Nah, the Japanese CVS2 strategy guide doesn’t have endings. Every character does have a short story that describes their character, for example, the usual ‘Ryu is looking for strong opponents’ type of stuff and even a mini bio - called Profile here - with height and weight information, including Yun(But Yun had this in the Gameboy version of SFZ3 later on anyways). And it makes a listing of all the games the characters were in too. Along with the quotes that’s just about the end of the storyline portion of the book. It doesn’t even contain pictures of the game’s generic endings.
I checked the CVS2 card set I have of the Capcom characters I got when I bought the Capcom CVS2 Ascii handheld joystick just in case. Nope, on the back of the cards it just has their gaming moves, the front of the cards at least seem to me to have their CVS2 nicknames while placing their names written in English and written in Japanese below.
Wow, the screenshots look more interesting than the preview itself. You can see a younger Gouki holding bloody beeds just like he did in Ryu Final. Will we see the death of his master or of Gouken, depending on who they want to show him get the beads from. And GASP! Is that black haired Ken, before he dies his blonde hair? OH SNAP! Or does his hair just look darker in the moonlight? Hmm.
The SFIICE drawings (http://fightingstreet.com/folders/artworkfolder/artworkpages/sfartwork/sfiiceartwork/SFIICEartwork.html)
were they made for SFIICE or are they SFII drawings just with the alternate colors (when both players choose the same character)? They are in the “Complete File Street Fighter II”. Same with the images of Ryu and Chun Li that look like drawn from a photo (they were used for the SFII and SFIITurbo Super Famicom modules in Japan). Also the one of Ryu and Vega, where he looks like Katohttp://fightingstreet.com/folders/variousinfofolder/ripofffolder/vegakato.jpg. Were all those images drawn for SFII originally and then just used for the sequels again?
Does the symbol on Balrog’s mask (looks like a “J”)have any meaning?
What Street Fighter characters are famous in the SF universe? The Masters family seems to be famous, maybe Honda in Japan and Zangief in Russia? Also Sagat, at least in Thailand. Everybody seems to have heard of Ryu but not everybody knows what he looks like.
I’d toss in Deejay being famous because of his singing carreer. Gen, not so much as being famous but being well known for his Assasin skills. Balrog(Ninja) is almost like a prince in his country. Nash for winning the US Martial Arts championship before. Mike Bison having been the heavy weight champion of the world is someone that would be known to everybody, like everyone in the world more or less knows who Mike Tyson is. Dudley’s a maybe giving how popular boxing is around the world. All though Vega, the leader of Shadowloo actually made the papers in the SF2 Animated Movie, I kind of don’t think he ever recieved that kind of front page publicity, the operation seems more underground in the games. Well, if he did get that kind of publicity, Chun-Li and Guile would have 15 minutes of fame at least for aiding in taking it down.
That and he’s a world champion kickboxer. I’d imagine he has received a considerable amount of fame from that. He earned/won that title before he became a famous musician.
It’s not the only way but especially before the Meiji era it was a cruel, yet common mindset. It was based on whether life is more important to preserve than a set of knowledge, or whether that knowledge must be preserved at the cost of life, which people would rather die than have the knowledge fall into antagonistic hands and make them stronger yet. Gouken prefers to preserve life all the way, thus he taught a toned down version of the arts he was taught, a version that does not emphasize killing but instead willpower and mettle.
It would be out of character for Guy to fight and kill with malice or hatred, but not for him to fight and kill for the sake of surpassing his teacher as a worthy opponent giving his all, to see if he truly deserves the title of 39th by winning his final struggle. In any case, I don’t recall us ever hearing about Zeku after SFZ2, so we cannot say for sure if Zeku is alive or dead until I hear Saiki’s reasons that he’s alive. What I do know, is that when titles are involved, and the current holder doesn’t want to simply pass away but would rather live his art to the very end by fighting in the name of it, deathmatches are the name of the game to determine succession. And if Guy’s SFZ2 ending happens, a fight to the death does occur. Normally the outcome would be Guy killing Zeku to become the 39th, since he’s around in SFZ3. But if Zeku’s alive still, I don’t think we have anything to be sure of that.
Also aerialgroove, the Maki pic you asked about (the same one you can see over at Maki’s page in Red Cyclone’s site right?) is in the second issue of Club Capcom, with the cover having Maki and Delta Red Cammy back to back.
Thanks a lot vasili10!
If any of you know of a book with the characters from the fold out poster separately, let me know. Also what do you think about the SFIICE pics? Are they from SFII originally?
I scanned all pics from the Complete File SFII.
Waaah! Ryu lost! Oh well, if he had to loose to anybody, I’m glad it’s Goku. Goku didn’t win by a landslide though, he had 52.3% of the vote while Ryu had 47.3%, Ryu sure gave Goku a run for his money. Now let’s see if Dante takes the final prize at the end…
Rats, oh well, kudos to Goku the martial arts master.
Hey, I thought you had saved the old stuff in text format, figured it would be more compact that way. Thanks for checking your CvS2 sources and everything else. Always looking forward to more.
Oh nah, print outs. Just scanning and sending. You welcome and thanks for all your hardwork too.
Um, what the heck are we talking about? I’ve been sending scans of the old Gamefaqs thread where Saiki started doing his thing to Vasili10, talking about the SF storyline and stuff. It would be too much for me to start putting that stuff up here, would quickly fill up my free online picture accounts. So far I sent him 8 pages of it. Unfortunatly like I said before, the pages cut off in the corners, I didn’t really print them out the right way. Anyway, if anyone wants to check it out (there’s about 80 pages in total, I’ve only scanned 8 so far, I’ll do a little every week) just toss me an E-Mail at my home address, sano75_1@hotmail.com and I’ll hook you up too.
EDIT: I put the wrong E-Mail address before, it should work now.
Ok folks. About Zeku, I just read the first eight pages of Saiki’s Gamefaqs thread that sano provided. Back then Saiki said (first of 8 pages in fact) that after Guy defeated Zeku, he was given the final teaching of Bushinryu, and then Zeku disappeared, best I can make out of the cropped parts, and of course Saiki didn’t cite specific sources.
Now after going through AAC’s entry on Zeku, his SFZ3 section mentions Zeku’s words left behind to Guy about the shadow of Bushinryu, a foretelling of Guy’s decisive battle with Vega which of course at the most happens with Guy finding Rose, no battle with Vega happens. Now whether this prophecy is the final teaching Saiki referred to, I can’t be sure, nor can it be certain whether Zeku revealed this to Guy before or after Guy’s ending battle in SFZ2. However, looking next at Guy’s account in AASFZ3, just skimming it looks like there’s quite a string of dialogues between Guy and Zeku. So I’ll just have to keep reading and posting to be sure of at least some answers.
Another posting on Alpha generations. After thinking about it and viewing it again, now I’m really not inclined to buy it. I mean just because Gouki at times acts like a monster doesn’t mean he should look like one. Capcom’s had ample opportunity to pull a Namco (who I think borrowed the idea for the ‘Devil Gene’ Cough) and turn him into an actual demon if they wanted to.
It just looks like characters dressed like SF characters kind of enacting the story but not really them.
Vasili10, any idea what’s going on with the SF RPG Board Game from Living Room Games? Is it out yet or do you know when it’s coming out? I am so out of the loop when it comes to RPG Board Games.
