I hear Jin Saotome, Phobos(Huitzil), and Zabel(Lord Raptor) have been spotted on the screen shots.
Holy crap! The SF comics forum has turned into utter chaos! And not SNK vs. Capcom SVC Chaos, REAL CHAOS! I don’t know if it was TAS’s arrival, martinitolove’s terrible thread creating skills or chimitaru’s homophobia, but I’m scared that someone’s gonna hit somebody with a chair! That forum went a good long while without a moderator and now it’s gone to Hell! I contacted Mr. Wizard about getting a mod there, and to any Moderators who happen to be reading this, HEEEEELP!
:annoy: :annoy: :annoy: :annoy: :annoy:
Yea, I think I made note of this in the plot guide. Or maybe I didn’t. I forget what I did and didn’t do with that thing (and damn do I need to update. But… there’s so much I need to update it with and I got a job now so my time is sparse :(). At any rate, there are several SFZ1 endings (namely the ones you listed) that could fit or lead quite seamlessly into SFZ2 and there’s nothing to indicate that they were retconned out otherwise besides Capcom saying SFZ2 ‘replaces’ SFZ1 despite how a lot of SFZ1’s endings could fit into the sequel. Heck, even Sodom’s SFZ1 ending could if I recall correctly.
Understandable; please let me know if you want me to temporarily pause with info blurting so you can catch up or clear your list of updates to do or something. Just one small info blurt for now in case you don’t have it already, and two more HnN questions to go, and if you like I can refrain for a while until the plot guide’s been updated.
Dhalsim’s wife Sally is 17 in SFZ2, found in AASFZ2 and confirmed in AAC.
Looking forward to the next SF Plot Guide version, TiamatRoar! And always anything extra you can provide, Saiki! I know you still come to SRK from time to time. Please don’t wait until I might say I give up on looking for anymore information about her! I may be saying it in the next month or so, and everyone knows I’ll hate to say it! Please show her to us!!
I wonder which chaos is worse? Yeah, it’s definitely a pig-fest over there. Udoneko barely posts there anymore as it is (unless he’s pitching some merchandise). If this continues, he might abandon the forum for good. I swear, it’s like whenever TAS participates in a thread it results in an argument.
Just a note- if anyone has any Rose info, do know that you’ll always have an audience as far as I’m concerned. I may yell at you if you bring up the whole “Bison possessing Rose’s body” thing, but outside of that, I’m all ears.
OK, 2 questions:
-
Is there a clear description of how Soul Power works anywhere? Like Psycho Power is Bison tapping into negative emotions across the world, and I guess he’s able to manipulate it so easily because he’s so hateful (Player Hater’s Ball, round 2!)…is there anything so specific about Soul Power?
-
In the old SFA1 game guide, IIRC it said that Rose belonged to a group of people, and she went off to find Bison and stop him because he was abusing his powers. Is this one of the things that Capcom has changed? Rose refers to Bison being her old master in her SFA3 ending (btw, I forget the word used in the Japanese version, but it wasn’t like Master/Slave master, it was more like teacher, or IIRC more like “mentor,” in case anyone was confused about that). So is it possible they were both part of a larger group? Or was it just the two of them training together as far as the current story goes?
edit: the kanji was “shi.”
- I believe there’s an in-depth description of soul power in AAC. vasili10 owns a copy. Ask him.
- According to Saiki, it’s one of the changes made by Capcom USA. I’ve been to many Japanese SF-related fansites and none of them mention a group of ppl/secret order. I know they’re not official sources, but y’know what I mean. M. Bison’s past doesn’t involve an organization of any kind. The earliest event in his life (that’s been revealed) is when he killed his master. I hope that made sense. Obviously he didn’t know Rose then. However, certain official sources mention that Rose had a master who told her that she’s fated to battle a great evil force. This is obviously a reference to M. Bison. What’s strange is that Bison was Rose’s only master… to our knowledge, atleast.
More OT Namco X Capcom stuff.
Megaman of Megaman Legends and Captain Commando will be in the game.
Check this link for the official arts of Rival School’s Hideo and Kyoko!

And a Pic of the cast drawings put together off of the webpage.
One more group pic. Oh, and Felicia and Guy are in with a Red Arramer, wearing armor. Laters!
EDIT: Sakura and Karin are in too.
EDIT #2: Roll Casket of Megaman Legends, Tron Bonne, Kobun(Servbot in the US) and Lei-Lei(Hsienko in the US)are in too. The grand total is 32 Capcom characters that we know of so far.
Looks like whatever problems Comicsone had with Capcom has been resolved, as the SNK vs. Capcom SVC Chaos Hong Kong Comic will be in Comic Book stores this week in the US in English. It’s going to be a big Graphic Novel like Comicsone always does and is going to sell for $13.95.
Points about Bison…
I made a few points on another forum (comic books) but no one seems to be able to answer them. Hence, I will post it here as well.
I know Bison and Rose share the same soul, and that this soul gets fused together again in SFA3. However, I cannot think where it officially states that the soul that is split is Bisons. It could well be someone elses soul that entered 2 different bodies when he passed away, or even Rose’s soul after she expels the evil away from her soul.
Is there any official records in mooks or in the game which say the soul was originally Bisons?
I also just wanted to point out that Bison DIDN’T originally want Ryu to be his host body. If you get the ‘bad’ ending, you see that he only wants to use Ryus power to blow up a city. Nothing about a host body.
In Bison’s ending, he doesn’t mention that he needs a host body, but does say that as long as he has Ryu’s power and body in his hands, he is invincible. I think this also suggests that he is using Ryu as a pawn. It may hint that he wants it as a back up body later in life, but he doesn’t say it at all.
In the Ryu ending however, he does want to use Ryu’s body. I suspect that this is because Ryu just beat the crap out of his last one and so a change would be a good idea :pleased:
I also can’t find a quote from SFA3 that suggests that Cammy was supposed to be a host body at all. In fact, Bison was supprised she was still alive (as he sent Vega to kill her).
Mohammed Ali
It’s funny that you mentioned that. You might have something there. Below is Cammy’s bio taken from the official SFZ3 (Arcade) website. It doesn’t say anything about M. Bison planning to use her as a host body. I think the last sentence says that M. Bison felt that Cammy had become a burden and ordered the dolls (including Cammy, I think) to self destruct. It goes on to say that Cammy is unaware of this. It seems like M. Bison wanted to get rid of Cammy from the very beginning of Alpha 3.

Here’s the answer to HnN #46; parts may be subject to incompatibility nowadays with the Zero series:
Decidedly, it’s world conquest. It can be believed that Vega participates in all evil of the entire world. In that case, what kind of activities are usually done, are said to be the exemplaries of drug smuggling. Vega maintains the enormous drug syndicates. These syndicates operating in turn by the shadowy organization “Shadoloo,” the other parties are nicely considered.
The conjecture from here, the drug smuggling profits in considerable money. With these being funds, even more world conquest activities keep going.
As is natural, a person appears suspecting the syndicates. That is Chun Li’s father. With him as an authorized drugs investigator, the frantic investigation will be sure to have the syndicate’s hideout located. He bravely infiltrated the hideout. In addition, the interest of this organization was sensed. Being an American soldier, Guile’s comrade-in-arms Nash is there. In the midst of war strife he observed by chance a drug smuggling scene. Having skillfully tailed the smuggler, he located the hideout and all was fine…
However, from then on both became unaccounted for. For Vega cruelty is inanimate. Obstacles to world conquest are likely murdered. Moreover, Vega is a fighting techniques expert. A fraction of fighting styles is he unable to compete with. If it’s the case with the remarkable fighting style of Chun Li’s father, could Vega have possibly been defeated?
Nowadays, what activities are Vega’s subordinates perhaps up to in your streets?
Next time HnN #48, AAC’s entry on soul power, and Cammy’s transliterated bio above. Laters. :bgrin:
<3 vasili10
It’s funny because I was just thinking about this yesterday- I was thinking about Rose’s ending and why I don’t think Bison took over her body as was conjectured in the plot FAQ. But, then I realized there was sort of a larger thread of posession with Bison in Ryu and Cammy’s endings…but then I thought of Bison’s A2/3 endings, and the Bad Ending in A3…Bison seems to be using Ryu as a power source, and there’s nothing I could remember offhand about Bison jumping into Cammy’s body (and I know the A3 endings fairly well). So, I was gonna go over the Japanese endings in text form (from the All About SFZ3 book) and search for the kanji for “host,” “possession,” etc…
These are from the US version of SFA3, so needless to say, all disclaimers about Capcom possibly butchering the translation apply.
M. Bison’s Beginning Storyline:
Bison is the leader of the secret organization "Shadaloo."
His inner power is about to exceed what his body can hold.
Psycho Power needs a host that can trap its demonic strength.
A new body that only the strongest of warriors possess…
From Ryu’s ending:
[M.Bison grinning]*1
Huuuh! Haa! Haa! Haaaaaa!
Ryuuuuuuuuuu!!!
You are destined to become my next host body!
Even if the body is vanquished…
My soul is eternal…!! Now, die…!!
From Sagat’s ending:
[M.Bison grinning]*1
Ryu’s body will be mine, once it gives in to the Psycho Power!
After I finish Ryu, I’ll finish you, Sagat!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Haaaa!!
Honestly, I think Bison using Ryu to power the psycho drive instead of using Ryu’s body in Bison’s ending is simply due to Capcom laziness so they could recycle that scene (it’s the bad ending for pretty much everyone)
From Vega vs Bison
10th Stage Boss: M.Bison
M.Bison:
Excellent work Vega…
M.Bison:
I’ll arrange a worthy foe for you as promised.
Vega:
Tell me… That girl… What are you going to do with her?
M.Bison:
She is my substitute body made during the Psycho Power study.
M.Bison:
But the substitute should never exceed the original.
M.Bison:
A doll should never have its own sense of self.
Vega:
…Will you kill her because of that?
Vega:
Out of self preservation?! You coward! You can’t do that!
So there’s your proof of Cammy being made to be his next body (but of course, as far as I can tell, Cammy developed a sense of her own self, so Bison couldn’t use her as a body which is probably why he went after Ryu instead).
From Rose’s ending
[close-up of M.Bison]
Just imagine your future…!
Can you see it?!
Can you see who truly wields the power granted only to us?
It is YOU who stands victorious in the world of eternal doom!!
[close-up of Rose]
…!! …What… what is this…!
This means… you will… No… I myself… will…
[close-up of M.Bison]
Right… we’ll return to where we belong… as was our wish!!
[M.Bison grinning]
Two separate lives share the same… soul…
[M.Bison’s face in flames]
Guwahhhhhh…!!
[white flash then Guy holding Rose in the rain]
Hmm… I was wise to come here quickly…
I felt something unsettling…
…Her wound does not seem fatal but…
…she needs to be taken care of immediately…
[quick flash to a black and white image of M.Bison]
Hmm…! Was it all in my mind…?
That man is gone… He is no longer a threat to this world…
Then… what could this be…? What is this sudden chill…?
Rose’s ending sorta implies the body switch but M. Bison’s dialogue there is too damn cryptic to be sure. Still, with all the other body switching involving Cammy and Ryu, I don’t think it’s that much of a stretch to say the implications in Bison’s cryptic vague speech probably referred to body switching/soul merging/whatever the hell it is. That and honestly, although Bison’s speech is too vague and cryptic to be sure, I think that Guy’s reaction in the aftermath makes it rather clear. A quick black and white flash of Bison and then Guy thinking how Bison is now supposed to be gone and yet he still has this chill as he’s holding Rose is a pretty hefty implication.
…although I wouldn’t mind if anyone could track down an official source that specifically spells it out. I forgot if we were able to find one or not or if Saiki said where it came from.
The quick black and white image of Bison flashes in Cammy’s ending too, making her get really dizzy. It happens right after Bison tells her “I will always be there in your mind!” or something like that as he explodes. Theretically, this could possibly mean that Bison left a piece of himself in her, too. In practice I don’t think it really matters since the Street Fighter official storyline is pretty much DEAD but eh, for those who want to theorize, I suppose.
H’oh, man! I think I’ll uh… STFU, and go sit back down… cough.
From what I can tell from the (possibly butchered, of course) US translation, Cammy was made to be Bison’s next body but she developed a sense of her own self, so she had to be destroyed instead (hence her becoming a burden). Thus Bison sent Vega to go after her, but Vega either failed (playing as Cammy) or was unable to bring himself to do the job (when you play as Vega). Or possibly both. Bison ordering the Dolls to self-destruct is pretty much what he does when you confront Bison with Juni or Juli in the game, but then Juni and Juli’s desire to live kicks in so they override his command. This is, of course, what most likely led to all twelve Dolls turning on Bison in the storyline. I don’t know if he gave the order to Cammy to self-destruct, too. That’s not in Cammy’s storyline when you play as her (if I had to guess, I’d say that Cammy arrived near the end of the Dolls’ battle with Bison so she probably didn’t get the self-destruct order, not that she would have listened to it either, anyways. Both Cammy’s and Juli’s endings portray Cammy as rescuing the Dolls in an aftermath of them getting rocked or pwned or whatever once you remove the ‘Bison exploding’ part).
Cammy, as shown by her dialogue, was of course clueless until the very end about all of this (It completely shocks her when she finds out that Bison wants her terminated) so… that bio is pretty much correct for the most part (although the reasons for her becoming a burden and being made to be the next body etc should have been there…)
Did u use Babelfish? If that’s the case then lemme just point out that BABELFISH IS GARBAGE!!! Below is the translation, courtesy of the tan translater:
“Marvelous technology and reinforced man whom Shadaloo invented.
The transplant of the memory of a complete mind control and Nise is given, and it is attached to the post of the combat data collection.
Hoop and her accident began to happen.
She has not known that yet though the erasure instruction was issued to other reinforced men because her existence has become troublesome as for Vega.”
Edit: Oh, you mean US translation as in Alpha 3, right? My B… heh.
vasili10
Yer assistance is still needed. Thanks for HnN answer, once again.
Yea, I was talking about the US translation of SFA3 and how much it coincided with your comments on what you thought that bio said ^^
Dou itashimashite. S’up?
