Gouki just wanted to test Vega’s abilities, with him being the MC of SF2 and all, and he killed him. I don’t believe much more reason has been given than that.
Ok, I can check those and get back to you. While I’m doing that, can you tell me if an official pic of Gouki before Satsui no Hadou takes over him can be found somewhere, book or otherwise?
Fong Ling and Felicia: KAE ARAKI - Mistake before. Kai Araki’s been Felicia’s voice in all of the games and not Yayoi Jinguji. This listing credits Kae Araki with doing Felicia’s voice and not Yayoi Jinguji, so the second listing seems more accurate then the first. Along with Felicia she did Lei Lei’s voice in Puzzle Fighter. She does Morgan Matthews’ voice in the Japanese Dub of the American TV show Boy Meets World. Chibi Usa and Black Lady in Sailor Moon.
Captain Commando: RYOUTAROU OKIAYU - Scar in Full Metal Alchemist. Trieze in Gundam WIng. Enrico Salvaletti in Hellsing. Andy Bartfeld in Gundam Seed. Kevin Mask and Puripuriman in Kinnikuman II (Ultimate Muscle). Sakata in Love Hina. Ingus in Macross II. Amakusa Shiro in Makai Tensho. Aoi in Naruto. Kurei in Flame of Recca. Mitusi Hisashi in Slam Dunk. Darbit in Tekkaman Blade II. Brad Crawford in Weiss Kruez. Honda Hiroto (Tristen in the US) in Yu-Gi-Oh.
Shou: HIDEYUKI HORI - R in Megaman X: Command Mission. Hayabusa Ryu in Dead or Alive 3.
Unknown Soldier 1P: AKIO OTSUKA - Batou in all of the Ghost in the Shell Animes. Solid Snake in the Japanese version of Metal Gear Solid. Dirigible Captain in Kiki’s Delivery Service.
Unknown Soldier 2P, Haggar: TESSHO GENDA - Adon in Berserk. Dan in Big-O. Bojack and Janenba from the Dragon Ball Z Movies 9 and 12. President Grant in Eatman 98. Galbraize in Ehrgeiz. Igarashi Kouichi in GTO. Yagyu Jubei in Makai Tensho. Guile in SF2V. Younger Toguro in Yu Yu Hakusho.
That’s based off his revival ending right? Where he refers to Vega as the ‘Emperor of Darkness’? And than goes on to say ‘the master of the fist shall triumph no matter what’ or something along those lines.
I still vaguely recall speculation on the first thread about WHY Gouki attacks Vega. They’re Zero dialouge and their converations in the vs. games indicates two things: 1)They’re aware of each other’s power and 2)They each hold the other in contempt. Vega views Gouki as little more than a brute while Gouki mocks Vega for relying on something other than his own strength.
The question though remains WHY wait until the second tournament to officiall attack and kill Vega.
ESPECIALLY when we know that Gouki will NOT kill anyone he thinks can even give him a better fight with more training. That’s why he lets Ryu and Gen live after all.
So in the second tournament, he, above everyone else should sense that Vega is weaker than he was before.
I’m probably more concerned about this than Capcom is but I think it makes sense at storyline wise for Gouki to kill Vega because Vega was intferering in Ryu’s training AND because he doesn’t like him.
Revival and SSF2X endings. For the WHY, since SFZ1 has been largely replaced by SFZ2 and the Gouki-Vega dialogue doesn’t exist there, together with the versus games material it should still be treated as nothing more than speculation. As the storyline stands, Gouki senses Vega together with Gen and Ryu (Z2 ending) as the three most likely to give him a run for his money, but doesn’t actually see Vega until SF2 where he catches him off guard and snuffs him.
Italian. Hey, there’s some art I haven’t seen before; any new to you sano? Are they in Capcom Illustrations?
They’re mostly from secret files and not in Capcom Illustrations, I believe they took the secret files from the arcade flyer archive and didn’t buy em. We talked about the site a while ago (http://shoryuken.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1601183). I still wonder where they have the Geronimo pic from.
Ryu and Ken and Birdie in image number 2 are in Capcom Illustrations. Ryu and Ken were drawn by Akiman. Birdie was drawn by Bengus. I’ll put all of the Capcom Illustrations Street Fighter and Darkstalkers sketches up soon.
I forgot to say that the text to the pic says that Dan was supposed to be Gouki’s angry student first but then they made him more rediculous and SNK parodish (I know that word probably doesn’t exist).
Yeah I just read that too. Babelfish translates Italian to English so well. So that’s another potentially kick-ass storyline idea Capcom scrapped, along with Makoto and Ryu being long-lost siblings. It also says that photo 3 is one of the earlier designs for SF Zero/Alpha Guy(in case you hadn’t guessed already). It looks like the design was later used to make SFEX’s Kairi. The article doesn’t SAY that, but it’s pretty obvious. Photo 2 includes an earlier SFZ/SFA design for Ken. Instead they used Ken’s look from the SFII AM flashbacks and used that old design to make Alex. Interesting shit.
Ok, some transliterations for Sakura’s & Gouki’s moves, alternate individual word interpretations separated by commas. Gouki’s air messatsu gou hadou was under super arts selection constraints in 2I & 3S; it should have been called tenma gouzankuu just as in the other games.
shoouken: spring blossom fist, punch, strike
shunpuukyaku: spring breeze leg
Sakura otoshi: Sakura trap, pitfall
midare zakura: disorderly cherry, decoy
haru ichiban: first storm of spring
On a side note, the following six are the 6 sure killing techniques of Goutetsu’s ansatsuken, taught to both Gouken & Gouki, as defined in HnN.
1.A minor battle in war, as one between small forces or between large forces avoiding direct conflict.
2.A minor or preliminary conflict or dispute: a skirmish over the rules before the debate began.
Different note:
Just skipped through my secret files and I noticed that Blanka looks a lot older on the SFIII secret file (newspaper) with Zangief, than he did on the SFII drawings (which makes sence since it’s a while later).
