According to Blanka’s SF2 backstory (taken from Eternal), he set out in search of his mother and hoped that if he became famous enough she might hear about him and seek him out.
Relating to the cameraman’s role as learned from HnN #17.
Dhalsim’s fighting style may have been inspired by Kalaripayit, an ancient Indian form of combat whose unarmed moves include punches, strikes, kicks, locks, holds, and throws. This martial art requires tremendous flexibility.
Summary of the latest batch of books and junk:
-SF2 Dash Gamest pre-mook: Around two to three batches of storyline text for each of the twelve world warriors. This together with the SF2 pre-mook will have all of Gamest’s info on the original twelve prior to SSF2 and SSF2X. No new info in later books for them until maybe HnN.
-SSF2X Gamest pre-mook poster: double-sided, one side the same as the book’s cover, the other the largest SSF2X character relations chart seen yet. I so wish this would have been included in Eternal together with the SFZ3 and SF3 charts found there. Plus side, lots of links found among characters, even amongst non-playable and a few SF1 characters. Minus side, many uncertainties marked with ?? and such. I’ll be comaparing this chart to the one found in SF2 Complete File and note additions or omissions.
Next to be shipped, the Gamest World issues; hopefully they’ll patch up some areas that thus far can only be accepted as statements of faith.
And here’s the answer to HnN #29 about our favorite original enigma character:
It can probably be said that for psycho power the fighting moves are of one technique. Loaded with rigorous training, moreover becoming able to freely mind control, because of its use for the first time.
For Vega’s case, psycho power’s origin is hatred. Furthermore, the concern for the considerable hatred being strong, acquiring psycho power already made for remarkable power. Ryu, Ken’s hadouken appears to be a kind of psycho power. True, the power’s origin is obscure. In reference to the overseas edition’s Street Fighter (Eagle and Adon debut here) originator, the hadouken’s voice composition became that of psycho fire?
In any case, Vega’s moves using psycho power regarding the instruction manual.
-Psycho crusher attack… psycho power emitting from the hand, high speed rotation due to acquired propulsion. Maximum speed equal to 60 km/h (conjecture).
Head press… Vega’s normal jump strength to the degree of as much as 1 m. However, with the full use of psycho power the head press can jump to a maximum of what 4 m (conjecture).
For normal moves, punches contrary to those utilizing psycho power, what can be said for kicks really not utilizing it, Vega’s abnormally strong kick power (a soccer ball kicked 150 m?), it appears that even without psycho power powerful homicidal kicks can be called forth.
HnN #41 should be ready soon. Keep watching for it. Laters and thanks for reading.
A point from the SF2 Complete File on Joe, he’s 24 during SF. Not much else new on anyone from SF. But AAC, the Fanbook, and SF2 Complete File all seem to agree that once Lee entered SF1 his days were numbered, the first and third sources slightly moreso than the second.
Won the 3S mook this morning; thanks for your encouragement minna-san!
There should at least be an arrow between Ryu and Sagat as ‘rivals’ unlike the chart in Eternal.
Definitely, also for Ken. Prior to the Zero series and the movie, Ryu and Ken both participated in the SF1 tournament against Sagat. With SFZ and beyond, Ryu and Ken took different fighting paths after leaving Gouken and on the way to their SFZ2 battle together.
Hmmm. Didn’t we establish that Ken did not participate in the SF1 Tourney?
And in case you missed out, Namco vs. Capcom RPG! Now excuse me while I step away from the keyboard and breakdance for joy!
And another pic. Now back to breakdancing!
Apparently that wasn’t the case until the Zero series rolled around. I guess the story was still that Ken did participate in the SF1 tourney the SF2 series first came around.
The news of the Namco vs Capcom RPG has kinda’ left me speechless. It seems like Capcom isn’t willing to make another SF, but instead will continue whoring out the rights to their characters (just as I thought) while they sit back and watch the money pile up. Pretty smart, I guess. The game definitely looks interesting, tho.
The good thing about it is: Juni gets another appearance! Too bad she appears to be unplayable though. I wonder if there will be an appearance, however unlikely, by the other dolls (beside Cammy and Juli) as well? Oh, well. At least Strider Hiryu’s there.
This reminds me, shouldn’t Juni be moved up the tier list? She’s said to at least be stronger than Juli. And since she did get more powerful from Akuma’s data, she might even be stronger than Cammy as well.
Wait, so Hadou and Psycho Power may not just be sister powers, but the same thing? That’d be interesting. Daemos may just be right.
vasili10, you are the man! I love your updates as it really adds to the momentum of all the debates we currently have… Keep it up
As for the new RPG. I think it will be fun just running around as our fav SF chars. I imagine the number of Easter Eggs will be enough to keep me happy
Mohammed Ali
Thanks mohammeda1i. Glad you appreciate them. :wgrin:
A note to keep in mind for everyone: when I use the phrase “before the Zero series and such and such…” it’ll most often be a flag that says “this used to be canon but was overriden.” Remember that HnN is older than any listed source for the plot guide, as are all of the Gamest pre-mooks and the SF2 Complete File which you’ll be seeing more excerpts from in the near future. So if more current definitions and explanations have been provided which is what the plot guide is best at providing, take the current info as canon. Yes, Ryu & Ken both used to be in SF1, but not anymore. Ojou-san used to have given Ryu his headband, but not anymore. Chun Li’s father used to have been possibly killed by Vega, now it’s definite. Gouki used to maybe have killed Goutetsu, now it’s certain.
AAC gives definitions for soul power, psycho power, and satsui no hadou, which should be what Saiki has provided before. I believe that hadou and psycho power and all other chi-induced moves are alike in that all these powers are physical manifestations of chi or spirit which is a type of energy within. The difference between them is the emotion or attitude that calls them forth and gives them a different flavor or color.
I realize that several things from older books may be obsolete and will try my best to note them as such; I will still translate them for completion purposes though and provide a small canon history lesson from which obsolete points can become more meaningful later on for things that might’ve been forgotten but were never really overriden by newer developments. This is my rule of thumb for older, ignored info: Ignorance is not equivalent to denial. That’s why we don’t leave out little things that Capcom “forgot” about. If it’s not directly overriden by later accounts and the like, it’s still there and still true.
Thanks for the RPG pics sano. Looks like a really cool project.
Links among SF1 characters??? Fuckin’ sweet. Definitely fill us in on the links included in the poster that aren’t found in other sources. Thanks for the answer to HnN 29.
No problem. Thanks for clearing up that Ken in SF1 deal. Anyway, another pic! Ryu and Ken talk behind Heihachi’s back! OK not really!
You’re welcome dudes. Thanks for reading, poster stuff certainly on the way, but first here’s the answer to HnN #41:
Ever since Dee Jay was young, he was absorbed into music and kickboxing. As a result, he became a super top-notch musician as a kickboxer.
Can another glance at the two be probably how he practiced? At first considering the matter, the destined rhythm from the fact that is said from both, the time of kickboxing practice, if not then constantly playing high-spirited music? Besides coming from the nature of the rhythm’s feeling and a polished fighting sense, due to consideration his own personal rhythm is affixed to his body.
Battling head-to-head with his head constantly flowing with the music, reckless opponents likely can’t wait much longer. Is that not probably Dee Jay’s secret of strength?
Also, amidst head-to-head battling inspiration grows. Lately, in the world as a street fighter beginning to battle as it goes how it all started, with more opponents’ queries of his strength and the degree of strength his inspiration clears, a fresh composition written from what is said to be turned-on persuasive power perhaps?
Besides what is done it is believed that Dee Jay is said to be a wholly optimistic man. You might say his album before long will most certainly be heard. Maybe the vocals already came around (by all means Capcom).
Next time, more Vega. Laters minna san.
Thanks, guy. The art is nice. Too bad it’s only single-player.
Edit: And thank YOU, vasili10. I swear, it’s like you could read 10 different Dee Jay bios and u still wouldn’t learn anything beyond the fact the he’s cheerful and loves music. Even for a fighting game character, he’s one-dimensional. That’s sad.
No problem Golden Dragon. I know just what you mean. There’s still hope though. Once I get to his Fighter’s Story from the SSF2 Gamest pre-mook, that’s around two pages to go through. Hope it won’t be just cheerfulness and music there.
And now for some different matters. Continuing to peruse the “How Gill Survived…” topic in the comics forum, I’m feeling it might be best to start the Zero series coverage with Vega and Gouki. Remember the text file I posted that had accounts of Gouken’s meeting with Vega, Gouken’s meeting with Gouki while Ryu & Ken were young, and Goutetsu training young Gouki and Gouken? Those were short rough preliminaries from a book that was just starting with the scoop on SFZ. The complete versions to come will be longer; they were listed in AASFZ as “Official Stories,” and they were printed in both AASFZ and the SFZ Gamest mook word for word, except Gamest didn’t call them Official Stories, just blocks of text. The SFZ2 accounts are in a similar fashion printed in both AASFZ2 and the SFZ2 Gamest mook, but they’re named after certain trademark super combos, and for SFZ3 the accounts are named the fighter’s respective stage. Good stuff to look forward to. :bgrin:
Finally, is it me or do Chun Li’s, Ken’s and Sagat’s endings in SFZ2 seem to have a fast-forwarded point? It’s as if you could almost cut & paste a scene or two (not dialogue necessarily) from their SFZ1 endings into SFZ2:
Chun Li- SFZ1 ending shows her get beaten up by Vega before flashing to her bedside. Place the slightly modified beating-up scene right before her SFZ2 ending begins and Vega flies to his VTOL.
Ken- SFZ1 ending shows him meeting Eliza for the first time, SFZ2 ending shows they’ve already met. Place the meeting scene between Ken giving Ryu the headband and helping him up, and the scene with Eliza by his side.
Sagat- SFZ1 ending shows him being picked up by Vega and crew, SFZ2 ending has him already on the aircraft. Place the picking up scenes right before the dialogues while in flight.
I don’t know, I think it would have been nice for Gouki’s ending in SFZ2 to show Gouken and Goutetsu like his SFZ1 ending.
Here are the Capcom characters so far that are going to be in Capcom vs. Namco
1 Morrigan Aensland
2 Demitri Maximoff
3 Chun-Li
4 The Grim Reaper from Ghouls n Ghosts
5 M.Bison
6 Strider
7 Aruthr
8 Ryu
9 Ken
10 Akuma
11 Regina
12 Bruce McGivern
13 The last boss from Ghouls n Ghosts
14 Juli
15 Juni
16 Cammy
Yeah, and with the game’s 200 characters, I’d say there’s about 84 more Capcom characters to go. The other 100 should be Namco’s in theory.
