Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Well he mentions ‘Asura’ several times in SVC Chaos.

To those who know what I mean: Part 4 will be up tonight (same URL as usual). Send me a pm when you got it please. Thank you very much.

I Finally Got My Books From Tokyo!

Ok, first of all I have to say that there is a lot of really really good original SFII art that I haven’t seen anywhere before and that I think it’s better than lots of other more famous drawings that came later. Anyway here is what I got:

A funny SFEX comic collection mini book
A Gamest Mook of SFEX2 plus
A Gamest Mook of X-Men VS SF
A Gamest Magazine issue of SFII CE
A Gamest Magazine issue of SSFII with famous cast poster
A Final Fight 2 guide book
A Mighty Final FIght guide book
The SFII Secret File with Shadaloo base poster and audio CD
AND: A MUSCLE BOMBER guide!
Also got the SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters Clash guide and a SFIII New Generation Fan Book with lots of sketches and nice fan art.

The Gamest Magazine about SSFII has several pages about the stories of the new challengers.

I’ll also get the Final Fight 1 and maybe 3 guide within the next months.

Question: Did Ryu or Ken ever meet Goutetsu?

Hey with all the recent news coming out about Gouki, Gouken, and Goutetsu would you guys kinda compare SNH to super saiya-jin in DBZ?

I’d compare it more to the Saiyajin’s monkey transformation myself. Good people, Goku and Gohan struggle to resist it, (Ryu) less ‘good’ characters embrace it - Gouki. No one really resists Super Saiyajin, originally it was thought you had to have a good soul to even attain it (unlike SNH) until Vegeta’s overwhelming desire to catch up to Goku got him there.

I think if Ryu’s story… ever finishes, he will be at the SNH level without giving into SNH, kind of like Ryu Final. For the 2% who actually give a crap about DB GT, the Monkey was a stepping stone for SS4, SNH’s not really a stepping stone for anything, except for possibly the non canon instance when Ryu gave SNH up in the SFZ Anime, and fired off, what I guess was his first Shinkuu Hadouken? Might of been a stepping stone there, big surprise, DBZ/GT and the SFZ Anime had the same director…

Non related crap no one cares about - Saw Namco x Capcom in a store in Chinatown (where I had to go to buy CFE for the Xbox 'cuz Gamestop and EB suck and are late) that will mod your PS2 while you wait, ah, can’t resist… it’s on 28 and Elizabeth St for anyone in NYC. Using a disc like I said has it’s share of problems I hear, unloads you while your playing and crap. It’s cheaper though, modding costs $125 at J&L! Argh, fanboyism is costly…

Also picked up the Street Fighter II Vocal album, artists sing over all of the original SF2 12’s songs and it has extended versions of the Ryu and Chun-Li songs heard on the SF Vocal Album. The SF2 Vocal Album’s been out since 2001, talk about being late to the party… Mike Bison’s lyrics are in English, heh, heh…

Ok finally ready. The latest batch of CFJ win quote requests:

Hauzer to Nool:

“Gogogogogogo…know this…gogogogogogogo. Gogogogogo…I’ve become god’s presence…gogogogogo.”

Nool to Hauzer:

“For this realm to be with 2 animal dieties is a trivial matter. Three parts understood to be influenced with aging.”

Hauzer to Vega:

“Ohhhh…black surges…ohhhh. Ohhhh…you are dark…ohhhh.”

Vega to Hauzer:

“You believed that I would be afraid of a beast? Moron!”

Hauzer to Felicia:

“Gogogogo…a showbiz chaser without humility?..gogogogo. Gogogogogogogo…why…gogogogogogogogo.”

Felicia to Hauzer:

“If I remember correctly you’re a…great dragon right? If so, how many thousands of years have you lived?”

Hauzer to Jedah:

“Gogogogogo…your sixteen displays…gogogogogogo. Gogogogogogo…another turndown…gogogogogogo.”

Jedah to Hauzer:

“Relieved that expectations can be surpassed? A change to discouragement is it?..but a petty worry.”

Hauzer to Ryu:

“Gogogogogogo…your power…gogogogogogo. Gogogogogo…thoroughly savored…gogogogogo.”

Ryu to Hauzer:

“You don’t break through walls…trained continuously throughout time you were taught.”

And Sagat’s Dash pre-mook account:

Sagat from Gamest SF2D

Feeling of Supremacy

"For me how many years have passed…"
The man of great stature coughing out 1 man during the basking from the rising morning sun’s overflowing sunshine.
At that time he himself was young. From surroundings the fighting moves emperor and so forth wanted to call out for resounding spirit. And so, that day the guy, until defeat by Ryu, the matter was the golden belief that for him competitors and such did not exist in this world. But Ryu smashed this all to quickly into pieces.
It is believed that now, I didn’t realize Ryu until now as the competitor he’s become, not becoming shameful in conceit. A competitor just now, this said to be gained title of emperor of fighting moves, replaced of that seat concluding to say the motive of a completely visible party, I placed on par with Ryu, suffering a put down by the guy from the very beginning.
The result until now of my complete defeat has ended. And so, the guy defeated me with a bit of a pleased facial expression shown, and departed the place in silence. In my breast an earnest wound is left. But from now on, I want to remember the wonder and refreshment felt from then. Such as that feeling inclined from the time it began, I want to remember losing the bearing of my own feelings…

Learning From the Past

However I was at one time the ultimate man at the top of the world. That regrettably doesn’t mean that it’ll be forgotten. Since that day’s defeat, I’m 1 man as a fighter, returned to original aims, from the same simplistic pursuit of knowledge. In order to take back the fighting moves emperor’s throne, god granting worthy opponents, one of these days once again the fight will come back to the heart for that day’s sake.
And so, this time’s pursuit of knowledge in truth will be numerous lost matters recovered. Every day I will spend time fighting amidst the unawareness, to seriously consider nothing but fights to win is too much, challenging oneself continuously of matters forgotten.
The challenges with oneself began from the moves looked again. Supposing that with the exceptional human being Ryu and to fight such things would likely be unnecessary. But with Ryu, devising a move to crush that shoryuken is the limit, it cannot be an eternal self-victory.

Perseverance and Determination

I am worried. To try having any kind of move, surpassing that invincible fist changes the old to new. Changed of course, it would become abandoned. But that will be maintained, as remained the precedent scar on my chest. For me, at times trying to touch the carved old scar due to that Ryu’s shoryuken, humiliation and remorse as new feelings, the concentrated thought of roaring self-condemnation facing towards me released.
And so finally the first conclusion has been brought out. In other words the possibility to surpass the invincible shoryuken, of course for the shoryuken it was no choice. However indeed the same shoryuken after all I would be with no chance of winning. With that thought in mind the practicing is repeated. And thus finally it is that the tiger uppercut was completed.
Immediately after the move was finished, I realized the breeze of rumors of Ryu departing once again. Moreover before that, already the day of the fight with the guy and myself is close, taking in the instincts. Fate’s worthy opponent Ryu will positively turn up here. 4 year’s time has elapsed now, Ryu also with the pursuit of knowledge is more greatly changing probably. What if the tiger uppercut in front of Ryu even, possibly will teasingly become an equivalent move? But, although a graze for Ryu it’ll be a single burden that I believe won’t change. My desire is merely one, it is…to once again cross fists with Ryu. With that necessary exception, there is no other need for me.

Next time, Vega. Thanks for reading minna-san.

since CFE is out here now on the 'Box is it worth posting the win quotes from the English version?

Or noting the apparent decision to pass off Zangief as straight based on his ending?

Vasili10 - Once again great stuff! I got another batch of quote requests before I update the Faq. Muchas Gracias!

Quick questions - Hauzer noticing Vega’s… Black Hadou? As in Satsui No Hadou? I’m assuming he’s referring to how SNH and Psycho power are related correct?

Hcparker - Basel has a Faq on the American quotes just under mine and vasili10’s (my Gamefaqs name is SRKSANO, also my Gamertag.)

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/game/920737.html

Yeah, I asked Vasili10 about it, there’s nothing in Zangiief’s CFE Japanese quotes to indicate he’s Gay like their usually is. Swayed by the ending? Since Capcom USA had the rights to SF during CFE, a plot to Un-Gay him? Hmmm. Have to wait and see when he shows up in a canon game, SF4 in 2046…

Black hadou could just mean black power…

Scroll down. I did find #6 at the top to be funny. Akuma’s teleport is named “Ashura Senkuu,” if you remember…I was gonna bring it up when someone was translating his moves a while back, but figured you guys would’ve known. Kanji is the same, if you wanna check (though it’s terribly small on that page).

Basically, same thing as the links about the “oni” given earlier in the thread. A hateful ogre, essentially.

Thanks a lot, vasili10. Hot shit, as always. Feh! I’ve always been on the fence 'bout the Zangief being gay thing ‘cuz there hasn’t been any solid proof that he is, nor have i read/seen anything that’s given the slightest hint that he’s gay. I think Tiamat sayin’ in the plot guide that Zangief is officially gay was a bad move. Eagle of course is a different story 'cuz he atleast hints at teh geyness in his CvS2/SFA3 Upper win quotes.

Just random polling info I’m jotting here for posterity -

Capcom City, http://www.capcomcity.com/ - recently ran a poll of who was everybody’s favorite SF2 character. Voting was only allowed one vote per member, unless you had multiple accounts or something. It’s a fun site if you don’t know about it, you get points for challenges and stuff and when you get enough points you can get a free Capcom game, shirt, or whatever. If you buy a new Capcom game and scan the receipt, they’ll give you 1,000 points easy if it’s one of the challenges.

About the poll, when it finishes they remove it from the home page. While the voting was going on I requested to be E-Mailed the final results and they just told me to keep checking back and mark the last result I see. So here’s what I got -

Ryu - 135
Chun-Li - 75
Ken - 65
Blanka -47
The Bosses - 36
Guile - 31
Zangief - 24
Dhalsim - 23
E.Honda - 20

I like that Blanka is so high in the poll.
Zangief is not gay. Not one Japanese person ever said that in Japan gay people are muscular and hairy except for Saiki and if he wouldn’t have said that nobody would have even had the slightest idea that Zangief could be gay. It’s all because Saiki said it but every Japanese I ask says he doesn’t know what I mean. It’s complete nonsence. Just skratch it from the Plotguide, it’s not correct so it shouldn’t be in there. Saiki probably just mentioned a thought or something, he didn’t know what effect his statements have.

I second that!

In response to the poll, I figured Guile would be ranked higher.

Don’t look at me. I asked Saiki for a source and he gave a source, and a written one (as opposed to words from an employee etc). If I could have read Japanese to look through that old source (and thus discover that Saiki was mistaken of it being there, which he apparently was), I would have loved to. Regardless, though, Saiki was VERY deadset on Zangief being gay in several debates and after I basically said “Wow, look at those dislikes. I wonder if Zangief is gay” and he said VERY clearly, “Tiamat, Zangief IS gay” and participated in several gamefaqs arguments about it, so I don’t think it was a matter of “He didn’t know what effect his words would have.” Vasili also stated (paraphrased) that “there could be no way that his win quotes in SFA3 could be interpreted to not have gay implications” or someting to that effect.

I don’t know what the heck is going on, and I really wish I did, but Zangief being gay is not something Saiki made up on a whim without considering the consequences of his actions. Whether or not he really IS gay and whether or not Saiki’s mind was simply accidentally remembering imagined things is the real question I’m trying to find the answer to.

For Zangief, the SFZ3 quote to Ryu still stands as evidence, and the stereotype of big hairy males being homosexual does exist in various anime, manga, and games. What Saiki never clarified to me was the evidence he knew from the Fanbook.

sano, I feel that TS has the right notion when Hauzer says “black hadou.” “Hadou” is interpreted as “wave motion,” but dictionaries have also translated it as “surge.” I believe that Hauzer just senses sinister surges or power from Vega rather than knowing to relate psycho power together with SnH. Perhaps hadou in that quote should be changed to surge. Think I’ll do that.

aerialgroove, I find it highly unlikely that Ryu and Ken ever met Goutetsu. If they did, they were both very young, because when Goutetsu dies, Ryu’s around 9 and Ken’s around 8.
About your books list, I have the SF2 Dash and SSF2 pre-mooks and the SF2 Complete File and have scheduled to translate from them, so you don’t need to provide scans for anything in those books, just page numbers if you want something specific and I haven’t provided it or haven’t planned to provide it in my pre-set order of things to share.

Okay thanks again.

Next three Namco x Capcom seiyuus. With any luck I’ll be playing it soon…

Klonoa: KUMIKO WATANABE - Klonoa in Klonoa 2. Fran Doll in Turn A Gundam. Katejina Loos in V Gundam. Woody Woodpecker’s seiyuu in Japan. Young Slappy of Animaniacs’ seiyuu in Japan. Lin=XX in Breath of Fire V Dragon Quarter.

Guntz: TAKAHIRO SAKURAI - Rockman in Rockman X 8 and Rockman X Command Mission (Megaman X in the US). Cloud Strife in Final Fantasy Advent of Children. Boma in Heat Guy J. Takamine Kiyomaro in Zatch Bell.

Shion: AI MAEDA - Shion in the Xenosaga games. Mimi Tachikawa in various Digimon Animes. Also sang many of the Japanese Digimon intros. Megumi in Zatch Bell.

There are apparently 2 Ai Maeda seiyuus in Japan, Anime Network calls the above one the ‘older’ Ai Maeda and the other one ‘younger.’ Both have done seiyuu work. Anime Network confusingly credits both with providing the voice of O-Ren Isshi in Kill Bill’s Anime sequence, I’m not exactly sure which one did that. I do know that the younger Ai Maeda, not the one in Namco x Capcom starred in the live action Battle Royal 2 Movie.

vasili10, do you also have the SSFIIX gamest magazine?

Tiamat, ok so he was sure about it. Well I admit that makes a big difference. Of course I still think that the “evidences” are not very good, and that it would be mentioned or made fun of all the time on Japanese websites, fan art and manga parodies, like Poison (who is not as famous as Zangief) being a man.

Vaslili10, are you interested in Muscle Bomber or Final Fight 2 or Mighty Final Fight scans of the bios and such? If not I’ll start scanning Street Fighter art for myself first. The Final Fight 2 guide has art if every versurer. I didn’t even know that Robert and that other guy are replacements for two chicks, just like Poison and Roxy got replaced.

Also, don’t you think many people don’t know about the black & white art in the Complete File? I’ve never seen those images, like the one of Balrog without a snake tatoo or Blanka eating ice cream. I freaked out when I saw them, they’re old but drawn very well. As an artwork fan I like the Complete File the most.

Thanks for your replies everyone!

By the way, aren’t there like 10 times more people than us in Japan who know way more about SF and the story? We should start to connect to them somehow.

EDIT:
Does M.Bison have an alcohol problem? I’m not sure if you meantioned it in your premook posts, vasili10.

EDIT:
I just came along some trivia site about movies and this is really nothing important or anything but I’d just like to post it:
“Street Fighter : The Movie : The Ultimate Battle
In an edited scene the monster Blanka “poops” on the floor much to the disgust of General Bison(the late great Raul Julia)”

That’s it, thanks for your attention.

I do have the SSF2X pre-mook as well. I am always interested in new stuff, but I’ll tend to squeeze those in making the priority always primarily SF material as I usually have in the past. It’s entirely up to you what you want to do though.
About the B&W pics in the Complete File, I have mentioned them before when I first got the book; apparently it takes a few times for people to notice things occasionally. Their captions are definitely on my list to translate sometime, but they’re not extremely high on the list because the accounts, aka the big blocks of text found, are mostly what AAC and Eternal entries would end up being based on.
I don’t know if there are that many more Japanese who are story experts, but recently I’ve been in contact with the webmaster for the Lives of Street Fighter site that Golden Dragon introduced me to. And I’ve also gotten that webmaster to get in touch with the webmaster for the SFZ3 page that Tiamat I believe brought into the light for us, with all the quotes and stories for even the console-only characters not covered in any of the books, but painstakingly copied from the games themselves. Now I just wish I could get in touch with Capcom of Japan itself, although it probably won’t be much help since Saiki said (his latest post on SRK BTW) that there’s nobody there who knows the whole story anymore.
I don’t believe I ever said Bison had an alcohol problem, but I know which pic you mean, and I’ll post the captions for it when I post Vega’s account. Thanks and laters.

Random stuff - Got my PS2 modded and playing Namco x Capcom. It took me a while trying to figure out the battles but through trail and error and lots of help from Gamefaqs got past the first stage. Only SFers on stage 1 are Chun-Li(her SF2 song plays when she appears) Doll Cammy who splits quick and Juni and Juli who Chun-Li and the heroes fight. KOS-MOS and Momo can fight some strange Aliens and then attack Juni and Juli for the first ‘crossover’ fight. So far a lot of fun!
