Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Actually I think it’s possible that Gouken does have legal guardianship over Ryu given the circumstances around how he came into Gouken’s care.

Yeah thats probaly true, but I was talking more along the lines of legal documentaion.

Then again there’s no need for anything that detailed to exist in the SF universe.

To my knowledge, Cody was originally going to be in Zero3 as he was in Final Fight. But one of the employees said, “Shouldn’y Cody be in Jail for beating up so many people?” and that’s how the current Cody became to be…

To TAS:

That Bengus stuff you mentioned in pretty interesting. And it makes sense. Furthermore, it finally provides an explanation for that Retsu/Dan pic (and that Adon/Eagle pic; I always wondered about the significance of that myself).

About that Maki/Cammy art:

I don’t know if Maki knows Cammy or not, but I took one look at that art (this is the one where Maki looks an awful lot like Mai, right?) and knew it was official - it has Bengus’s style written all over it.

To Tiamat:

A couple random bits. First of all, is that “Birdie/Titanic Tim” picture really taht elusive? Doesn’t anyone (besides me) have the Vs. books SFA2 strategy guide with it? I have the book, but not on me (it’s 2000 miles away in NY). I would have scanned the picture months ago if you wanted to see it.

Also, I was told this and it makes sense: All the cameos you see in Ken’s A2 stage are because it’s a costume party.

And I still think Makoto is inspired/ripped off from Akane from Ranma 1/2. If they had a Shun/MAkoto prototype in the art works, they just put it on an Akane body and gave her the lamest excuse for a scarf ever.

About those “Brazillian” SF2 art pieces:

What da hell, doesn’t anyone else know where these are from? These are from the first SF2 manga (that I know of). It took some liberties with the SF2 story (since it really didn’t have much of one att the time), but it got some things right. That was where you first see what Gouken really looks like, for example. I also believe that the character Po Lin, whom A wandering hungry Ryu (note: Ryu IS Goku) crashed with, is what they used for Yun’s gf Hoimei in SF3. I’ve only read the first issue (it’s online somewhere), and bits and pieces of the others. I don’t know if it was ever official (I doubt it), but even if it were, it’s obsolete now.

I have no idea where that A3 Haggar pic came from. It looks really good, but if I were to look hard enough, I might be able to figure out if it was pieced together from other characters, or possibly drawn from scratch (it doesn’t look quite the same as the other A3 artwork).

Okay, back to the stages…

Ryu: Looks like he has the same stage throughout the SF games. Fighting outside of it in Zero2and 3.

Ken: Fights on a boat (his or Eliza’s?) in Zero2. Fights at some resort in Zero3. Fights at the Docks in SSF2T for some reason. In SF3, he’s fighting in a subway station.

Chunli: Except for Zero3, she’s always fighting in city streets. Is it the same village/city throughout?

Zangief: Looks like the Same factory.

Guy:Some place in Metro City.

Sagat: Where did he find the money for that statue?

Blanka:Same fishing village apparently.

Guile: A military base locaed in the Southeast US. I remember reading that the people in his SSF2T stage had names, etc…

Ooo, wow, so that thing about Cody originally being intended to be in Final Fight 1 form is true? Hmm… guess that gives a lot more credibility to Tas then, that one of them could be confirmed (he mentioned it a few pages back). Cool. Aw… I wish it wasn’t ex-art department by SFA3, though. I’d love to see more official Doll pics besides that one dinky little Power Puff girl picture.

Ah, that Shun thing makes a lot more sense, now. Yea, rummaging through the rejected art would have been too weird. :stuck_out_tongue:

To Ultima: Yea, a few people have asked about the Birdie Titanic Tim art. They haven’t been able to find it anywhere on the net and neither have I. Strange. HCParker also has the SFA2 guide, I believe^^ He’s the one that gave me the name of the tag team that Birdie and Titanic Tim made up that was written in the guide. A scan of it would be really keen  But there’s also no rush to get it, at least to the point where we’d angrily force you using our horde of angry monkeys with type writers to rush back to NY just for it

I’d actually be kind of surprised if the guys in Guile’s background did not have names. But never been able to find them.

…a costume party? But yea, it does make sense. It IS a party, after all, so why not a costume one? Happy birthday, Eliza! :stuck_out_tongue:

Hmm… I wonder how trustworthy the SF3 sprites are for gauging height. I know you can’t trust Alpha’s, since Vega/Balrog is INSANELY tall in that game more than he should be, I believe. Still… it is quite interesting to know how the characters stack up against each other like that

aight thank you guys

but does anyone have a picture of Gouken?

Goken Pic

http://streetfighterx.org/news/nukephp/modules/newgallery/ill_sfam/sfam_sketch_gouken

Sorry its not a colored pic, but if youre wondering dark blue gi, tan skin, and brown hair.

Before you ever saw a pic of Goken, did any of you think in a million years that Ryu and Ken’s master looked anything like?

I sure didn’t, I always imagined he looked more similar to Goutetsu or like Gen possibly, you know more of the traditional little old man martial arts master type look.

You can’t judge sprites as a gauge for height measurement.

E.Honda (SFA3 sprite standing pose) and Vega (Spaniard) are too tall for the height stated in their bio.

I have the SFA2 Strategy Guide from Vs. books, too. Here’s the exact text in the Bridie and Titanic Tim art (just to get into further detail):

Birdie & Titanic Tim (SNSM)
They are best friends and rivals. In the pro wrestling world they
were a tag team. (Team Name: “500 Trillion Powers”)

Here’s another interesting thing to note about that pic. Birdie’s got this tatoo on his arm that looks just like the symbol Azreal-Sama had in his old avatar with Rolento and Takane Hibiki (Last Blade 2). It looks kinda like the Transformers logo. I’ve actually seen this thing a lot at SRK. Anyone know what this symbol stands for?

More from the SFA2 Strat Guide…

  • There’s a sketch in there with Sagat standing above a fallen Go Hibiki with blood dripping from where his eye used to be. There’s also an even darker sketch with Sagat clutching his chest as blood drips down onto his wrist tapes and onto the ground.

  • Capcom has drawn Rose along with a lot of other characters nude numerous times, but those were only conceptual sketches that were meant for expressing their general bodily shapes and forms without revealing everything so explicitly. So none of it can be classified as hentai. And besides, do you think they’d really publish a book that contains hentai sketches for all the little ones to see, even if the skecthes were official? :stuck_out_tongue:

  • There’s a sketch in there with a cartoony miniature Adon doing the Jaguar Kick. The text reads, “Now I can finally do the Jaguar Kick!”. It even has the command listed in the pic. I think this represents how Capcom finally decided to make this move an actual special move instead of a random flip kick that the CPU Adon would always do in SF1.

  • There’s a joke sketch of Dan’s dad wearing a Tengu Mask similar to that of Takuma Sakazaki’s in Art of Fighting. There’s two of them in fact, in which the other says that people were mislead into thinking that that was a mask when it’s actually his face! Hmm, Capcom’s fetish for mocking SNK must’ve been more fun for them than I had imagined.

  • There’s a sketch in there of Charlie kickin’ back and smoking a cigarette. Not very noteworthy, I know, though it does seem a bit more enlightening in regards to his reputation and personality. You could probably use this to convince some people that, while Charlie’s obviously educated, he’s not that much of a bookworm in case the fact that he’s a damn serious fighter isn’t good enough.

  • This probably doesn’t mean anything, but there’s another sketch with Charlie fleeing from the waterfall scene from Alpha 2 in a dinky jet, accidentally losing his dog tag. He says. “Have to make a new one again…”.

  • I don’t think TAS has mentioned this one, but there’s another Bengus art with Sodom and Poison. In it, you see Sodom wearing nothing but his often-concealed samurai armor and weaving a kitana fan. Poison is standing right behind him. Maybe this could mean Poison was another character considered to be in SFA3?

  • Capcom probably also acknowledges just how stupid the Street Fighter Movie is. I don’t have the sketch with me because my strategy guides been falling apart on me for some time now :bluu:, but I remember there being a cartoony sketch with Ken screaming “Ack! It’s Ryu from Street Fighter: The Movie Game!”, with a crummier looking Ryu trying to throw out a Hodouken.

The statue is “The Reclining Buddha.” At one time they were all over Thailand (before certain peoples came in and destroyed a lot of them). They have a lot of religious significance, Capcom probably just put that in because it has a lot of cultural significance for people from Thailand, or to give us the impression that Sagat is fighting at/close to a Buddhist place of worship.

Thanks

yeah he is not what I expected

Also, I’d like to see a picture of Titanic Tim.

I don’t think the artwork (Sagat/Guile & Rose/Dhalsim) is official. Mainly because of the Rose/ Dhalsim pic, which is an EXCELLENT drawing, one of the best I’ve ever seen. Looks like it came srtaight from a comic book. (AND somebody should have posted a warning, I was at work! Anyway though.) Dhalsim is married, so I don’t think they’re in any sort of compromising position. And in her SFA3 ending, and Guy’s, she dies. So when would this have occured? I don’t think it did. Why is Sagat so short on that picture?

Actually, why don’t we put some artwork (official) into the thread. Or at least provide links to some, I’d like to see.

you sure about that?

Yeah, I didnt mention that pic, cause I couldn’t remember the other person who was featured in the pic. There’s also antother one in the series I forgot to mention, which is one of Sakura doing a foward punch/jab, but like Ryu’s its nothing special.

About Poision being a potential character, I don’t know that for sure. It could of been a hint for her or possibly Hugo, who ended up appearing in SF3.

Go here. http://streetfighterx.org/menu.php They have alot more official art than any other site Ive seen. Its too bad that they dont’t have the series of pics I keep refering to though.

Also awhile back there used to be a Bengus Gallery site that existed, I think it was a Japanese site though, does anyone know if still exist?

Is it true that Sodom is an American that wants to be a Japenese?

I was watching the SFA Anime the other day in Japanese with Subtitles. In Gouken’s first line in the Anime, I actually hear him say the word “Ansatsuken” when talking to Ryu. Manga Video mistranslates the line as -

“Our style was originally used for killing.”

This is important - at least for me because outside of these Threads this is the first time I’ve heard their fighting style actually called Ansatsuken, even if it’s from an unofficial Anime.

Yep. The part about the reclining Buddhas is fact. (RELS-T122, Intro to World Religions, Loyola University-Easy “A”) About Sagat fighting outside or around a place of worship, that’s just the conclusion I drew from thae facts.

aight that is cool

I’d like a little more info on Sagat and Vega (Claw).

I know Sagat hosted SF1, so I’m assuming he does have a good bit of money. Any idea as to where it came from?

And where did Vega come from? I’ve always assumed he probably lived in some palace in a remote place in Spain, with lots of female maids. Why does he work for Shadowloo, outside of the “I’m an assiasin.” thing?
