Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

I still have the link, but the Z3 data’s gone. The webmaster’s left a message saying it might come back sometime, but don’t count on it. Fortunately I was lucky enough to grab any story info and quotes not found in any book before the pages disappeared.

I was hoping Ramah would reveal all the dialogue in his faq, so I’m holding off on those just like I said for Hcparker’s request. For now, let me say that Ryu really hides from Ken what he’s going through, and Ken prep-talks Ryu in a much better straight-forward way than “…messed with your head…” or “…it’s nothing but the fight…I guess?” Sure Capcom USA, make Ken sound like a simpleton. Especially for the second quote above, you’d think Ryu’s talking to Ryu instead of Ken. :wow:

More questions:

-Zangief’s only confirmed battle was with R.Mika which he lets her win right?

-RE:, Guile and Nash, any confirmed ranks for either?

-Gill changes Alex to resemble himself in his 3S ending, the American version also has the dialogue, “Something has been taken away and something has been added.” Is that faithful to the original ending?

Side Note: Alex originally chases after Gil after he hurts Tom, yet some parts of the story indicate that Gil was targeting Alex to some degree.

-Did anyone ever group the CvS2 qoutes together so we can examine them as well?

To answer your first question: Yeah, most likely.
Both are first lieutenants during SFA3. Guile’s a major during the SF2 series.

Btw, is it a possibility that Ryu’s SFA1 ending actually happened? It’s just that it seems to me to be the most likely event to initiate Sagat’s realization that the power of vengeance is limited. It makes the most sense. After the battle, Sagat tells Ryu how much he hates him and even threatens to kill Ryu next time they meet. Plus Ryu leaves him with the words, “A true warrior fights with skill not anger!”. It seems to fit perfectly. I dunno. It’s just a thought.

There’s a thread over at gamefaqs that has a lot of them. Their are just about a ludicrous amount of CVS2 character quotes. Character to character, team quotes, winner to loser, etc. It would probably take someone a small life time to translate all of them. With my CVS2 Japanese strat guide I tried to count all of them, each character has 100 quotes. No lie, 100.

Pretty much, some extra pauses and synonyms with Alex talking, but yes.

As with the rest of the game, because SFZ2 and 3 exist as official, SFZ1 can’t. Before SFZ2, then yes this would’ve initiated the limit of vengeance to Sagat (but now, it’s Adon and Dan who do that for him), as you read Sagat’s Dash account you don’t see so much a vengeful man as might have expected, he just wants to fight Ryu again even if it meant joining Vega and Shadoloo for the most abundant resources. In SFZ1 Ryu’s ending, Sagat doesn’t say to Ryu he hates him nor does he give Ryu a death threat (and the part “next time we meet” is from Sagat’s SSF2T ending not Alpha), but Ryu does tell Sagat that the true battle should surpass anger and hatred, without any crappy arrogant strings attached which you see in SFA1.

RE: CvS2, I was talking just about the SF characters to and from each other, not the SNK ones But I guess that would leave us only with about 50 or so right?

I think it’s possible some of the events of Z1 happened and still exist. Nothing that would dramatically impact or change the main story too much but incidental stuff such as Guy encountering Dan could have happened since there’s not much else for him to do.

It’s also possible that Vega and Gouki sense each other for the first time even without physically meeting each other.

I had mentioned in the past that graphics wise (not text), some ending events almost naturally fit into Z2’s accepted scheme of ending events:
Ken meeting Eliza, Chun Li getting a clobbering from Vega, Sagat approached by Vega, and Gouki reminiscing about Gouken, Goutetsu, and sensing Vega as you mentioned would be the most likely candidates.

All I’m saying is that it’s possible that Ryu’s SFA1 ending might be one of the SFA1 events that actually occured. I think Sagat’s encounters with Dan and Adon are only a part of the combination of events that caused him to take a look at himself and reconsider his approach towards fighting. While you can gather/assume that his encounters with Adon and Dan contributed to Sagat’s ‘epiphany’ so to speak, the only time it’s clearly touched upon is in the dialogue in Ryu’s ending(if that makes any sense). The words Ryu left Sagat with in SFA1 are in exact correlation with Sagat’s SFA3 intro text(as well as his post fight dialogue with Dan in SFA3, even tho that fight didn’t take place).

I wasn’t copying the text in Ryu’s SFA1 ending word for word. I was just summing up Sagat’s comments when he said, “It’s not over! You will die!”. I figured Sagat meant that he’ll kill Ryu if/when they meet again. I guess I didn’t do a very good job .

IMHO, lots (but DEFINATELY not all) of the SFA1 endings seem like they could actually have happened and would explain a good chunk of the otherwise ‘missing’ in-game character development that leads up to SFA2 and SFA3. But… I didn’t hear of any official statements besides SFA1 being overridden by SFA2. Maybe I should include some of the more plausible SFA1 endings as possibilities or something in the guide (maybe I already did that, even, but if not, yet another thing for the next update, I suppose)

With the exception of the four I mentioned above (Chun Li, Ken, Sagat, Gouki), the rest of the Z1 endings:

Ryu- If we assume (which we currently do) that Sagat doesn’t see Ryu again after SF1 until SFZ3 when Ryu’s brainwashed, this ending cannot happen.

Nash- Doesn’t die until SFZ3, can’t happen.

Vega- Could possibly be his graphics look after the SFZ3 battle with Rose, unless she was supposed to be dead after their SFZ1 battle, which can’t happen.

Guy- transferred as his SFZ3 ending, which doesn’t happen because he catches up to Rose and Vega’s gone.

Birdie- transferred as his ending pretty much in SFZ2, with results in the plot guide and recent bringings mentioned earlier on the thread.

Adon- transferred as his mid-battle in SFZ2, results in the plot guide.

Sodom- He’s still recruiting members and trying to get Rolento back to form the new Mad Gear in SFZ3, and SFZ1 assumes he’s finished, can’t happen.

Rose- Transferred as her SFZ2 ending, unless she was supposed to be dead after her SFZ1 battle with Vega, which can’t happen.

Dan- Ok, I suppose Vega could approach Dan, I’d be shocked as hell if he actually did and still spared him after Dan refused, but I suppose that’s another iffy one.

Oh, I can’t do the math with all of the random teams you can form… sounds about right I guess.

Thanks for the Red Cyclone link!

What about his SFZ2 ending? Did that very match with Honda happen? Where was it stated that it was actually Honda and why wasn’t he stated to be Honda at the beginning? Why would Capcom give him the same face paint if it wasn’t meant to be Honda?

You’re forgetting Rose’s Z2 ending which does happen when she beats Vega.

Also it’ not just the endings but also mid boss battles that may still occur.

Sodom’s SFA2 ending DID happen and yes that IS E. Honda. ‘Eternal Challenge’ confirms it in its character relationship chart.

Sodom’s SFZ2 ending did happen, the match with Honda included. It was stated in AASFZ2 first that it was Honda, the endings pages in the Gamest mook didn’t list speaker names, assumes you already know who says what (I hate that BTW), and Gamest itself wondered if that was actually Honda, but AASFZ2 came out and nailed it down, so it was confirmed by Capcom before even SFZ3 came about. Fujinoyama is only an assumed name, and only the wrestling referee uses it, might exist as a cover for Honda after reading why he paints himself in HnN.

Correct, my bad, trying to keep track of too many things at once. Actually I suppose graphics wise Vega could look like that after dealing with Rose in SFZ3. I’ll make an edit to the post above. Made it.

Which mid boss battles do you mean though? There aren’t any with dialogue in SFZ1, and those in SFZ2 and 3 are mentioned in the plot guide.

My take on SFZ1 endings - Ryu defeating Sagat can not happen. It would give Ryu a clean victory over Sagat (Sagat enraged with anger is not enough to make it a dirty win) and their eternal rivalry would of been settled. When SFZ came out there was no such thing as Ryu coming down with SNH, at that time he would of just gotten a second clean win over Sagat as he would of gotten a clean win from him in SF1, no big deal. But when the SNH Ryu cheap shot thingy came around that took away the clean win and with SFZ3 solidified their Eternal Rivalry with neither having clean wins over the other.

Adon calling Vega a Drug Dealer - I suppose this ending can happen but I don’t think it does. Mainly because Vega swears revenge on Adon for turning him down and in SFZ2 you have for Adon’s ending him wanting to fight Gouki instead. I suppose it could still happen for whatever reason but it leaves things up in the air with Vega not really going after Adon. Then again, I’m not exactly sure I remember what Adon did in SFZ3 so perhaps Vega could of sent some foes after him while Adon was looking for Gouki or something. But I just don’t see Adon beating anyone from Shadowloo except for maybe some of the Dolls or something. So I’m more inclined to think Adon’s SFZ1 ending does not happen anymore.

IMO, Adon’s SFA1 ending didn’t happen and it’s been overidden by his SFA2 ending. Adon’s motivation in SFA3 carries on where his SFA2 ending left off. I suppose it’s a possibllity that Adon has been offered a position in Shadaloo since they’re always looking for martial artists/fighters to enlist, but I doubt he was invited to join by M. Bison personally. Although, Adon’s pre fight dialogue with Bison in SFA3 shows that they’ve met before. The reason I wonder about Ryu’s SFA1 ending is 'cuz while most characters have the same last bosses in SFA2 as they did in SFA1, Ryu has a different last boss in SFA2. I just wonder if Ryu’s SFA2 ending really overrides his SFA1 ending or if they’re actually 2 separate occurrences. Btw in both Sagat and Ryu’s SFA1 endings, you can see that neither of them had a clean victory over the other. In Ryu’s SFA1 ending, Sagat’s fighting ability was somewhat hindered by his anger and hatred towards Ryu. He was drawing his power from his hatred, rather than relying on his skill alone. In Sagat’s SFA1/SFA2 ending, he realizes that Ryu threw the fight to pad Sagat’s damaged ego. Basically, he was taking pity on Sagat. Even after that fight, Sagat desires to fight Ryu again.

Vasili10 or anyone else interested - Stick Click is selling off a bunch of stuff. He’s selling his Arcadia Issues and I told him I don’t need every single issue, just to let me know if I had to buy the entire set (which I wouldn’t have a problem doing, I’d just sell of the issues I didn’t need to Book Off). Anyway, he’s also selling some of his old Gamest stuff so if there’s any SF stuff in the issues he’s selling off nows your chance.

The ones from both Z2 and Z3 some of which obviously didn’t happen but others could have happened and indeed seem to be the only thing for the character to be there.

I’m trying to remember Guy’s original Z1 ending as well as his dialogue with Sodom to see if it shows up again elsewhere.

I’m pretty sure his mid boss meeting with Dan occurs even though at most it was a meeting and a not a fight since A)he has nothing else to do aside from bumping into Sodom and Rolento and B)It’s already been established that he knows Ken and Ryu so it’s entirely possible he mistakes Dan for one of them. In 2I, Sean does something similar when you play as S.Gouki.

It’s not really important whether or not the fight between Guy and Dan happened 'cuz it’s so pointless.
