Got my copy of the SVC Chaos SNK vs. Capcom Original Soundtrack. I couldn’t find it in any of the New York Based Japanese stores so I got my copy from Ebay. The music is not that bad, but sounds like it’s from an old game, like Double Dragon or something. I hope SNK/Playmore does a much better job with the Soundtrack in SVC 2.
Yun and Yang will be appearing in Udon’s SF Comic way too early! It looks like Udon will not do the ‘few year jumps’ between any of the SF games and we’ll get to see Mel grow up. With Red Headband Ryu, teen Yun and teen Sakura existing at the same time, the CVS Games can easily fit in Udon Continuity. Only contradiction would be Doll Cammy, but I’m sure they can just have Vega snap his fingers and make her work for him again in a US CVS Comic, if it ever happens.
I got a question that might seem rather unimportant to most of you but this is one of my favorite characters and I need to know for some thingy so here is my q:
Does Rolento have 1 or 2 scars? I have artwork of him where he has one from each eye to the bottom of his face (ie SFZ2 ending) and some where he has only one from above HIS right eye to the bottom of his left cheek. Now what? Thanks.
Also that pic which can be seen in All About SFZ2Alpha and Eternal Challenge of him and two soldiers, does it show Hollywood and El Gado? I think the one guy (not Red Berret) doesn’t look too much like El Gado but they are updside down so who knows. I also think the whole section of the book (2 pages) is unofficial fan art. Or official fan art. Or something but not official Bengus or Akiman stuff.
I think it’s ok if Udon doesn’t follow the continuity, somehow it’s just too complicate for somebody who is not us guys and even one of us would make mistakes, we have to kidnap some good artists and force them to make a story-perfect (SFZ3 crushing) SF comic with little Final Fight and Muscle Bomber features here and there. And an Ojou-san special episode. And lots of pictures of Chun-Li and Ryu just standing there staring at the audience or whatever.
That’s a good one. Q did it.
No idea why the heck I mixed Kazama with Saotome. Sorry, can’t explain it, ask Freud.
But Yun and Yang don’t look like teens in those pictures. They look really young…a lot younger than Sakura, atleast.
As you can see, it’s obvious that there’s a lot of plot guide influence in the SF comic book, but did Udon consult Capcom Japan at all for ANY storyline info? While the plot guide is THE best english source for SF storyline info, there’s no better source for SF storyline canon than Capcom Japan. SF’s storyline has a lotta mysteries/questions that the plot guide hasn’t been able to answer, but perhaps Capcom Japan could. This reminds me of LRG’s situation. Is it that LRG & Udon aren’t bothering to get SF’s storyline info straight from Capcom Japan’s mouth, or is Capcom not giving it to them? Why do Companies like LRG & Udon have to go to a fan-made plot guide for canon info? Why doesn’t Capcom just give their own official storyline to the people that purchase the rights to use them?
Good questions. Capcom Japan probably could answer things, but from what I’ve seen in Eternal they wouldn’t be in the mood to. They just don’t focus on or care about the SF storyline as much as they used to. Either that or they should’ve assigned Arcadia (with a possibility of Gamest veterans) to do Eternal instead of Futabusha.
I think Rolento has one major scar that extends from his forehead between the eyes down to his left side of the face, and several smaller ones on both sides. At least that’s what I can tell from his art I’ve seen thus far.
I think they are Holly Wood and El Gado posing with Rolento in that pic, which is shown right-side-up in Eternal.
What does right-side-up mean? Their heads are on the left side? That doesn’t make sence, you can see their clothing and hair being pulled down by gravity.
I’m sure Udon asks CoJ at least a couple things. For example, we have direct confirmation from the horse’s mouth (IE, Erik Ko himself) that they asked about Chun-Li’s father and were told that Capcom never designed him, so they could just go ahead and use Dorai. Of course, it remains to be seen how much info in the comics they actually got from CoJ and how much is from the plot guide (ditto for LRG). Although… yea, I imagine a lot is probably from the plot guide since a lot of the people who used to work on Street Fighter are sorta like… gone and all, as Saiki implied.
I caught this today after one of your edits! The Udon Comic hasn’t done anything to suggest a Ryu and Chun-Li anything. Well, you can make some ‘reaches’ like Chun-Li’s first appearance she’s sitting across from Ryu, Ken asks Ryu if he’s come across any woman fighters and early on, Chun-Li feels meeting Ryu will change the tide with the Shadowloo fight, but this is serious reaching when they haven’t even met. Udon said they would not pursue any type of Ryu Chun-Li relationship and to my surprise, I don’t give a crap. That’s how much I like the comic.
Golden Dragon - You were right. Yun and Yang do look young. I was so shocked to see them I didn’t notice.
Hmm…I suppose that could be one of the reasons why. Still, the new Capcom members can’t be completely clueless. I have a bunch of questions that haven’t been answered in the plot guide. I’d especially like to know where it’s stated that the SF2 version of M. Bison is in fact a different body than the one from the SFA series and that he ran around in Rose’s body (between SFA3 & SF2) before Shadaloo created the aforementioned new body. I’m sure they could confirm whether or not Hugo is Andore. I wanna know of Haggar is still mayor or not. I’d also like to know where it’s stated that Genryusai’s role was retconned to the 37th Bushinryu master (and Zeku’s master)? I haven’t heard anyone else claim that to be official besides Saiki. Finally, where’s it stated that Gen was a friend of Chun-Li’s dad?
sighs. 'Til I find the righteous one, computer blue.
I meant in Eternal you can see their torsos upright without flipping the book upside-down. They probably should’ve left it the way AASFZ2A has it since you mentioned the gravity aspect of it.
Commenting on Capcom of Japan possibly not having anymore employees who know everything about the storyline anymore, like I said Arcadia could’ve been assigned to do Eternal or something since they might have Gamest veterans, and could remind Capcom of some stuff long forgotten.
Oy Saiki, do you still have the questions I PM’ed you a while ago before the forum started its overhaul? Can I be expecting a reply soon or do I need to send them again to you? Please let me know when you can, it would really help for book searching. Thanks. :bgrin:
I remeber Udoneko saying that Capcom of Japan cares more about how the characters are depicted than storyline. For example(and a stupid example at that), if Udon wanted to do a story of Adon helping an old lady cross the street, Capcom of Japan would say “no.”
On the Street Fighter Zero Anime DVD, the director said he wanted to make Chun-Li a sexy character, I.E. have her flirting with everybody. Capcom of Japan wouldn’t allow it.
Capcom themselves pulled the plug on the short lived Malibu Comics for the same reason. No one was acting in charater, Ryu and Chun-Li were dating, and it sucked bigtime besides all of that. We did make out OK because once it was canceled, Capcom allowed Masaomi Kanzaki’s Manga to come stateside. In the SF2 Animated Movie Book that focuses on Chun-Li (The Magnificent World of Chun-Li) in the Comics section, it mentions the Hong Kong Comics, Masaomi Kanzaki’s comics for Japan, and for the US - Masaomi Kanzaki’s Comics! That’s how ashamed they are of Malibu’s SF Comics. They’d rather put MK’s Manga twice than mention those books.
So for the most part with licensed stuff, I think Capcom mainly cares if the characters are acting the way they are supposed to over storyline, especially since they told Udon that there is no storyline and the Street Fighter Zero Anime sure took liberites.
As far as the Hong Kong Comics however, it seems they are really below Capcom’s radar and they let them do anything. Kill off major characters, have Ryu and Chun-Li dating, give away origins that make no sense whatsoever like Oro having one arm because Gill ripped the other one off years ago, etc. I don’t think Capcom’s entertainment branch is set up very well in Hong Kong to monitor this stuff at all, or they acknowledge the HK comic buying crowd is radically different, or they just don’t care.
Golden Dragon - If you go to the Virgin Records Store on 14th Street in Manhattan, downstairs you can play SVC on X-Box for free! You only get to play a little bit before it cuts you off though. X-Box’s bright colors actually make SVC look a whole lot better than the Arcade Version. Well, bought a used X-Box last week for eighty bucks and I’m waiting for SVC on X-Box to come out next week. Although one store is saying October 13 and not next week. Darn it…
This Month in the US PSM Magazine they had an Article on PS2’s Fiendish Five, their most notorious Villains. The Winners were -
Revolver Ocelot - Metal Gear
Crow AKA Snoop Dog - Def Jam: Fight for New York
Pyramid Head - Silent Hill 2
Phantom - Big Spider in Devil May Cry. Capcom Game, Woot! Woot!
AKUMA!! Two Capcom Games! Hooray!
Here’s what PSM said about Gouki.
AKUMA
M.Bison may be the Street Fighter villain that sticks in most gamers’ minds, but he can’t hold a candle to the incredibly evil (and better dresses) Akuma.
Example of Villainy: For no real important reason, Akuma killed his brother Gouken who also happened to be the teacher of Ryu and Ken.
Example of Extreme Villainy: Not satisfied with mentor mangling, Akuma kills M.Bison, destroys an island with a single punch, splits a mountain in two, and sinks a boat and submarine while training underwater.
How to beat him in the game: He’s very powerful, so… hey, you can play as him against himself! “Stop hitting yourself, Akuma!”
What he’d be doing if he used his evil powers for good: Working as a Big Brother to mentor good kids… and eliminate bad ones.
So on the Plotguide’s Rokiseph/Saiki Gouki disagreement, PSM sides with Saiki on Gouki sinking the Submarine. And they did use the word ‘Ansatsuken’ a while back. Of course they still can’t tell the difference between Makoto and Sakura so…
For real? Brighter colors do sound fabulous, but I thought the game looked fine to begin with. I was never really bothered by SNK’s style. It’s distinguishing. Unfortunately, I’ve NEVER got the chance to play SVC. Regardless of what ppl have said about it, I think I’ll buy it anyway. Looks like fun.
Elena’s father’s name is Jafari
Elena’s older brother’s name is Marcus. He’s regarded as the family’s second-in-command (right underneath Jafari).
Elena’s mother’s name is Amina.
I got this info from yet another Japanese fansite, so I’m not 100% sure if it’s legit. Vasili10, feel free to look through AAC and/or any other official book to find out whether or not those names are official.
Peace.
I have a couple of questions Regarding the first World Warrior tournament. I know that Sagat learned the tiger uppercut later in like alpha 2 or after, but do you think he knew the tiger blow during the first tournament. And do you think Ryu figured out that his style was originally used to kill before or after he hit Sagat with the uppercut that gave him the scar for life. thanks
