> Here’s another interesting thing to note about that pic. Birdie’s got this tatoo on his arm that looks just like the symbol Azreal-Sama had in his old avatar with Rolento and Takane Hibiki (Last Blade 2). It looks kinda like the Transformers logo. I’ve actually seen this thing a lot at SRK. Anyone know what this symbol stands for?
Uhm, that IS the Transformers logo (the Decepticon symbol to be specific). That’s it. There’s no other significance to it. People use it (including Birdie I imagine) because it looks cool.
> - Capcom probably also acknowledges just how stupid the Street Fighter Movie is. I don’t have the sketch with me because my strategy guides been falling apart on me for some time now :bluu:, but I remember there being a cartoony sketch with Ken screaming “Ack! It’s Ryu from Street Fighter: The Movie Game!”, with a crummier looking Ryu trying to throw out a Hodouken.
Close. It’s actually Ryu doing a HK, with the (presumeably from the horrible arcade movie game) quote of “Dazzu-Maki-Zem-Byaku!”.
To Arcadekid:
Yes, Sodom’s an American who desparately wants to be Japanese.
To tsj76:
Vega doesn’t necessarily have to be in some remote part of Spain. Remember, as far as the rest of the world is concerned, he’s just a high-class rich bullfighter. The fact that he’s an assasin for Shadaloo is not publicly known. His history is covered in Tiamat’s plotguide, whichi I won’t bother to repeat here. As for why he works for Shadaloo, I imagine it’s as it was stated in his SF2 bio - to kill ugly people. It’s kinda hard to say, since he IS insane and all.
Ultima: So it seems. Now that I look back at the pic, the rings on Birdie’s fingers appear to be the heads of Optimus Prime and Megatron. Okay, it’s quite apparent that somebody at Capcom is a huge Transformers fan, but unless they were intent on making Birdie also seem like one, which I he probably isn’t, they really ought to have left those details out. :wtf:
I just got back from playing CvS2 at my arcade today, and I feel a need to address something Hcparker said on the second page of this thread about Chun-Li:
Were you talking about the Japanese version? Because I didn’t see Chun-Li tell Sagat to surrender at all in the US version.
My guess is, as a cop, Chun-Li says “Surrender” to people who’ve like, actually done illegal things. Evil Ryu has never really done anything illegal beyond perhaps what Cody does. Gouki, meanwhile, obliterates entire mountain ranges where innocent bystanders happen to be, which is of course entirely illegal.
Yea, I believe it’s been stated that fire balls are as big as they are in the games^^
I think there’s a reason why you can parry almost anything in the game. The way I see it, parrying utilizes chi, as characterized by the blue flash you see after a successful parry. In other words, it takes chi to counter the opponent’s chi that is either projected (hadoken), or channeled into one’s limb (shoryuken).
The amazing thing is though, is that not all of the SF3 cast have had adequate training in martial arts to even manipulate chi, so some of the characters’ parrying animations are executed by rather silly actions such as Hugo deflecting an attack with his belly, or Twelve creating a web from his own glop.
Yeah, that makes perfect sense. Iori is in no way evil, despite him wanting to kill Kyo. The only illegal thing he’s ever done was beat up his team mates after '95. And killing Vice and Mature in '96 doesn’t count 'cuz he did it unwillingly.
Leona killed people in the RoB before when she was a child, and that was before Heidern adopted her. She presumably killed more people when she riotted in '97. Now, I’d bet that if Leona was in CvS2, they would not have Chun-Li tell her to surrender.
And besides, I don’t think there were any officials left to witness Iori killing Vice and Mature, 'cuz Goenitz tore everything down.
Um, that’s just for gameplay. You can’t expect the characters to do something like that in the actual storyline. I mean, what are you gonna say?
Ryu: Oh no, I’m losing the match! I’d better activate my Custom Combo and fast!
Bison: Custom Combo? What’s that? :wtf:
Ryu: It allows me to cancel my attack animations so I can create huge ass combos!
Bison: You’re kidding, right? You play too many fighting games boy! In real life, we don’t have “animations”. Now DIE! Psycho Crushes Ryu
