I don’t know about supporting the idea of him winning SF2, but the CFJ quote certainly seems to point towards him having beaten Ryu…sad…
Any new news or pics of the new SF anime? Someone posted a link here, but I can’t find it…

First here are the quotes in question:
I don’t think so.
If anything it suggests that while Guile may have ‘won’ their match if they had one in the tournament, Ryu let him win or didn’t fight at full strength. And Guile apparently knows Ryu let him win. Hence his reference to not getting any pleasure because he knows Ryu threw the fight.
If Ryu did intend no show for their match of threw their fight to let Guile win, than I believe Ken did the same as he has no reason to fight either unless Ryu beat Ken beforehand.
Also just going by their quotes, it seems plausible that Guile did defeat Chun li in the tournament as well.
I thought Guile’s quote to Ryu refers to the number of times that they’ve both appeared in a game together. MOre along the lines of “What? I’m fighting you AGAIN?” rather than anything story related.
Yeah, that’s tha vibe I got.
That could be too.
The funny thing is Ryu is the one referring to Guile’s fist as ‘losing’ for some reason, I think. He maybe referring to something else.
On the other hand, it does seem more likely that Guile and Ryu fought in the tournament.
The dojo is also a temple, just as Shaolin is a martial arts dojo as well as a monastery, although the religion was there before the martial arts.
Geki’s sentence gives his motivation for entering as well as for continuing to fight, confirmed in both AAC and the Complete File. He continues to fight in order to make known in the world the power of the ninja, being of ninja descent.
In any source describing Joe he’s labeled as a martial arts “back champion.” About the best I can interpret this is that he excels in rear thrown attacks, such as backfists like Guile’s, and sobats like Dee Jay’s.
This mostly for me to correct myself if I made an error a long time ago, back when we wanted to confirm that Chun Li’s style is a form of tai chi chuan. AASFZ3 says that her style is a Northern school art. I thought back then that the article in my encyclopedia was wrong when it said that tai chi was the southern style in Chinese martial arts, and Shaolin kung fu was the northern one, due to what AASFZ3 said. It turns out that neither source was incorrect, my interpretation was. The tai chi styles still practiced today are all from an original “northern school”, so named because the style really began to flourish once it was spread to regions north of its birthplace, the Wudang Monastery quite a ways south of the Shaolin Monastery. So I apologize if I posted that Shaolin is the southern style of Chinese martial arts, and tai chi is the northern. It’s the other way around. My bad.
Thank you, sir!
Dou itashimashite minna san! (You’re welcome everyone!). And keep reading, I will have Honda’s account done sometime soon, next few days hopefully.
Vasili10, since you got the complete file, is the dog of FF related to Guile’s dog or is that just a joke (don’t know their names)?
What is Balrog’s and Geki’s connection? Thank you very much and if you don’t have time just ignore me.
Aside from the fact that they’re both claw-wielding ninja and the rumor/speculation that Geki’s the one who taught Balrog ninjutsu, none really. Plz feel free to correct me if I missed somethin’.
sano, why there be a plus sign next to your name?
Guile’s or rather Chris’ dog Sub is friends with Shiro from Final Fight. Balrog and Geki are claw rivals; that is, they’re equal to each other in terms of skill with the claw. You’ll see also that Honda and Chun Li are such rivals. Sure thing.
I can’t see it, must have something to do with the rep system as in you can see it but I can’t, I dunno. maybe it’s like how I can see the scale on my post but on no one else’s, but that’s the rep system again… try hovering your mouse over the plus sign and see if it says anything I guess.
I assume “back champion” would be former or past champion, but who knows.
About the Ryu/Guile quotes…looking at it again, the transation for Guile’s made me think it was sort of solemn, ut it could be something more like “I never get tired of a great match/victory” etc, which would lean more toward Ultima’s interpretation.
Also, Ryu’s…“that,” in Ryu’s quote. I thought he was talking about himself in the past-tense, seeing as how the translations are a little rough, but in Japanese, (using either"sore" or “sono,” probably), he was talking about Guile…maybe? Maybe it was “ano,” and he WAS speaking in the past tense? That would be odd though, right? The polishing part is what confuses me… When I thought he was speaking about himself, I assumed he meant that he had been practicing. Maybe he switches to talking about himself there? Or, maybe he says that he’s refining Guile’s technique? (the hard way)
Thank you very much, that’s interesting. If the dogs are friends they might live in the same area.
re: Joe
I’ve heard from elsewhere that Joe was a master of “back kicks” (i.e. sobats), and a number of his kicks in SF1 are like that, including his lone special POWAH kick. So I’m going with the “back champion” = “master of back-turned moves” line of thought.
I thought about that as well, TS, but the kanji given for “back” gives no link to “past” or “former.” Instead it associates with rear, reverse, opposite, etc.; thus my current notion.
