Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

I meant when you fight as Ryu vs Gouki.

Nothing there either. Ryu notes Gouki’s similarities to Gouken, says that he thinks he can recall Gouki from sometime before, most likely when Gouken defeated Gouki and Ryu + Ken were younger, and then Ryu challenges Gouki like any other opponent.

The thing is, a debate’s going on for whether Gill knows all 66 already or he’s trying to learn them despite it being called an impossible feat, remember there’s nothing for Gill in Eternal or the 15th Anniversary book save his endings and his position in the relations charts. Even the fansites seem to be mildly conflicting with this amongst themselves. I think I’ll need to ask D.ALF about this one, if he can be specific as to where it came from.

The sentence says, ā€œAs for Retsu, he battled Dan in the midst of training, and the fact is he won.ā€ With this I’m looking at a similar scenario with Udon’s SF #6, with Dan fighting Retsu instead of Ryu, and Dan loses as opposed to Ryu going out of control and on the verge of doing in Retsu before Gouken stops him.

I’m going to work on getting the SMB story and some more CFJ quotes that got eaten back up. sano or Hcparker, if one of you can remind me which Guile quotes you wanted, that’d be great. Thanks.

Also Hcparker, please just bear with me on translations when they’re not always immediately readable. My priority with them is to bring out original intent, and that occasionally means clarity has to be sacrificed. It’s just the reality with going from one tongue to another; you won’t always have everything be a perfect fit in the transition. You can always ask me what I meant and what my thought process was if something can’t be approximated to your satisfaction, but I’ll only change things if I’ve received an expert’s opinion for the time being. You’ll see that Saiki’s done this in his faqs from time to time if you go through them, and he’s of course better at translating than I’ll ever be, but I feel his scarce language inconsistencies are for the same reasons as mine with these things. So to sum things up, ganbaruze! (hang in there!)

No worries on the translation thing, I’m just having a little fun. I understand what you mean by original intent and I fully support it, it’s just sometimes the original intent in Japanese isn’t clear in English.

As for the Guile quotes and their vice versas: Guile to Alex, Guile to Ryu. Unless they’ve already been done we might want to add Guile to Chun Li and Guile to Vega if nothing else then to see if there’s any info about who took down Vega.

Alright, that’s it, this is how requests by you or anyone else may get delayed, or worse…DENIED!!! :badboy: :badboy: :badboy:

Got’em all down now, keep checking for them and of course other stuff.

Thanks. According to Saiki, the fight occured long after Dan got kicked out of Gouken’s dojo. Speaking of Retsu, both ā€˜Lives of SF’ and ā€˜Red Cyclone’ explain why Retsu was expelled from the priesthood. However, tan doesn’t translate the sentences good enough so that they make sense. I’ve posted the explanations from both sites and I’d appreciate it if you could attempt translating the sentences below when u get tha chance? Thanks.

(Red Cyclone)
???

(Lives of SF)
??? ???

Btw, ā€˜Red Cyclone’ has been updated. Birdie has been added to tha ā€˜character profiles/bios’ page. w00t.

Hey, hey, HEY NOW.

If you could, get together a list of the quotes you have so I can attempt to transcribe into something easier to understand for me at least.

Golden Dragon: sure thing. Got those on the to-do list.

Hcparker: once I post all your requests, sano will update the CFJ faq on Gamefaqs, where you should be able to find all the other quotes I’ve done so far.

I uploaded the Complete File scans http://fightingstreet.com/folders/artworkfolder/artworkpages/sf_art_pages/sfii_art_pages/sfiiww_art_pages/sfiiww_bwart2.html
I’ll be getting some new books soon so there will be lot’s of new scans. I’ll translate the whole site to German and maybe some more languages, hopefully one day to Japanese.

Okay, let’s try this once more. 10 additional CFJ quotes:

Alex to Ryu

ā€œConclusion?..That cannot likely be applied. I realize that you’re agreeably number one.ā€

Ryu to Alex

ā€œThat’s right…from there you rise up and come. I question why you still lose.ā€

Guile to Alex

ā€œGood eye. If your injuries recover then you will be an opponent.ā€

Alex to Guile

ā€œRevenge but, it’s not to your advantage…unless if it doesn’t sound like becoming your feeling.ā€

Guile to Ryu

ā€œHmph…how many times I have come around with you. I don’t get used to pleasure from having perfectly won.ā€

Ryu to Guile

ā€œThat sharp losing fist, I also continue to polish it.ā€

Guile to Chun Li

ā€œHow much the world has probably changed. Our methods will not change.ā€

Chun Li to Guile

ā€œIs it still not enough I wonder? If the sharpness from long ago is always increasing?ā€

Guile to Vega

ā€œEven if you’re knocked down I’m disgusted with you. What kind of comfort if a requiem passes over?ā€

Vega to Guile

ā€œNo feeling of being chewed. Even if flat-out retaliation is achieved coward!ā€

and the SMB story:

Super Muscle Bomber Game Story

As the meeting of next fighting series ā€œInternational Blowoutā€ stepped into a steady countdown one day, suddenly the BWA’s leader Astro proposed a new rules, furthermore the CWA’s fight didn’t go beyond having provoked a circus show. The new rule, that is with the regulation of employing 3 normal wins by knockout, not counted outside the premises, there are no so-called rope escapes as a pro wrestling guideline was the unusual rule. Naturally, every CWA wrestler fiercely opposed both the organization when the dangerous atmosphere began to flow at that time, as unexpectedly now who had been missing, that legendary Master of Muscle Bomber, Victor Ortega revealed his appearance!
From the fact that Ortega is likely at that spot Astro’s indicated rule was approved, moreover it was alright until it was declared to wager the Master of Muscle Bomber’s champion belt.
Really where are his true motives? Also why unexpectedly everyone from before revealed their appearances?
Mystery calling out to mystery, anyone can come to realize the reason for his aims.
While there are seemingly growing signs of grand commotion, the International Blowout is finally held.
…And so now, the new challengers each with expectations concealed in their chests, now, in the role of the secret belt to be earned.

ā€˜Sharpness’?

Hmm…

It does sound like much more likely that Guile was the winner of the second tournament. I think his quotes to Vega are the only ones that specificially reference beating Vega as opposed to destroying Shadoloo.

Red Cyclone
"However as a priest defying instructions, because he opened up personal struggles he was excommunicated.

Lives of SF
"It was the extent of fist skills for which he served under an instructor, because of repeated prohibited personal struggles he became excommunicated."

That’s a really good quote! Mind if I add that to the question and answer section of the Faq?

Also, the faq has a few more understandable translations of some of the quotes that were asked about in the question and answer section, most by vasili10 and a few by TS. My opinion on it is we should keep them seperate as the translations should be as close to the original as possible. Now, if we wind up getting a huge amount of better explanations for some of the quotes then maybe we can put them underneath vasil110’s original translations, but that will have to save for another update, for now I’m more focused on arranging the quotes in some kind of order.

vasili10 - This time I made sure to print everything out just in case. I’ll start working on the update on Friday, it’s gonna be a pretty big update.

Got my Arcadias from Stick-Click!

Agreed, we should keep the speculations seperate from the information we do have that is confirmed.

Good work btw, on Ryu’s bastard kid in the Fanart section. We may yet see something like that if Capcom USA does indeed hold the series fate. Maybe I’ll get to work on writing up the story of the Ryu, Sakura, Ken vs. Vega dramatic battle in Z3?

Thanks. I’m going to try and color Ryu/Chun’s lil’ bastard soon, I want to try out Dr. Martin’s Water dyes, I’ve never used them before.

For writing the Dramatic Battle fic as usual, we need all of the fan fics we can get. There’s a lot of fics going on now which is good, but it’s not always that way

So, I’ll quote you about Guile’s CFJ quotes leading towards Guile winning SF2 in me and vasili10’s CFE faq unless you really don’t want me to, and you’ll be credited of course.

That’s fine, you can email me if you need my real name.

As for the dramatic battle I’ve got a good idea about it, just need to define Ken’s role a little better.

Alright. So it’s rumored that Gen took in Y&Y’s parents in order to prevent them from getting caught in the middle of the clash among the underworld bosses. With this considered, it seems doubtful that Yun & Yang even MET Gen. Think about it. The japanese ā€˜Eternal Challenge’ doesn’t mention Gen in either Yun or Yang’s bios and it seems like they (Y&Y) only know OF Gen, judging by Yun’s win quote against Gen. On top of that, ā€˜Lives of SF’ is the only/first japanese fan site that I’ve been to that mentions a Y&Y/Gen connection. However, it’s considered only a rumor.

Thanks. So what, he was expelled for repeatedly getting in fights with his peers? I don’t really get it.
Btw, thanx for re-posting tha SMB Game Story. I may have a few Muscle Bomber-related questions/comments in da’ future, so WATCH OUT!!!

ā€˜repeated personal struggles’ doesn’t automatically equate to fighting with his peers. If Retsu is indeed based of the typical Japanese monk type character, then the reason maybe considerably less noble.

Was Retsu expelled before or after his participation in the tournament? Or is there any other information about him?

Regarding Yun and Yang, actually they very well could have met him and not known who he was or even remembered it. A big part of their characters appears to rebelling against the norm which means not really paying attention to their ancestors. Yun in particular seems to do that a lot.

They could have met Gen at a young age and simply been unaware or not told it was him (to protect them and prevent them from being used as pawns later o).

Just a minor nitpick:

Musukau:

> Notice how two of Urien’s super arts SA2 Jupiter Thunder and SA3 Aegis Reflector, make reference to thunder in greek/roman mythology, Jupiter being the early version of Thor, the thunder god

Thor comes from a completely different mythology to Jupitur. Thor is Norse mythology, while Jupitur/Zeus is Greek/Roman. </mythologygeek>

Retsu was expelled before he entered the SF1 tournament.

Okay… I don’t see why Capcom would come up with such a pointless encounter, but I suppose anything is possible. All I’m saying is that we haven’t found ANY proof that Yun and Yang knew Gen personally or even met him. ā€˜Lives if SF’ is the first and only Japanese source I know of that has mentioned a Y&Y/Gen connection, even tho it’s more of a connection between Gen and Y&Y’s parents(rather than Gen & Y&Y).
