I’ve been super busy lately but here’s some of the Namco seiyuus. I already covered Ryoutarou Okiayu, the voice of Kagekiyo before since he’s also Captain Commando’s seiyuu in the game. I also covered Chisa Yokoyama the voice of Hiromi since she’s the voice of Kobun(Servebot) in the game. So continuing -
Taki/Tarosuke: FUJIKO TAKIMITO - Link in Ocarina of Time, Four Swords Adventures, Majora’s Mask and the young Link in Smash Bros Melee. Taki in Soul Calibur 2.
Hori Taizou: TOSHIO FURUKAWA - Freeman in Crying Freeman. General Blue and Piccolo in Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. Shin in Hokuto No Ken(Fist of the North Star). Jan Lee in Dead or Alive 1,2, & 3.
Toby Masyo: YUKO MIZUTANI - Mihoshi in the many Tenchi/Sammy Animes. Queen Minnie Mouse in the Japanese version of Kingdom Hearts.
I’ll try to get some more in next week or so. I have 9 more Namco characters left to go.
In the meantime Chaosdimension has a translation faq at gamefaqs, he hasn’t covered everybody yet but plans to. He’s only doing some of the character’s more recent rolls, but I told him he should at least include Sagara Sanosuke among Yuji Ueda’s many credits… because well… that is where my net name comes from after all.
He didn’t really hide it; actually he even showed them the first step towards it, satsui no hadou, whether he realized it was the first step or not is uncertain. However, he discouraged/encouraged interest by labeling it “forbidden” when he spoke of it. But he didn’t go any further than that as far as I know; Gouki put the pieces together from then on.
On the subject of Sho (Shou), the Bushinryuu ninja from the Captain Commando game:
The setting for Captain Commando is Metro City in the year 2026.
** The “brother student relationship / connection” is a little awkward when expressed in such sparse English terms. The indication is that Shou’s relationship with fellow Bushinryuu student Guy is like that of an elder & younger brother – not that the two are related, just that Shou looks to this older Bushinryuu practitioner as something of a “brother” figure. As far as the reference to this Guy not being the same as 39th Bushinryuu successor Guy, here’s a little bit of personal speculative semi-conjecture. Prior to his appearance in the SFZERO series, Guy was a student of Genryuusai (the father of Rena – Guy’s fiancee – and Maki) – Genryuusai and Rena were kidnapped by the resurrected Mad Gear organization in Final Fight 2, Maki was the female Bushinryuu ninja in FF2 and CVS2. His backstory appears to have been revised for the SFZERO series, however, as his ZERO plotline no longer mentions the Genryuusai family – instead, he is proclaimed as the 39th successor to Bushinryuu Ninpou and as the student of Zekuu. Shou and the rest of Captain Commando’s cast were created after Final Fight and long before the SFZERO series. This makes me wonder if the Guy with whom Shou has the brother student relationship might not be the original Final Fight series concept of Guy, which is somewhat different from the concept of Guy as the 39th successor to Bushinryuu Ninpou. Given the reference to Shou’s time period being a “possible future,” perhaps the Metro City of 2026 depicted in Captain Commando could be considered a possible future based on the concepts presented in the Final Fight series, but not based on the concepts presented in the SFZERO series. Anyway, just some semi-conjecture based on the Japanese paragraph Golden Dragon provided.
@Golden Dragon: can you provide a link to the source of the text you posted?
*** Gou, Shou, and Gai are the names of the 3 main characters in the manga “Getter Robo Gou,” adapted into a 50-episode TV Tokyo anime series that aired from 2/11/1991 until 1/27/1992.
Perhaps, if we assume that the SFZERO Guy concept overrides the original Final Fight Guy concept, then perhaps this “new” Guy is another Bushinryu ninja who happens to look like Guy? Perhaps the original Guy’s son with Rena?
Either that, or Sho exists in a time where ZERO concept Guy didn’t exist. Much like how Ryo in Fatal Fury/Art of Fighting isn’t the same Ryo as in King of Fighters series…
I never knew the story of Captain Commando. Metro City in 2026 huh? That means that SF characters could still be around in that time.
I’ve been doing research on moding USA PS2s to play Japanese Games when I found out about the Slide Card 3.6. Basically, you don’t have to open up your PS2 and violate the warranty, put the disc in and your ready, more or less, and you can play Japanese games. You can also view Japanese region 2 DVDs. I’ll give Namco a bit more time to see if they announce a US release of NXC, if not I’m going this route.
Well Sano,I think you should take that route, cause I saw yesterday that they did their upcoming US games list for the rest of this year, and there is no mention of it.Just go to gamefront.de for the list, just scroll a little down and you’ll see it.Well good luck for the import operation Sano.Later.
Yeah, for now I’m playing other games and waiting for some of the faqs at gamefaqs to fill out a but more, they only cover the first few levels right now.
Chances are I’ll be able to buy the Slide Card 3.6 at Chinatown, if not plenty of online retailers have it if anyone wishes to google it.
And the key question of the moment is whether or not he developed the SGS or was taught it by someone else?
And that brings us back to the question of whether or not Goutetsu himself was under the influence of Satsui No Hado.
Are we still saying that the old reports of Goutestu being happy as he died because Gouki had surpassed him in strength as being true and 100% accurate?
Emphasis added, since someone will read that post thinking there are two seperate Guys running around. Also the Getter Robo pun…they just needed a character named Guy and had to grab one. It is odd that they’d specifically mention that it wasn’t “our” Guy. Maybe it’s just some guy named Gai, for the sake of the joke.
Clay/Saiki claim that he developed it; I claim that he was taught about it, but most likely did not learn it, after reading Gouki’s SFZ2 account.
From Gouki’s SFZ account, Goutetsu could consciously tap into and untap out of it, much like treating SnH as an on/off switch. He was at that level of discipline.
Not quite; Rokiseph sort of jumped the gun with events. When Goutetsu was happy with Gouki’s level he was still alive. It’s not told how he felt as he died from the SGS.
> From Gouki’s SFZ account, Goutetsu could consciously tap into and untap out of it, much like treating SnH as an on/off switch. He was at that level of discipline.
Probably not because Gouki’s motivations are different than Goutetsu’s. Saiki said he walks the path of the ‘asura’, which I’m not sure quite what that means.
Goutetsu learning the SGS seems to kind of cheapen the move though as it’s supposed to be the ultimate move of his version of anasatsuken.
Although…
…If he did learn the move from someone else, Gen knowing the only way to defend himself against it makes more sense.
A theory if you will regarding the SGS.
It or the idea behind it belonged to an as yet unknown style or martial artist. This style or artist did not share the secret of how to execute it but other martial arts masters learned of it’s existence (Goutetsu telling Gouki and Gouken of it) and some created a way to defend against it (as Gen demonstrates).
