Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Good, good! So it’s settled. While I’ve found the ‘Game story’ on several websites, I don’t remember their always being a ‘Prologue Story’. In any case, I’m certain that the ‘Game story’ provided by the the website I linked earlier comes straight from Muscle Bomber’s instruction Manual.

Free games and booze? I like it! I wonder if my bro would be interested in going. What day is October 10?

Ken and Karin know eachother not only 'cuz they’re both from rich prominent families, but also 'cuz they’ve fought in the past (as in before SFA3).

I was wondering if you could translate Super Muscle Bomber’s(Slammasters 2) story/plot when you have the time? You can read it on this page:
http://www.arcadeflyers.net./?page=flyerdb&subpage=flyer&id=1843&image=5

Scroll down a bit and you’ll see it. It begins with the title/heading, “Super Muscle Bomber Game Story(??? ???)”. I realize that it’s a lil’ big, so if you’ll need some time, I’ll understand. Just lemme know. Thanks.

That may explain why there a lot of fans going around saying Karin has a thing for Ken.

Hcpacker, I think your theory about Ryu’s fights makes the most sence.
Did anybody ever take a close look at the one Super Muslce Bomber flyer that looks like the secret file of SFIIING (newspaper)?
What do Sakura and Black Widow have in common?
What was the new Red Cyclone URL again (sorry can’t find it with the search option)?
I don’t know about you but I don’t even want to see Ryu’s mother. He should either keep wandering and fighting or marry Ojou-san.

October 10 is a Monday but the show runs from October 14-16, Friday to Sunday.

Thanks.

If he’s going to get married you basically have three candidates, Ojou-san, Sakura (if she ever resurfaces) and of course everyone’s (includin sano’s) favorite Chinese girl.

Personally I’d opt for the latter to finally give that section of fandom something to cheer about. They’ve teased it long enough. If SNK can draw out multiple pairings for it’s fighters, Capcom should at least finish one of theirs.

I can read it, and I’ll try posting it soon after I’m done with some more CFJ quotes and Ken’s account, which should be soon.

Careful about Ken and Karin; that might be a reference to Sakura Ganbaru! if it’s before SFZ3.

Hcparker: Tiamat and I are not contradicting the focus rule by saying Ryu fought Gouki first and then Ken. Ryu’s won SF1, he’s puzzled as to how, but that alone wouldn’t discourage him from continuing to fight, he just wants his master’s opinion on what happened, why the rumors he hears of a “strange power.” He learns that Gouken’s dead, would that discourage him from continuing to fight himself? On the contrary, it would fire him up even more on fighting. He senses Gouki’s chi, it seems similar to something inside him now dormant more or less, but still inside of him, and it pulls Ryu to Gouki. Only once he learns from Gouki about SnH, that there’s the possibility he’ll become like the monster facing him if he keeps going, and the monster wants him to become like that, that would put him in a slump that only Ken could bring him out of.

Sagat loses focus because his pride’s been shattered, and loses to Adon.
If Vega fought Guile or Chun Li unfocused, I wouldn’t know why. Vega’s not one whose resolve easily breaks, especially against the two who primarily set his global domination back three years, but he easily broke when Gouki grabbed him. AAC confirms this much: during SF2 Gouki grabs Vega with the shungokusatsu from behind, just as you see in Adon’s SFZ3 ending.
Ryu loses to Ken because Ryu’s lost his aim. Not because of pride or anger, but because he can’t see a way at this point to go on living the way he always has without eventually becoming just like Gouki.

But it isn’t! EC’s character relationship chart says Karin was defeated by Ken. Also, notice that Karin says, “That was impressive… I didn’t think I would lose again…” after you defeat her with Ken in Alpha 3.

I also noticed that the SF3 series character relationship chart says Ryu has a score to settle with Akuma.

So you’ll translate Super Muscle Bomber’s plot/story?? Thanks! Now we’ll have the official stories for both games! Just wonderful!

Until Ryu hears from Gouki, he doesn’t put things together saying that it was a cheap shot that defeated Sagat. That view is only in Sagat’s and our all-seeing eyes before Ryu learns it. What canonical source says that Ryu was disturbed just from defeating Sagat? I’ve understood he was disturbed only after he realizes about SnH.

I suppose hatred can be a double-edged sword for even Vega, I just find it hard to believe that the feeling most natural to him can cloud his thinking and fighting ability. I dunno, I figure that the more he hates, the stronger he fights, and the more vulnerable he is to the SGS.
Know what, these two ideas of ours as to how Vega fared before Gouki ousted him can tie into the two theories of whether Vega fought anyone before Gouki appeared: if he fought someone, most likely Guile, hatred made him lose focus and lose the fight; if Vega didn’t fight anyone before Gouki appeared, he could’ve been such a magnet for the SGS that Gouki finished him off immediately before any other interventions.

That may not be the case; Ryu always sees Gouken as his master before his parent. Even if Ryu was adopted as an infant, from the earliest years he could train Gouken trained him as a master and as a guardian; at most Ryu would be Gouken’s son and student simultaneously, from Ryu’s perspective.

aerialgroove: Other than being fighting game females Sakura and Black Widow have nothing in common. They were just designed by the same artist.

Golden Dragon: You’re right, Ken and Karin have fought before SFZ3, the Japanese post fight dialogue does indicate as such.

Yea, I don’t recall anything mentioned by Saiki (and definately not by the games, although you can’t get much from the games in general regarding things THAT specific, I suppose) about Ryu being unfocused due to his cheap shot on Sagat. I’m going by how his talk with Akuma unfocused him. That’s something we know to be a fact from the games, while anything about him being unfocused from his fight with Sagat would be pure speculation since there’s nothing in the games and I don’t recall anyone mentioning anything about unfocusing from it in the books either.

And I don’t see how his focus would make that much of a deal in the fight with Akuma anyways since either way, Akuma’s so much leagues above Ryu that the fight was obviously thrown (as opposed to people who have to win at all efforts, like Adon vs Sagat). If anything, Akuma would have saw that unfocused and saw it as a good sign that Ryu would be giving in to satsui no hadou with a little more push.

I don’t want to annoy but could someone please give me the Red Cyclone URL please please please? I really can’t find it.

No problem, dude. Here ya go:
http://www.minc.ne.jp/~syoko_n/

Looks like it’s been updated too.

Uh-huh. So does Eternal Challenge and the post fight dialogue in the NA version.

If you want a specific canonical source, I don’t think there is one either way. We know Sagat was upset about losing to Ryu. But virtually every source official and unofficial has stated or implied that Ryu was unnerved and surprised by the force of his attack on Sagat. To put it another, Ryu knows he cheap shotted Sagat, he’s just not sure how or why it occured.

That makes sense and I agree.

Perhaps but not likely. Just comparing him to other characters in similar situations like Ryo from Shenmue, he was both son and student but it’s his feelings as son out to avenge his father’s murder that take priority over the his student side.

Tiamat, that sort of contradicts Gouki’s earlier mindset though. Remember he won’t stop his training to spare a person’s life. His training is that important. If Ryu wasn’t focused enough to impress him then Gouki would have killed him. Therefore Ryu has to have his head on straight before they fight. Which goes back to his fight with Ken.

Hmmm… maybe I’ve missed some finer details lately, but my idea is that Ryu fights Sagat, hears about Gouki, fights him… THEN gets all angsty until Ken sets him straight.

If Ryu was confused and unfocused in his battle with Gouki, then he wouldn’t have been a good candidate for SnH and Gouki would likely just have finished him off (or just ignored him completely, not telling him about SnH). Didn’t he go to Gouki to avenge Gouken, basically to do his best to kill? That’s much better ground for SnH, and he’d be quite confident in his powers at that point. From his point of view, he suddenly got some cool powers. He doesn’t know the risk of them yet, so why would he be confused?

Gouki isn’t your regular badguy who enjoys weakness in others because it lets him control people. He only enjoys power in others because it might give him a nice fight. Teaching/inspiring/awakening SnH in Ryu isn’t a goal in itself, it’s just his idea of getting Ryu to a competitive level in a quick and efficient manner.

Now, AFTER the battle he returns to Ken, the only one he can really rely on at this point, and gets beaten into shape again. Makes sense to me.

Besides, if RvK happened before RvG he’d be wearing a red headband in that battle, because we all know how Capcom is anal about details like that :stuck_out_tongue:

Some more CFJ quotes with some notes:
-Nool may stammer at times. I don’t readily indicate this with the translations because I can’t always tell when it occurs, but I’ve seen syllables at the beginning and end of his sentences tend to repeat, sometimes it’s part of the word itself, other times it’s like echoing or freeze talking. Just wanted to bring that into mind.
-Shin Gouki’s quotes are mostly four kanji (Chinese characters) strung together in a combo; some combos mean something altogether, others I could only interpret individually, so please bear with any vague translations.

Nool to Mukuro

“You take a dreadfully inflicting attitude. You work over on decisions of tact.”

Mukuro to Nool

“Unsightly…entirely that word.”

Nool to Leo

“This is the conclusion. Already an overwhelming difference to likely fill up.”

Leo to Nool

“A wild rush, crawling through a thicket…a path of hardship from the beginning raises resolution…!”

Alex to Zangief

“Very entertaining. If the case is with a guest at the ring’s top.”

Zangief to Alex

“I sense a soul’s boiling from you. That’s bringing up a good wrestler!”

Shin Gouki to Jedah

“Heaven’s curtain is the seat of earth!”

Shin Gouki to Hauzer

“Annoying noise!”

Pyron to Jedah

“The absorption of all souls? Interesting plan. Avoid using it freely in my world.”

Pyron to Ingrid

“Seemingly having an excuse to freely and easily come forth. Yet to not think of your being.”

And here’s Ken’s account from the Dash pre-mook:

Ken from Gamest SF2D
Love

From that man having abandoned what is the “struggle”, already the days and months of how many years have likely flowed past? Once body wrapped up in a true red uniform, a dashing running riot this man, now indeed only a trace is felt at most, from the whole body what is the fighter is being lost out. What likely in this way made him change as far as that? Fear of the fight? Giving up from pending defeat? Or else hopelessly having realized his own limits? No, his case is not that of those three, perhaps others will no doubt believe it would have been impossible anyway. Why then that man, Ken indeed having anticipated enemies and encounters, therefore charms were confused.
That formidable enemy by the name of “love”, it can’t protect the goblins in the best of them.

To Fight for What Sake?..

Many years before, the remarkably physique man, struggled onto a small American harbor town.
A red uniform hanging on his shoulders, that was fastened with a black belt. At a glance it is to understand that this man is a fighting stylist, Ken was said to be his name. To cross over the end of the pursuit of knowledge he was in Japan for over 10 years, loading the training still more in the mother country America is in order to have returned. But, because of the mother country with life in general was spent together in Japan with rival Ryu for Ken, there shouldn’t be reliance on family or friends. Consequently that day’s afternoon already, that crimson youth here and there edges on moves, sharply polished fangs stabbing challenging comers, having been the case for raising screams.
However, that daily struggle didn’t continue for a long time. It doesn’t mean that Ken’s power declined. Ken from inside his own self was exhibiting doubts. It was that day, unexpectedly, surely unexpectedly in Ken’s heart plunged a gap. Such that with exceeding fighting moves then what to do? Do you not sense what doubts are with your current living? These were occasional shake-offs that insistent Ken dangled after, consequently to drive away the day which cannot be ignored the extent of how great it has become. And so at last with lassitude managed by the dark world, it dragged Ken in. If Ken always had that degree of a slump extracted by natural character, then still the remainder of anything else possibly could become a struggle. But at that time of all times for Ken, recently with Eliza he understood what it is to feel at ease.
With Eliza, it was then that Ken until now recognized the non-occurrences of wonderous emotions from having embraced his first woman. Her at the time wonderous and turned into parallel lethargic feelings, inversely perfectly clear in his heart, taking her hand so to understand the limit of the refreshing mood it was to become.
However, at the same time the blood and juice up until now painted on the world would return believed to be here to stay, possessed by enough to exceed the limit of power. For that sake, the former battles all the time day after day already bursting in Ken’s recollection, that consideration in Ken was able to carry the tranquil and sweet living.
But, with his name having risen as a one time fighter everlasting rest and the like would not be so. Ken not going to take the exception, it was because of one fragile letter that fate crumbles away Eliza and his living.

The Crimson Surge Returns

That letter’s owner is the rival from childhood times, from Ryu a written challenge. Ken reading briskly the pictures and writings, parting from Ryu after having mingled he remembers the promise. “At the time we each get stronger, we meet to fight once again,” was said the promise.
The man’s eyes finished reading the letter, already one of weakness he had become. As a tiger, as a fighting stylist these were returning. And so that man living as up until now feels ashamed, for that reason silently and particularly regulatory he began to be absorbed in.
“Just you wait Ryu! I, your rival am the marking man, I’ll surely show you!”
…And so, from the harbor town once again pursuing challenging opponents is the crimson tiger’s appearance.

Next time, E. Honda. Thanks for reading everyone.

Great work as usual. Yes, Nool apparently studders, as he does so in his quotes in the American version of CFE. I’ll quickly just point out to everyone that being that Pyron and Shin Gouki are unplayable bosses in the Arcade, they have quotes if they defeat your character, but there’s no quotes for them. For example, if Ryu beats Pyron either the game ends or he fights Shin Gouki. If he beats Shin Gouki later the game will end. Ryu wouldn’t have a quote for Pyron or Shin Gouki.

And this of course is due to the Japanese CFJ Strategy Guide we are using for quote translations is based on the Arcade version. On the home versions both Pyron and Shin Gouki are playable. So no idea if characters have quotes for them on the home ports. Given the speed the game made the home ports, I sort of doubt it but can’t be certain.

vasili10 - HcParker requested one more CFJ quote on another thread. Could you possibly do Alex to Ryu and vice versa? After that I’ll update our Faq and try to put the CFJ quotes in order by characters so it reads better. Thanks again.

Regarding Ken: So, Ken was a virgin before Eliza? And then they date and he up and marries her? Man, I thought he was a playa… maybe he played a lot of tongue hockey with other chicks before or somethin’.

Just to throw in my 2 cents I think Ryu fought Gouki first and then fought Sakura and then fought Ken. The way I see it, he went to the Dojo, found Gouken’s corpse and went offf to fight Gouki. After that, he fought Sakura and let her win, turmoiled and didn’t fight all out or insist to train her. Then he fought Ken. If he’d of fought Ken prior to anything the only thing they would talk about was Gouken’s death since we know that chances are Ken witnessed it. (Even if he didn’t witness it that would be the only thing on their minds.) The Ryu fighting Ken first scenario to me would come just after Ken witnessed Gouken’s death, it would be the only thing on their minds but in the game it seems some time has past so how I see it their fight happens after a brief discussion about Gouken, Gouki, Ryu defeating Sagat with SNH so Ken can mention how he lost to Ken because his fight with Sagat was troubling him. (Though I still don’t understand why Gouken is not the first thing on their minds but I can only imagine that was discussed prior to even character intro dialog.) Ken gives Ryu the red headband here.

In Vega’s SFZ2 ending Ryu had the red headband on which makes me think the fight with Ken happened after his fight with Sakura because he had the white headband on in that fight. Of course SFZ3 indicates that the first fight with Vega actually didn’t happen in SFZ2 but in SFZ3 and that’s where the game didn’t give Ryu the red headband but I feel the original intent was that he was supposed to have it in the game but he just didn’t. But hey, if the mighty Masahiko Nakahira couldn’t get the red headband thing right (Ryu has a white headband in the Sakura Ganbaru! manga when he shouldn’t because he already received the red headband in the SFZ manga) I swear. If someone does actually get it right the world will end. And Studio Udon got it wrong having him wear the red headband when he fought Sagat, the new SFZ Anime has it wrong with Ryu wearing a red headband in it, blarg… yet another reason Sagara Sanosuke’s my favorite Manga and Anime character. ONE HEADBAND AND IT’S ALWAYS RED!

RE

Now I’m probably missing something here, but doesn’t Ken say to Ryu in his SFA2 ending, “That battle with Sagat really messed with you head man”? He then tells Ryu to stay focused.

It appears as though in his dash account Ken is a virgin but that is the dash account. It’s entirely possible that was changed or forgotten in latter accounts. I’m still wondering where the idea that Karin was crushing on Ken came from…

Other points of speculation:

-While we’re on the subject of Ken, what exactly do we know about the Masters family? Aside from the already known backgrounds and supposedly being in the five wealthiest families I mean. According to SF3, it takes Sean three days to mow Ken’s lawn.

-Did Vega personally kill Chunli’s father or have one of his flunkies do it?

-Nash and Guile are confirmed to be members of the US Air Force, right?

-Lastly, this is fueled in part by something I saw on Wikipedia but their entries for Ryu and Ken state that Ryu choose to focus on the Hado principle while Ken opted for the Shoryu focus in order to honor their master.

Sure I can do that. Check Gamest for me please.

SFA2. Not quite what he says in Z2.

-We don’t know. With the Zero series we know that Vega and Shadoloo was for sure involved with her father’s demise, before Zero it wasn’t as definite as with Nash.

-Yes.

-That sounds an awful lot like a reference to Udon’s comic, when Ken visits Gouken’s grave together with Ryu, so I don’t know at this point if there’s anything canonical with that. Got lots more to read and I’ll keep on reading.

Since Wikipedia doesn’t seem to be regulated, careful; it may end up like Videogame.com’s SF character guide, official stuff mixed together with a hodgepodge of extras. Keep checking and bugging Tiamat for updates!!!

 Yeah, I’ve been putting that off for a while, sorry. This week I promise.

No way. What does he say, then? Also, do u still have the link to that website with all the SFZ3 dialogue and ending text?? If so, plz hook it up. Thanks.
