Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Let’s say 60-80%, most likely…

Hey, we’re here on the biggest Capcom fighting fan board, and yet we don’t get more than 5%, at most, of the people stopping by here to discuss storyline. The other 95% are more interested in how much damage you can do with V-Ism Zangief than whether he’s gay or not.

As much of a storyline nut as I am, even I prefer to pass on that subject.

Actually, nearly everyone I see seems interested in whether or not Zangief is gay or Poison is a man once the subject actually comes up. :stuck_out_tongue: The rest of the SF story details though are generally in the ‘don’t care’ range.

It’s because this thread is hidden away. I only found it by accident when somebody linked to it in another thread. If this thread was in the Street Fighter comic forum it would be more popular but then, that may not be a good thing.

This thread started in Fighting Game Discussion before they moved it here. I still don’t understand why. We are discussing a fighting game. There’s no rule that says we can only discuss certain aspects of it. Seriously, what the fuck?! It’s not like we were posting Street Fighter stories there!! Fuckin’ SRK!!! They’re all a buncha’ fuckers!! I WANT A GOD DAMN EXPLANATION!!!

Reinforcing Golden Dragon’s points, I never knew that this thread was originally under Fighting Game Discussion before it came to the Fan Fiction Library. Why did it make such a move, SRK? Were its contents too unorthodox or what?

I never knew about this thread’s predecessor, but I’m extremely impressed that Saiki’s expectations for resurrection of it have been well exceeded, and I’m very pleased to continue contributing to it.

Getting back to relevant topics, working on the pre-mook accounts now, probably the oldest info ever published, we’re talking 1991 here. Watch for these in the next few days minna san.

With help from Golden Dragon and the Red Cyclone webmaster, the official source of the cartoonish dolls has been confirmed. Capcom in 1993 and 1994 brought out a club-members-only publication called Club Capcom, one of the issues the source for the Delta Red Cammy w/ Maki pic as its cover. Only three issues of Club Capcom were made, then in 1996 Capcom brought out more stuff for devoted members, three issues of CFC (Capcom Friendly Club) Fan-Book, later to change names to simply Cap!, and from then until around 2002 I think, twelve more issues were made, for a total of 15 in the series. Issue #8 of these 15 is where the cartoonish dolls come from.
I don’t have any of these issues yet myself, but I suspect that they’ll be probably where any missing questions will be answered, and if Gamest World still turns up zero with her, these will be the next (and unfortunately most likely the last) places to hunt.

Oh, and I don’t think I’ve said this for a while; long live the thread!!! Domo arigatou for viewing and reading minna san. :bgrin:

Heh, before the Thread moved here it was very briefly in the General Discussion Forum. I wonder if the people who moved it here are still around or even remember why they did it. Even on the thread (this was back when I was reading and not posting) people asked “Why the thread was moved” and no one answered.

Oh well, even though we only talk to a few people here in this forum, have you seen what the Fighting Game Discussion forum has become in the last few years as opposed to how it was when this Thread was there? I’m not interested in getting into pointless flame wars and the random poster saying “Ryu is Gay.” That forum along with the General Discussion forum gives SRK the bad reputation it has. Ask people on other websites. I always tell people there are like 10 other forums and it’s not always like that here at SRK, there are some of the coolest people I’ve ever met here if you look around. No offense to Fighting Game Discussions and General but if you post there you prolly know what I’m talking about. There are some good people there too. Heck, those two forums prolly keep SRK alive… I just wish more people posted in this Fan Fiction forum, PERIOD. Even just to write Fan Fiction, we really don’t have a lot of new Fan Fics to read.

Not sure if this is mentioned, but in the US version of SF Eternal where it describes Gouki’s SF3 Third Strike Ending it says nothing about him killing people. At all. If you need more confirmation that Gouki didn’t kill those submarine sailors.

Fan Fics are gay! No just kidding.

Oooo, sweet. Some actual confirmation of that 12 Dolls pic being official for sure is niftiness.

Huzzah! “Lives of SF” added Adon to the collection of character bios!

Adon, who came from a poor family, had dreamt of achieving success in the Muay Thai world since he was a young boy. Many young people in Thailand fight for the same dream. He would challenge any opponent he could find. One day, Adon happened to run into Sagat, the current emperor of Muay Thai, and challenged Sagat to a match. The battle resulted in Adon suffering an overwhelming defeat. Afterwards, Sagat left him with these words:

“Muay Thai is the strongest in the world.”

Sagat’s words instilled a desire within Adon to train harder than ever before.

I couldn’t understand the translation for the following sentence:
??? ???

It is said that the news of Sagat’s defeat at the hands of Ryu had crushed Adon’s boyhood dreams. Adon felt betrayed by Sagat, the man who had once told him that Muay Thai was the world’s strongest fighting style. The feelings of betrayal soon turned into hatred.

Good news. I got my FTP to work again, so I’ll be updating FM soonish. Already prepared a Mortal Kombat Deception update, any suggestions on what to do next?
Also, please send updated story FAQs to my Yahoo address if there are any.

Add Vasili10’s Warzard bios for CFJ to the Warzard Characters in the CFE/CFAS section.

Is there any website or any catalogue or book or something about the Street Fighter Bandai cards? Or at least a list? Or do i gotta make that? I’ll update my site veeeery soon. I got more webspace now.

Also if you find more of those little SF icons (like on the Red Cyclone Page) let me know please.

When I order something from the USA I don’t get it to my house sometimes but instead I only get a note and have to pick it up myself which I hate. Today when I went to the duane place I brought the wrong bill because they never tell you shit and what it’s all about and I also waited for a different package and thought that was it. So they say they wanted to open it and I’m like fuck you that’s my shit you won’t open nuttin, so after a long ass discussion they opened it anyway and it was the US version of EC and now I gotta wait another week till I can bring the bill but I usually work when they’re opened so I can’t go there and it’s laying around there and getting more and more scrubby and that pisses me off. Aarggh!

At least I got the Japanese version.

Siegfried - Here’s what I’m talking about. Even though Ingrid’s tidbit adds nothing, you may want to include it. :nunchuck:

Hey aerialgroove

I was just checking out your site, it’s very nicely done  thought I’d mention that Blockheads was a band that was doing a tour the year SF1 was released (I think they just reformed or something). This is why there is a shop in the background of Birdies stage. Might be useful for the plotguide as well.

I also remember being told the advert in Hondas bg is for soap, but I don’t know how reliable the source is. One of my jap friends told me but he may have just made it up.

Mohammed Ali

I always appreciate this type of info, thank you very much!

EDIT
When a Japanese cartoon character is horny his nose starts to bleed like crazy. Do Zangiefs forehead blood fountains mean anything? Is he just angry? He has it on several drawings.

I know for sure now that both Guile and Nash smoke. Add that to the Plot Guide (if you want).

Remember that b/w art collection of all 12 SFII characters (the one were Sagat is training with a trunk)? Balrog’s pic shows him with snakes and wild cats and one of the snakes wears a mask like him, kind of silly. Also his servant says something in Japanese, what does he say?

And so, Adon responded that the true measure of a Muay Thai fighter is how one’s body is applied, yet it’s been decided so that sovereign Sagat amassed a high ranking concerning social status.

Two excerpts from the SF2 Gamest pre-mook, more to come of course:

Ryu from Gamest SF2

The main character in outline. Aiming at the true fighting style, he’s wanderingly journeying. In short he is not of the true fighting style. His property is only a gi suit and a long headband. Unless there’s a dwelling now without a job, the meaning would be as with Blanka a wild fellow.
Well, hearing of his graduated rival Ken’s warrior training in America, what a trip with managed expenses (how he made it is a mystery) he proceeds toward North America.
As for his sure killing techniques, he administers the entire body’s ki and concentrates it to release as the “hadouken,” he climbs well and returns back with the scary double-edged “shoryuken,” from a step the quick and yet dizzying “tatsumaki senpuukyaku” are the three moves.
Steadily walking barefoot through the course of the seasons, regardless of the weather Ryu sees completion of the way as just another spent sheet (what a guy) and believes other people already don’t realize he even exists. However that sort of matter is fine either way. For him in the game world as a resident determines let’s give him utilization!
Ryu’s distinctive feature as it is, unlike Ken the words of his win quotes are believed to raise up opponents. Ken provoking wherever, feelings of angering hatred are harbored.
From Ryu’s view though he a good guy yet conclusively rash.
Because, unsuccessful person that he is, surely he’d realize from the lost purse. Dreadful!

Ken from Gamest SF2

A fellow student pal, for Ryu a lifelong worthy opponent and approval, and for the mutual agreement between them to become stronger and tougher with each successive meeting, he crossed into America for warrior training.
However with him having gotten used to peace away from actual fighting, unawaringly he’s forgotten about the battles.
In time having left the blood offered past for a lover and sweet person on the basis of Ken skipping the strikes that day, 1 letter arrived.
It was a letter from Ryu.
The fighting style in his blood was once more greatly excited as until then his fist lately revives with his characteristic berserkness commencing.
Grind, the moment already too late, the idle bill’s remainder already too large, after all this time, Ryu and nothing but the same sure killing techniques not even using those. Throwing 1 turnover too many will his temper at most be expressed?
However this turning astray, therefore, southwise, the degree is said.
The sake for lack of discipline now the one trivial move humbly positioned, by all means with the fixed use of hadoukens, shoryukens, tatsumaki senpuukyakus he’d be quite a tasteless person. For one to say reasonably splendid yet wholly clumsy the fame is useless to feel.
In general, he handed over training for his person’s social standing flirting with his woman and the similar unmentionables.
But, comparing with the other seven people is he actually probably the most ordinary person?

Next time Chun Li and Guile. Now for a few words about English Eternal, finally got it this weekend:

Amazing book and awesome for everything that was awesome in the original. And the extra English pages are wonderfully fan-worthy. But as I suspected, it had to be Capcom USA-ized. Read the important note at the bottom of the staff credits page, and when you’re done read it again. Names of course reflected the note, but storylines I daresay reflect it as well. “Kikouhou” got changed to “chi combat energy,” uh no. One T. Hawk paragraph says his people were decimated, another says evicted. No sentence of “another student” in Gouki’s paragraph, nor even the mention of “Ten” on his back which should be part of the sentence describing his red aura. Endings of course the English ones, and with them all those blunders that’ll leave people saying “wait a minute…but, this isn’t consistent…” Gouki’s SSF2T ending of course didn’t have any text, but couldn’t they have at least looked at his English Revival ending for a reasonable translation? No. Why would they do that? “I am the shadow of the condemned.” Whatever.
These are all due to the source, though. Udon did a magnificent job reproducing Eternal in English, and cannot be held accountable for the damage Capcom USA has already put in place, thus setting up their own confusing canon (if you can call it that). I will say this though to Udon: please stick to the excellent job with the comics, and if you decide to translate again, please strongly consider the remainder of Nakahira Masahiko san’s mangas. Scripts with immediate illustrations are far less prone to alteration and confusion than scripts alone.

Incidentally, who’s shown on the English Eternal cover between Ryu and Sakura?

Thanks for reading everyone. Laters. :wgrin:

Finally got a scanner, HOORAY! Here’s pics of the younger version of Gouki in Ryu Final since I was asked about this on another thread, and it’s best to keep any scans here for prosterity. More scans to come!
