega! And also, show with complete means to find out about father’s whereabouts! With simply that thought, at the occasion to the extent of strong opponents defeated, how much feeling is alright…Chun Li considered.
The journey for Chun Li of the Investigations Division now, has merely begun.
I’ve recently been finally communicating with Piero who wrote the Italian SF article from the site The First Place, and pieced together info on the three mystery pics there, a scowling Dan, a Guy/Kairi looking sketch, and a prototype T. Hawk with the headress. Two down, one to go. Never thought to check the SFEX Secret File I did. Now if Piero can just get back to me on where that Dan sketch was from.
Next time, Zangief and possibly the full circle on Ojou-san. A comic, oooold sources, the master’s daughter, SF1: the keywords to discovery. The plot guide, Saiki, TAS: as skillful as Capcom are they in leaving hints but not flat out stating how things are. Let’s see if sano will brush up any more forgotten surprises with the remnants of the old Warriors Fate thread. Thanks as always for reading minna-san!
Wait: There are folks didn’t know tht the American Indian in the headress was a rejected SFEX character and not T.Hawk?
Yes, because back when someone (might have been aerialgroove I don’t remember) found the pic in Piero’s article, I didn’t remember anyone speaking up and saying where or what it was from. Plus Piero hardly dipped into the EX series for his article, so I didn’t think to look in any EX series sources.
Without the SFEX Secret File, I wouldn’t know that the character was planned to be in SFEX but was rejected, and without Piero’s article I wouldn’t have known that he was originally a Hawk prototype for SSF2, or that he was further inspiration in developing Darun. The cursives next to the sketch aren’t the easiest to read. I can make out “Thunder” on top, but for me it’s quite a stretch to see the bottom read “Hawk.”
He’s actually called El Gado in the official Japanese guide if I remember correctly.
Great post about Chun-Li!
Oh really? The name Tekira I saw from the premier of Club Capcom which you should have also. Maybe a last minute change? Doesn’t matter much either way I guess.
Glad you liked it. Think people will ever start calling her Chun Li Chung? Probably not, but I’m sure Edayan used the sentence when drawing Chun Li’s novel pic with her officer’s badge.
Sorry but could you list all sources that call her Chung or are these two the only ones? Thanks!
SF2 Dash Gamest issue #77 (account above, the daughter of the Chung family so her father’s last name is Chung), and the pic’s in several places: the Wani Books SFZ Chun Li novel, Eternal, a nice big version in the US SFA2 guide. No problem.
Hey guys I just figured I’d let you know that Udon released the Street Fighter Eternal Challenge book in English. I saw it in my comic store today…I snagged one real quick…figured I’d let you all know…
vasili10:
The reason I found that surprising is because I thought we had all gone through all the secret files on Arcade Flyers. I have a bunch of SFEX secret files from there, and the only reason I know about them is because I found out about them from this thread (I think?).
I didn’t see when someone mentioned anything about “Piero’s article” or whatever, cause otherwise I would have said something sooner.
So wait: Was the head-dressed indian fellow a prototype T.Hawk in addition to being a rejected EX character, or was proto Hawk a different character?
How about those other awful AWFUL designs from the EX secret files, anyway?
Hmm… so Chun-Li’s last name is Chung, now? Well… maybe it’s one of those ‘forgotten’ facts.
On a random note, Ingrid is now officially a Street Fighter character (as opposed to… I dunno, a nonStreet Fighter character being a guest in the latest SFA3 port, I guess). I saw on the SOTA message boards Jerry of SOTA saying that the Street Fighter license actually DOES include and allow them to make figures of Ingrid if they wanted to (not that they will, of course).
On an unrelated random note, the other 10 Dolls will be coming out too, because they’re “easy to do because they’re head swaps” (might mean they won’t come with their accessories, though). Sometimes it’s good to be a fan of a bunch of head swaps, I suppose
TiamatRoar - Mind if I quote this for me and vasili10’s CFE Faq? We have an Ingrid section there and stuff(whenever I get around to updating it, hopefully soon…)
Sure, go ahead. Although it’d probably be better if I actually saved the link to where Jerry said it (I didn’t. You might be able to find it buried in the Ask SOTA thread at the action figures message board, though. Pretty sure I saw it there)
Heh, your name is bigger than Jerry’s at Gamefaqs. Plus I’m lazy and I’d have to ask Jerry for permission and I’m not sure how that would go lol! Better to say you said he said… will give him a nod in the special thanks section of the faq too just in case.
Hey vasili10, I’m in the middle of updating the CFE Faq and hopefully I will be able to send you more stuff tommorow. Sorry, but I just have to ask. Could these quotes have been reversed? I only ask because I think it would make more sense if it was Demitri talking about blood and if Ryu was telling Demitri he lacks something, I dunno.
On a completely unrelated note, I was quite surprised when I found out the main character of War of the Grail was called Arthur. Although he seems to be inspired more by Arthur of the legend and less by Arthur of Ghouls and Ghosts. Of course the two don’t look much alike though.
I understand, and I probably had gone through all the Capcom Secret Files at the Arcade Flyers Archive way back when I learned about that website, and long since forgot about those sketches there.
According to Piero and the guy who sent him a translation of the interview about developing EX characters, the headdressed Indian is a prototype T. Hawk from Capcom’s SSF2 sketchbooks that was rejected by the Arika team but still inspired Darun’s development and completion. I don’t know if any other rejected designs later led to selectable characters, but another sketch on the upper right corner of the Secret File’s page (same page as the Indian’s sketch) shows a Guy-like character I had also forgotten about in the EX File.
