Saiki’s alive. He posts on Gamefaqs. Last time I saw him he was talking about the Neo Geo Battle Colisseum loke test.
Orochi and Gill did the Fusion dance and…
I have a question about capcom vs snk & snk vs capcom!
I was reading the capcom vs snk manhua and was having a hard time imagining what orochi looks like. I remember sano said he had like 9 heads and was a dragon type monster. Is that all? werid I pictured King Ghidorah {from Godzilla} when sano explained it to me.So in this man hua Gill fused with this thing? I need asprin. :wasted:
So is Orochi still the boss of KOF? { sorry sano I forgot your answer}
I don’t play King of fighters. Only a capcom fan. But these vs games are starting to bug me. And when I see these bosses kick my SF fighters ass I wanna know how strong they really are!
What about Rugal , Geese , and Mr. Karate ? Who’s the strongest? and are they still bosses too? { in the snk world}
I know all this is not canon . But I still wana know.
Thanks. Much appreciated
The real Orochi legend is about an eight headed dragon killed by a Kusanagi blade.
In KOF, Orochi was sealed away by someone from the Kusanagi clan, the Yagami Clan, and the Kagura clan hundreds of years ago. In KOF '97, their descendants Kusanagi Kyo, Yagami Iori and Kagura Chizuru seal the Orochi once again. When the Orochi is reborn, it takes a human form.
The boss in KOF is not an eight headed dragon. But there are eight people that represent the heads of the Orochi. Most of them die by KOF '97.
Mature - Dead
Vice - Dead
Leona’s father - Dead
Yamazaki - Alive
Goenitz - Dead
Shermie - Dead
Yashiro - Dead
Chris - After Yashiro and Shermie killed themselves, Chris became powerful enough and was the host body for Orochi.
I’m not going to go into the whole character vs. character thing because SF and KOF work differently in terms of who’s stronger. I will say that Orochi will destroy everybody in SF and KOF. The only reason he was defeated by Kyo, Iori and Chizuru is because of a ritual that needs all three of them of the bloodline to defeat him. Seperatly he would kill them all. Orochi owns everybody in SF and KOF, especially since he is the only God (Not Godlike, actual God) in both series.
Let me see if I can find an image of Orochi as he appears in KOF…
Say, do you watch Ranma 1/2? They had an Orochi Dragon in the OVA special where Akane found that kid with bad memory. ‘Orochi’ was even part of his name in the English Dub. He had one big head, and seven little ones.
Good old Siegfried’s Fighter Mania! Scroll down to see Orochi, all the KOFers are in alphabetical order.

thanks
Thank’s sano. How’s your drawing coming along?
very interesting story
That site will help me alot!
That make’s the whole Gill fuseing with orochi thing better.
Why is Rugal abel to kick Akumas ass in CVS 2?
I was surprised when he absorbed him!
It was cool though. Does it have something to do with the orochi?
I see the power of the orochi in a new light now.
Also what’s Mr. Karate’ story? He’s a tengu right? What’s so special about that?
My drawing’s going well, I guess.
CVS2 has different scenarios. One where Gouki kills Rugal, one where Rugal kills Gouki. In the end, Gouki lives in both endings and Rugal dies in both endings. So Gouki has a slight edge over Rugal even in CVS2.
Gouki is way more powerful than Rugal. They are matched together because Rugal is the true/overused boss of KOF, and Gouki is the true/overused/hidden boss of SF. Not every crossover match up is going to make storyline sense in any given crossover. People are matched up for lots of different reasons.
They both absorb each other in both scenarios, not too much of an explanation there except for what the game gives you. Rugal has been known to imitate other Fighter’s Moves as he’s copied moves from Krauser and Geese Howard, so I guess he’s copying Gouki too, with the help of Orochi Blood. Orochi Blood in SNK land won’t give you powers to learn moves or anything, but the Orochi blood in CVS2 land seems like it’s a link to Orochi God Powers or something…
I don’t know much about Mr. Karate or Art of Fighting. Just that he is powerful enough to destroy a satelite. You can read the KOF Faq for info on him.
Oh it’s canon, but English Eternal did a piss-poor job of translating Gouki’s Japanese only ending in Super X, probably to keep going the US image that Akuma is the almighty devil. You can find a much more accurate translation with Gouki’s Revival ending. Check the Video Game Museum’s endings.
But that ending only happens when he fights himself right?
So he’s having one of those typical mind battles right?
It’s no different then a Ryu vs Evil Ryu battle right?
it doesn’t mean he’s a demon.
In Revival both of Gouki’s possible endings in SSF2X are lumped together.
Yes.
Ryu battling over whether to become stronger and kill, or Gouki battling over whether to end his life simply to end his torment or to keep living in hopes of finding the one who will finally defeat him in battle. Maybe kind of similar.
Gouki’s never been a demon.
Howdy, folks. vasili10’s been after me lately to do a little digging thru my library of Japanese fighting game books to see what I can turn up re: a couple of topics in Tiamat’s SF Plot Guide (Gouken’s daughter, in particular). I’m not sure if this little snippet has been posted before, and I don’t really have the time to go search-functioning to find out (I’ve got an early work day tomorrow, I’m tired, and I want to post this and go to bed), so here it is.
This bit of translated text comes from “Suto II: Hadouken no nazo” [SFII: Mysteries of the Hadouken], a pocket-sized paperback book, published by Shinseisha (the now-defunct former publisher of the now-defunct Gamest magazine). Shinseisha published a number of “nazo” books, each based on a different game (I’ve got “nazo” books for Garou Densetsu / Fatal Fury, Garou Densetsu 3 / Fatal Fury 3, Samurai Spirits / Samurai Shodown, Shin Samurai Spirits / Samurai Shodown II, KOF’94, World Heroes, Vampire Hunter / Night Warriors, Tekken, and SFII). The books are 95% Japanese text, with a few accompanying b&w images/illustrations here and there. The basic format of the books is this: every other page asks a question about some aspect of the given game – it might be a question about something that appears in a stage background, an aspect of a character’s design or backstory, etc. – and then 2 pages are dedicated to answering that question. Each book asks about 80-90 questions. A few of the books contain additional info, like a relationship chart or a timeline. As you can see from the list of game titles above, most of these books were published near the beginning or middle portions of these game series. This means that some of the information (including the translated material, below) will be rendered out of date by information found in later installments of each series (installments not yet created at the time of the “nazo” books’ publication).
Anyway, I found an entry in “Suto II: Hadouken no nazo” that seems to refer to the elusive “Gouken’s daughter” character, that the SF Plot Guide indicates was an early, unrealized character concept, now long-since abandoned by CAPCOM. The question being asked, in this case, is “By whom was Ryu’s headband made?” Here’s a translation of the pertinent portion of the answer:
The material in [brackets] is my own small addition, in order to make the translation read a little more easily in English. I finagled the translation a bit on “heartfelt confession.” The original Japanese phrasing is “sei’ippai no kokuhaku” – “kokuhaku” meaning “confession,” and “sei’ippai” meaning “with all one’s might.” In this case, I thought “heartfelt confession” was a fairly acceptable English colloquialization.
In addition to providing no name for his master’s daughter, the names of Ryu’s master and the person who killed Ryu’s master are not mentioned here, either. “Suto II: Hadouken no nazo” was published on June 9, 1994, just 3 months after the March '94 release of SSFIIX in Japanese arcades. Therefore, it obviously predates the ZERO/ALPHA series idea that it was Gouki that killed Gouken.
“Suto II: Hadouken no nazo” does mention Gouken, Gouki, and Goutetsu by name, however – the second-to-the-last question in the book gives a brief overview of SSFIIX, including the earliest available info on Gouki: his name, the names of his brother and his master, the names of his special techniques, basic data profile info, and one of the earliest references I’ve ever seen to “satsui no hadou” [the Hadou of Murderous Intent].
I’m thinking that it’s likely that the information contained in “Suto II: Hadouken no nazo” was probably being compiled, written, and edited for at least several months before its publication (if not longer). By the time it was published, the theatrical anime film “Street Fighter II” was already screening in Japanese movie theaters, in which it was indicated that Ryu received his red headband from Ken (eventually working its way into the game series via Ken’s ZERO 2/ALPHA 2 ending). Whether the “Ken gives the headband” idea came from the film’s staff or CAPCOM’s, and whether CAPCOM had decided to go with this idea prior to the publication of “Suto II: Hadouken no nazo” is purely a matter of speculation. However, the apparent lack of movie-related information in that book would seem to indicate that either CAPCOM did not provide the book’s authors with that info, or that the book was already on its way to the printers by the time that info was available.
Anyway, vasili10’s been waiting patiently to hear some results from my research, so I just wanted to get this out there. My apologies if this has been previously posted here, but I assumed it hadn’t since this book (and this portion of it) aren’t mentioned in the version of the SF Plot Guide vasili10 sent me. Oh, yeah – here’s the details on my source:
[Title] Suto II: Hadouken no nazo
[Publisher] Shinseisha
[Published] 6/9/1994
[Price] 980 yen
The above-translated text is found on pages 8-9 of this book.

Thanks for that clear up. I was really confused about that
Sure thing. :wgrin:
Who’s Vulcana Russo?
A character from EX?
Is he/she strong?
Is the Suto II book still available somewhere?
Can one of you tell me if there is anything interesting (= not game strategy) in this book:

Thanks!
Vulcana Russo?
or is there any good sites I can get info on Street Fighter’s EX back story?
This is basicly all I know :
That cool ass back story behind Kairi & Garuda left me wondering about the other’s.
There are a few copies of HnN floating around Jap. auction sites, which would be the most probable way to get it nowadays.
Dunno about the other book. It’s been on my list of suspected books, mainly because it’s quite larger than other SF books of its day, but I’m doubting it has any juicy storyline material.
cool kairi’s story there …
i love garuda , he’s a badass
Yeah it sucks none of the characters were made canon.
I know some of the EX characters were a little too powerful.
But I still wanna see more. I saw a pic of Vulcana Russo. Now that I know what he looks like I kinda hate him. He looks too stupid to be powerful.

Garuda is awsome though. I would like to see him in The udon comic , if Akuma got destroyed by Gill or something…
Hey what’s that little symbol by my name mean. Sano has a red explanation point…
It’s by the post number.
