Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

From an old Fan Sub of the SF2 Animated Movie:

VEGA: Hmm… A fighter who used to train with Ryu… it might be interesting to use this Ken for the PK-Plan…

SCIENTIST: Also, President Edward Pressman of the United States has been pushing the anti-assault weapon bills. So the security around him is extra tight. The assassination must be carried out very carefully.

VEGA: Don’t worry. I’ll train him well with my Psycho Power.

Gamespot is calling the PSP game SFA3 as well. OK now my head is starting to hurt…

‘Final Fight Streetwise’? Interesting. Yes, Cody’s brother does look like a tool. Perhaps it’s too early to say, but the game’s plot doesn’t seem to conflict with any storyline info/canon Capcom has established thus far in the SF/FF universe. SFA3 and FF1 took place a looooooooong time ago(both storyline-wise and otherwise), and A LOT of things in Cody’s life could’ve happened since his jailbird days. A lot of changes. Plus it was never said that Cody DIDN’T have a brother. I mean, don’t never-before-mentioned siblings and twins show up in movie sequels ALL DA’ TIME?? Therefore, I wouldn’t worry too much about strikin’ it off the canon list. Hopefully characters from previous Final Fight games will make cameos.

Um… they have trailers of the new Final Fight Game over at IGN. Curses in English and Spanish? Prostitutes? Use of the word ‘Playa?’ Man, Metro City really has become like New York! Oh well, I’m oddly still interested in the Game. I guess wanting at least one new game remotely tied into Street Fighter’s storyline does that…

Anyway, seems like the story takes place much later than the FF/SFA series(could possibly take place in 2005) Cody stopped fighting, wears a more modern jailbird outfit, curses too… WHOA… Final Fight is now part of Capcom’s Marvel Knights Line. :wtf:

Well, it does say other Final Fight characters will be showing up. Given how… OLD Cody’s brother looks, I imagine it probably would be a sequel and not a prequel.

I don’t expect (nor see from the known info so far) any major storyline conflicts. Cody’s gone back to beating up punks and is now feared by lots of gangs. Doesn’t really conflict with anything. It’s just that Cody randomly having a brother (who apparently is close to Cody and spent lots of time with him since childhood, so why haven’t we seen him before?) who now has to save Cody is the type of crap that fanfic writers loving refer to as Gary Stu syndrome. IE, CHEESY.

And he looks fugly.

The game itself could be good, although people who saw the gameplay videos say the gameplay looks too simplistic/crappy/what-have-you. Hopefully in actual practice, that won’t be the case. …and they find a way to make the main character not look so ugly. Or better yet, let you choose your character. Even if… the female character looks kinda bland, too.

EDIT: Okay, just watched the videos. The brawler RPG blend could be cool, but I think they tried too hard with the grittiness. And the gameplay looks too slow paced right now (hopefully it speeds up later).

Just because it is a version of Street Fighter Alpha, doesn’t mean it is SFA1. It just means it’s one of the Alpha games. Out of the Alpha games, SFA3 seems the most likely because it is the newest SFA game out, as well as already ported onto handhelds. Bonus.

Mohammed Ali

First screen shot available. It’s definitly SFA3. Colors look very vibrant much like DS on the PSP, however this isn’t the best picture though.

I noticed that the page called it Alpha 3 not Zero 3. Will this be a US release only?

Maybe they just called it that because it debuted at E3? Good question though.

lol, tru tru. However, if Cody was still on the run, he probably wouldn’t have returned to Metro City. Plus, Kyle says that Cody doesn’t fight anymore. I’m assuming all that prison drama is behind him. The part I don’t get is if my assumption is correct, why does he still wear what looks like part of an inmate uniform?

I suspect ‘Zombie Belgar’ was a wink towards the Resident Evil franchise. Hence, CoJ didn’t object to his presence. The other ‘out’ they have storywise is that the source of Belgar’s power, how he came to be the LEADER of the most powerful and feared gang of Metro City is never explained not officially or in the plot guide.

The new game is already conflicting with established by saying Cody has given up fighting…

How?

He’s addicted, REMEMBER? The story of HOW he got over his addiction, let alone how he got out of JAIL despite repeatedly breaking out whenever he feels like it, is rather important to everyone but Capcom of America.

My hope is CoJ will declare this story AU somewhere down the line.

-On a related note at least we know what happened with that Shenmue style game, I said Capcom was working on.

I work nights now so yesterday was my day off, I went to bed at 5:30 pm and woke up at 4:45 am TODAY.

Oh and I have an artbook for the SF2V series… not much of interest…

A follow-up…

While I’m reading through what I believe is the latest edition of the PG, if we ever decide to make a list of what various mangas and animes inspired SF or elements of it’s story, than Dragon Ball will probably have it’s own rather large section.

Ignoring the attacks and move listings, you have:

-Ojou-san who even in suspect not official art seems to look like and behave an awful lot like Chichi.

-Good (God/Rose) and Evil (Picolo/Vega) combining and being two halves of one soul. Not to mention Picolo’s WHOLE character design with Cape and Cap and then throwing them away to really fight someone seems to be present in Vega.

-Scouters and analyzing battle power (Dolls).

-Learning techinques from just watching other fighters (Dolls, Sakura).

-#18 bearing a suspicious resemblance to Cammy in some ways. And than turning on her creator and yes I know she’s inspired by Gally but I wouldn’t be surprised if Gally wasn’t the only influence behind her creation.

Lot’s of iffy and odd similiarities between the two…

On a more related note, the reason I’m going thru the plot guide is to assemble a reasonable timeline for the events of each individual game. Now I know we have a good, probably as close to official timeline for the overal universe but individually the events of each game still have yet to be defined.

For example in Zero 3, we know the probable order of the endings. Starting with Vega vs. Ryu (Vega wins takes control over Ryu), Sagat vs. Ryu with Ken & Sakura vs. Vega, Ryu, Ken, Sagat & Sakura vs. Vega, Rose vs. Vega & The Dolls, Cammy & Dolls vs. Vega, Charlie, Guile and Chunli vs. Vega (final ending he dies.

But we also have all these incidental encounters which may or may not have happened to sort out and that’s what I’m doing.

For example, Ryu vs. E.Honda fight, but when? It has to occur before Sakura vs. Honda but does it occur before Honda and Sodom (Which may not even have happened).

So I’m trying to assemble a logical timeline that these events can occur.

Another pair of requested winning quotes from CFJ:

Jedah to Ingrid:

“…I see now…surely here is the dimension’s warped place. Do you appear for what is said the reason of necessity?”

Ingrid to Jedah:

“You’re the extent of one fond of troublesome expressions. Your far and wide knowledge is complex to maintain.”

Balrog’s SF2 Dash account is underway. Stay tuned…

Just watched the clips of Final Fight over at IGN. Man, Cody sure is foul-mouthed, but I kinda like that he’s got a bit of personality. He then knocks out that spectator after spilling his drink, it goes well with his ‘hot-headed’ temper. The last clip at the bar shows a Final Fight arcade machine, nice touch. Maybe they can make it a secret where you can play the original game.

I hope this game turns out well, my expectations aren’t set very high but I know I’ll be getting it anyway.

Final Fight Streetwise looks interesting. Yeah, that’s one ugly main character.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Dragonball influenced Street Fighter. Hell, a number of the character were based off of real-life people.

I think the Dolls vs. M. Bison arc took place somewhere along the same time as the Charlie, Guile, & Chun Li vs. M. Bison. I gathered that that from his comment about pets being worthless in Guile’s ending. This may not be in the Japanese ending though, so someone might need to translate it.

Juni needs to have met Akuma at one point or another (not necessarily in a fight) to be able to get stronger from observing his data. Perhaps when he and Gen were fighting.

I’m pretty sure E.Honda vs. Ryu happened before Sodom, because, well, that’s the order you fight them in the game.

Sakura probably met E.Honda some time before she met up Dan (her airplane ticket). She needed to have a lead on Ryu so that she’ll have a reason to follow Dan around. Did they meet up with Blanka before or after Sakura fought with M.Bison?

Rose vs. Bison seemed to have taken place before Cammy and the rest vs. Bison, but the ending itself left some questions. When did Bison find out that Cammy is becoming self-aware? He wouldn’t try taking over Rose until after he figures that he couldn’t take over Ryu or Cammy. Maybe he sent someone to keep an eye on Cammy? I think that’s how he found out since Cammy didn’t appear to be self-aware until she fought Dhalsim. However, Dhalsim’s dialogues when you play him only hints that he met Rose, which brings us into a nice circle.

Vasili10 - Ah, should of known those two characters would be cyptic. Anyway, thanks!

I think the order for the final battle is pretty well established…

Vega vs. Ryu
Sagat vs. Ryu while Ken and Sakura vs. Vega
Sagat, Ryu, Ken and Sakura vs. Vega
Rose vs. Vega OR the Dolls.
Dolls vs. Vega
Cammy vs. Vega
Chunli, Charlie and Guile vs. Vega.

Somewhere in there the following needs to occur.

Balrog needs to fight Cammy (obviously before her fight with Vega, maybe at the same time as Rose is fighting the Dolls?).
Gouki and Vega need to become aware of each other (although that probably happened back in Z2).
Karin needs to beat Sakura (this is probably happens AFTER Sakura assists in the battle against Vega).

Isn’t it Cammy vs. Dolls, then Cammy & Dolls vs. Bison/Vega?

Since Cammy was still returning from her (failed?) mission against Dhalsim (way out in India), the Rose vs. Dolls fight would probably have taken place during that time. With Bison preoccupied, that might be the reason he sent Vega. Taking in travel time, I don’t think Vega would have met with Cammy until long after Rose was defeated. He could have been waiting for her at the base though, so they could have fought at the same time as the Rose vs. Dolls fight

Since Karin had Blanka as a mid-boss, maybe it’s after Dan and Sakura meets up with ol’ Jimmy. Blanka is Dan’s mid-boss, and he appears in his ending as well. They could have met up while they’re still traveling around and again after the fight with Bison. The fight between Karin and Sakura could conceivably happen before or after the fight with Bison. Ken fought Karin before she had her fight with Sakura, and I don’t think they had that fight yet when Ken and Sakura teamed up. So yeah, I think it did happen after the fight with Bison.

Hcparker, I wanted to add some of your suggestions to my 3 “based of” pages but I think I’ll make one just for Dragonball. You might want to check it out, there are some Dragonball characters already.
http://fightingstreet.com/folders/variousinfofolder/clebsfolder/celebspage.html

Yes sort of.

Well we don’t know if Cammy actually encountered Dhalism, there is no contradictory evidence against it but likewise little or no supporting evidence.

Given Rose’s strength and her state in her ending, it’s reasonable to assume that IF she fought the Dolls, she would do so while Cammy is battling Balrog. Otherwise the time frame gets a little crowded since Vega would need to KO Rose immediately AND sic the Dolls on Cammy AND have the Dolls revolt on him.

What I think happened is Rose followed Ryu to Thailand, witnesses his battle with Vega, confronts and fights the Dolls/Vega and then the SECOND part of Ryu’s ending happens while Rose is KO’ed.

The reason I say this is because it makes Vega’s decision to have the Dolls self destruct slightly more credible. After all, they’re assasins AND bodyguards and if Rose (Someone he views with a mixture of contempt and scorn mind you) can beat them, they’re of little use in either role.

If I remember correctly Karin’s fight with Sakura occurs in that Thailand stage as the background leading more credence to the theory they fought AFTER Sakura helped defeat Vega. It’s similar to how Ken and Ryu fight most likely after Ryu confronts Gouki.

Although, that’s another event that’s hard to place on the timeline in Zero 2.

Karin is also stated to have lent Sakura her family’s private airplane to aid her travels. So maybe the order goes…

Dan meets Blanka
Sakura defeats Karin
Sakura defeats E.Honda
Karin meets Blank & Sakura meets Dan
