Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

At the ultimate SF Panel at the San Diego Comic Con, someone asked about SF4 and Capcom said something is in the works. Check Cyberakuma13’s post.

Hey, that would be pretty HAWT. Y’know, llustrations and everything. Sounds cool. Speaking of Muscle Bomber, have I posted this before. It’s the official prologue and plot of Muscle Bomber(Slammasters 1). I think I might have, but I don’t feel like looking through all the previous pages to find out. If I did, then plz forgive me. Anyway, here it is:

Prologue
???
Eight of the organizations that remained consistent under these circumstances united to form one wrestling organization/federation. It was named the CWA (CAPCOM WRESTLING ASSOCIATION).

Game Story
The 1980s. During the unprecedented professional wrestling boom, many professional wrestling organizations were started all over the world. A severe rivalry existed among the organizations.
In order to resolve this conflict, 8 organizations combined to form the CWA, led by Victor Ortega, the CWAs founder and first champion
One day, Ortega suddenly vanished. Ortega was basically the glue that held everything together and his unexpected disappearance caused the CWA to enter an age of confusion and disorder. The BWA, an illegal underground wrestling organization, chose to take advantage of this opportunity and began moving. With “Fighters of Muscle Bomber = Destiny” as the theme, the CWA chief executives decided to organize/hold a world tour called the crash carnival, to decide the new king of the CWA.
The gong that determines the new Master of Muscle Bomber is sounded

What I gathered from tan’s translation is that the first sentence in the prologue story seems to say the same thing as the second line/sentence in the game story, except the setting is the 1990’s rather than the 1980’s. I’m thinking I’m not looking at it correctly ‘cuz that wouldn’t make any sense. I think you oughtta’ give it a shot. Thanks.

aerialgroove & sano: HnN #18 I translated which talked of why Honda paints his face; it’s for disguising himself (explanation given before Zero anyway, not sure if anything was added for SFZ3 yet), and no, it’s not overly common for sumo wrestlers to do that. About the game which Kabuki appears, can you find out when it was released in comparison to SF2, aerialgroove? That could possibly tell us who’s a rip-off of whom.

Hcparker: could you find that weird note if possible? I’m curious.

Golden Dragon:
??? ???

From the beginning of the year 1990 the pro wrestling world met a period of a flood of organizations, large and small organizations produced in every place of the world disappear, those produced continued to vanish over and over.

Did you get this from the “Lives of SF” site? Maybe 1990 was a typo for 1980 that D. ALF made by accident.

It’s in the main book, the one with the profiles of the World Warriors in it I referred to earlier. It’s in the back in the ‘start-up’ adventure “High Stakes”. On page 155, it says the mat used to be blue but that ‘Balrog fights better on purple and it hides blood better’.

Names his manager as “Mr. Ray”. among other things.

That’s right, for some reason I thought you said he fights better IN purple rather than ON, and that reminded me of one of his SSF2 artworks where he’s in purple instead of blue. Remembering White Wolf’s Mr. Ray, Mriganka, Diablo, etc.   … Thank you sir.

Actually that does lead me to two Bison specific questions:

1)Has the carpet in his stage ALWAYS been purple or was it ever purple or?

2)This is probably a nonsense question but I remember people insisting one of the characters in his background, the one that throws money was his manage for some reason.

And I once read on a Japanese website that the one with glasses is Stevie Wonder.

What’s the name of the referee from Muscle Bomber? Thanks.

Bison’s stage carpet (if it is carpet, I always thought it was a floor with neon lights) has ranged in color from blue-violet to deep purple depending on the games looked at. No confirmation as far as I know if the money thrower is his manager, I don’t think he even has one after going through Bison’s Dash account. HnN remarks that there’s someone in his stage who looks like a trainer, though not Bison’s per say; and I remember the Japanese fan site for the Stevie Wonder look-alike, just another fan conjecture for some random entertainer. Not surprising if Capcom won’t call the Soviet president Gorbachev anyway.

The referee from Muscle Bomber is Harry Hicks.

I always thought that guy looked more like George Clinton than Stevie Wonder.

After reading your translation of the Prologue’s first sentence, it seems like my previous attempt at translating it wasn’t too far off at all. Why is the Prologue story set in the 1990’s and the Game story is 1980’s? Anyway, to answer you’re question, I didn’t get it from “Lives of SF”. Actually, you can find it on a lotta’ Japanese websites if you look hard enough. This time I found it on this website:

http://www2u.biglobe.ne.jp/~yamasai/story/stary-top.htm

It’s just a big collection of SFC & FC videogame stories/plots taken straight from each game’s instruction manual.

I always thought George Clinton looks like Santa on LSD.
I can scan the Muscle Bomber story from the official guide book if you want.

Is Harry Hicks his Japanese name, too? He has no bio in the guide book, where is his Plot Guide bio from? Thanks.

Armwrestling was released in 1985.

Golden Dragon: that’s an awesome page! I’m just as stumped as you about the prologue story being in 1990 and the game story in 1980. If those are actually both from Muscle Bomber’s manual, Capcom must have typo’ed somewhere. Weird.

aerialgroove: I guess Honda’s the ripoff from Kabuki then, if Capcom didn’t know about Arm Wrestling; or maybe they did and Kabuki was an inspiration for creating Honda. Maybe Nintendo didn’t even notice or care.
Harry Hicks is his Japanese name, that’s why I said Muscle Bomber instead of Slam Masters. Dunno if he’s with another name for Slam Masters, don’t think so after checking him in the plot guide.
For the story in the guide book, before scanning the whole thing, try to see if there’s a year to be spotted somewhere, and then if you still want, send it over to me.

I THINK Harry Hick’s bio is from All About Capcom. I forget.

…and yea, I do have to update the plot guide sometime. sigh Especially with the new Final Fight and potential new SF game coming along. Guess I’ll get plugging away. Will probably still take a while though due to the sheer amount of update needed ^^;

Kabuki

Tiamat, the FF2 guide also has size and such info for all enemies.

vasili10, I can’t believe that Honda is a rip off of this cheap old game Armwrestling, maybe they’re both copies of some whole other sumo character? I’ll send it to the red cyclone guy.

Is Kabuki face paint used in Japanese theaters? Is Kabuki an ancient character like a demon?

Kabuki facial paint is a whole lot more detailed and ornate than anything Honda has, hence Japanese sources would not even refer to it as Kabuki paint, I haven’t seen it yet anyway. This more flamboyant paint (think of Kyoshiro from Samurai Spirits) is used in Kabuki plays. Kabuki itself is the youngest of Japan’s three most popular forms of drama, the other two being Noh plays and puppet theater.

Just curious. What are you planning for the whole Zangief’s sexuality issue in the Plot Guide if anything?

Cough scratch it cough

…it’s funny because the main reason I put off updating the plot guide before was because I was waiting for a conclusive answer on that. Still getting mixed evidence here, really. I’ll just have to say as much in the next update, it seems, as the chances of finding any further evidence to anything there seems slim.

So basically it’s probably something they made up but could conceivably be true. I forget if Bison has a stage in an A3 and what it looks like.

Zero 2 timeline update:

I’ve been working on Ryu’s timeline mostly as he’s the main character and he has three battles in game, based around two events that I’m still dealing with.

Ryu Z2 timeline.

Ryu returns to Japan after winning the first tournament and learns of his master’s death.
*Ryu vs. Ken.
*Ryu vs. Gouki.
Ryu vs. Sakura.

I’m not sure if the fight with Ken came before after the fight with Gouki. Ryu in the American version asks Ken if he wants another beating like the one he gave Sagat before they fight and his post battle dialouge indicates that Ryu is firmly back on the path of the true warrior. But so does his dialouge with Ken in some ways. Regardless he’s back on the path by the time he fights with Sakura so that battle has to happen last.

EDIT:

I’m now 90% sure that Ryu’s fight with Ken happens BEFORE his fight with Gouki. Ken’s words are what motivates Ryu to regain his focus which leads to his ‘defeat’ of sorts over Gouki.

Vega timeline:

Vega has three major fights like Ryu, vs. Rose, vs. Chunli and vs. Birdie. He may have fought Charlie as well but I’m not sure if he did. For the confirmed fights the order I get is.

Vega vs. Birdie, not really a fight just him accepting Birdie into Shadoloo.
Vega vs. Chunli, Officially happened.
Vega vs. Rose, also officially happened and I’m leaning towards it being the last battle because of the outcome and the resulting drama.

Additionally Vega has to encounter Adon at some point probably around the same time he’s recruiting Birdie and most likely senses Gouki’s ki which leads him to Ryu. The last sentence is pure conjecture on my part but a reasonable enough assumption.

Sagat timeline:

Sagat only has two battles but three story events:

He must lose to Dan
He must lose to Adon
and he loosely joins Shadoloo.

Right now I’d lean towards the battle with Adon happening either at the very begining (and thus ending Adon’s story as he has to recover in the hospital) or at the end (for the same reason).

The fight with Dan I see happening close to his decision to join Shadoloo as either the reason he begins to doubt being affilitated with Vega is a good thing or as proof that he really needs to clear his mind.

I think the last few battles of Zero 2 are Sakura vs. Ryu and Vega vs. Rose, as they more than any other ending set the stage for Z3 with Vega being the super powerful bad guy after Ryu.

More crap taken from Eternal Challenge’s character profile section. God, it’s hot in this bitch .

Blanka
Years later, once he was match for any jungle threat he came across, he grew bored of seeing the same environment. He traveled randomly through the jungle growth until he found a nearby village. Shortly after that he also found more worthy fighting opponents to test himself against.

Guile
His fighting style is described as a mixture of martial arts and wrestling.

Balrog (boxer)
As a professional boxer, he only permanently injured his opponents. It doesnt say anything about him killing anyone.

Dee Jay
Dee Jay still pursues both music and martial arts equally, traveling looking for what his future holds.

Birdie
Eternal confirms that M. Bison didnt enlist Birdie into Shadaloo personally (like Tiamat guessed). It reads, Drifting around as a bouncer for several years, he was offered a position as a member of a ruthless drug ring called Shadaloo. Seeing an opportunity, he accepted and started immediately planning to overthrow whoever he found leading the organization.
he did research on M. Bison to try and find any weak spots in Shadaloos plans that he could take advantage of to make his way to the top.
What he discovered in the Shadaloo data room during his SFA2 ending were numerous secret files, which included several references to the Psycho Drive.

Sodom
He practices the martial arts seeking the true depths of the Wabi Sabi mindset (a Japanese aesthetic which means unconventionally beautiful yet imperfect).

Gen
His bio states that some of his maneuvers were taught to Chun-Lis father, who would in turn pass them on to her. Perhaps Gen didnt train Chun-Li personally?

Rolento
In order to prevent Shadaloo from obstructing his master plan, Rolento disguised himself as one of their soldiers and set out to find their deepest secrets so he could destroy them from within.

Sakura
She first saw Ryu fight on her way home from school one day.

Karin
She created Kanzukiryu kakutoujutsu.

Juni
Her brainwashing was possibly the most thorough of all the Dolls and in turn she received many of the most important missions from Bison.

Sean
Sean first saw Ken fight while he was watching a local martial arts tournament.

Twelve
Eternal confirms that Twelve is beginning to become self-aware and that the Illuminatis scientists (including Dr. Kure) dont realize it. Ive mentioned it in the past and originally learned about it from Street Fighter World and Lives of Street Fighter, but I just wanted to let yall know that its backed up by an official source.

Remy
Remys deceased sister was the older of the 2 siblings.

Golden Dragon - Do you have the new SF Eternal Challenge book offered at the San Diego Comic Con with the corrections made and the Shinkiro/Ikeno alternate covers? I’m still waiting on my 2 to come in the mail.
