Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Capcom could of made some exclusive art for that particular book, like the Haggar one, or perhaps they just gave White Wolf pics that had just been sitting around in their art archives that had never been published.

Yes please post the pic of Maki and Cammy along with any other pic you think is intresting or youve never seen anywhere else or anything like that, and I’ll try and tell you as much as possible about it.

Can you post links to some of those art scenes?

I’d like to see more of them.

I do remember a few official pieces of official artwork where Ryu is smiling, the one with him, Ken and Guy springs to mind.

I just think by SF3, it shows Ryu has matured a great deal and his dialogue with the other charcters shows this.

The Cammy and Maki one is official, and I recognize the other pics, but I forget what they’re from.

For any info on Cammy or Cammy art, just head over to CammyFan.

http://www.cammyfan.com/

It has everything to do with Cammy on it.

When I was talking about the Ryu smiling artwork, I meant I dont think there are any of him by himself smiling. I can think of a few group pics in which he smiles, but no solo ones.

Here are some of those art scenes you wanted to see.

Ok. But this is strange. Does Maki really know Cammy?

I doubt it, but knowing Capcom there’s always a possibility.

Maki knows Shadaloo Cammy in the noncanon-but-alot-converted-into-canon manga, Sakura Ganbaru (the manga where Capcom ripped Karin and Blanka with Dan’s relationship from and made into canon). But… Shadaloo Cammy’s tenure there is the biggest deviation from the canon that manga has. It’s one of the few things that Capcom DIDN’T rip from that manga and decide to make canon (Shadaloo Cammy’s story and personality is VERY different from what happens to her in SFA3, even though a lot of the other characters ended up having some of their Sakura Ganbaru tenures ported to SFA3).

Still, since Cammy knows (well, meets) Maki in that comic, I wouldn’t be too surprised if Capcom decided to make Cammy and Maki knowing each other canon. And I also wouldn’t be surprised if Capcom decided to change it to Delta Red Cammy knowing Maki instead of Shadaloo Cammy, because most characters if they knew about Cammy’s past would have screwed up her storyline royally since a large necesary point of Cammy’s storyline is that the only people who know the truth are either believed to be liers or not talking.

Still… never know, I guess. That’s really interesting that that art is official. I didn’t know whether it was or not, myself^^

On a side note, in regards to the Street Fighter 4 thread going on in the fighting game discussion forum where Tas mentioned that Capcom was considering Shun for an SF3 character before the SFA anime came out (hmm, Makoto looks like Shun… :p)… I don’t think Saiki ever said Shun was not in the concept art of SF3, did he? Just that there was never a beta that didn’t have Ryu or Ken in it? I’d go back to check but I"m at a different computer right now with a really really crappy connection and need to be off in a moment so… erm, sorry

Are those Rose Dhalsim and Sagat Guile arts official? I know that Dhalsim fights Rose in SFA3 when you play as him, but of course Guile never fought Sagat in any SFA3 mid-boss battle… hmm. looks at the arts …nah, I’d be surprised as heck if those were official

The Manjushage was taken from Karin’s SFA3 ending and not from any official statements. While I’m certain that Karin’s ending didn’t happen to any degree, because her ending is NOTHING but her blowing up Shadaloo, although her in-game storyline right up to her mid-boss battle with Sakura probably did, I’m not sure if just because her ending didn’t happen indicates that she doesn’t actually have that satellite.

Course, on a side note, Capcom is so friggin’ lazy in that regard that they made the picture of that satellite the same one as the psycho drive satellite :stuck_out_tongue: …heck, the pic of the room where the Kanzuki zaibatsu satellite operaters were is the same pic as the Shadaloo satellite operating room O_o They didn’t even bother making new art for it :stuck_out_tongue: Wow, when people say that a lot of Alpha 3’s endings in regard to art seem like copy and paste jobs, they weren’t kidding.

I don’t think the Manjushage is in Sakura Ganbaru, but not sure. The employee she calls to operate it, Shibuzaki (not to be confused with her butler, Ishizaki or however you spell it), was in Sakura Ganbaru though.

…eh, I found a translated script of Sakura Ganbaru on a mailing list a while back. But… it’s not on this comp.

Wow, Titanic Tim was considered for SFA3? I didn’t know that. Preliminary reports did mention Haggar as a rumoured character… but… they also mentioned ABIGAIL as a rumoured character, too. Maybe they had him mixed up with Titanic Tim, because even a Slam Masters character has more potential than that guy, IMHO. Preliminary reports also mentioned Eagle, now that I think about it… Heck, I believe those reports are still around on the net if you use a search. But I forget what keywords I plugged in to find them.

Drat, I need to get back to my decent connection so I can look at that art archive. I wonder if it has the elusive Birdie Titanic Tim artwork…

Haggar was fighting in Final Fight 2 during Street Fighter Alpha 2. He’s free for Street Fighter Alpha 3, though, which I guess is why he was a possible character. Final Fight 3 had to have taken place after SFA3, not during, due to Guy being occupied by SFA3, so…

On a side note, Haggar WOULD have been a zangief clone  Well, maybe slightly faster with less sheer power since I don’t think anyone’s as freaking BIG as Zangief, but otherwise… :stuck_out_tongue: But eh, yea, what Tas said. Why not? They had like, SIX different shoto clones (and that’s not including Sakura) and three different Cammy clones already, so another clone of another character wouldn’t have been missed :stuck_out_tongue: People have been wanting Haggar to appear in a street fighter game for ages, too, it seems…

…man, I’d love it if Capcom re-did another SFA3 with touched up in-game storylines and all those extra characters and then some (more playable Dolls!! …eh, besides Juli and Juni, I’m sure the others would have been very different from Cammy had they been playable thanks to the weapons). They could just call it SFA4 and have it replace 3 like 2 replaced 1 or something. Ryu’s SFA3 storyline, if presented at least somewhat similar to the way it really was supposed to be, would have been really cool, I think. Heck, although it wasn’t nearly as badly presented in-game, Cammy’s could use a few in-game presentation touch-ups, too.

…oi, did I get side-tracked. What a huge post.

Um O_o

Rose is nude!

Okay…

Now I see why that’s the ‘Brazilian version’ of the white wolf books.

Back on track,

Two questions

1)Does Sagat have any knowledge of Gouki?

2)Is there anything special about the character’s backgrounds that we don’t know? Like is that Ryu’s Dojo he fights in front of?

Heh, Capcom’s drawn Rose naked before (her SFA2 ending), but not to that extent, so… yea, I’d be kind of surprised if that one were official  And it doesn’t seem to be in any Capcom style…

Well, I heard that that’s Ken’s yacht you fight in front of in Ken’s SF2 stage was his… I believe it’s the same yacht as the one in… well, pretty sure it’s appeared in Alpha in several places (his SFA1 ending?)

When does final fight 1, 2, and 3 take place? because in your canon faq, it says 1987, but then I hear 1989… so which one is right?

Capcom has stated that it takes place in 1987, but the date stated within the games as well as Haggar’s, Guy’s, and Cody’s birthdates that came with the original Final Fight show that it’s 1989, so there are two possible dates for it.

I’d go with Capcom’s statements, here. Since the birthdates were stated waaaaay back during the original Final Fight 1 and since then, I imagine Capcom retroactively changed that, and also, 1989 was Final Fight’s release date so I imagine Capcom just accidentally mixed that up with the game’s canon time when they made the Game Boy Advance updated version, Final Fight One.

Also, Street Fighter Alpha 2 is officially stated to occur during 1998. Therefore, Final Fight One HAS to occur before it, since SFA2, as seen by the fact that Mad Gear has already been taken down and official statements that SFA2 happens at around the same time as Final Fight 2, obviously takes place after Final Fight One.

Tiamat -

A little note about the characters who were to be canidates for SFA3.

I mentioned something similar to this before, but not this detailed.

The picture series that Bengus did shortly before he left (the ones with the white boarder) all/most have a special hidden meaning behind them.

Remember these were all drawn around the time of the production of or post production of Alpha 2.

Ryu - Just a straight foward shot of Ryu. Nothing special.
Chunli - Nothing really, just shows her without the top part of her Alpha outfit for once.
Ken and Eliza - The only nice and sweet pic out of the whole bunch. Is supposed to show that Ken and Eliza had a relationship prior to SF2.
Akuma and the kid - A parody of the SF2:Animated Movie frame/scene that shows Akuma.
Dan and Retsu - *
Bison vs Rose - Shows their connection of spirits, or Bison’s possesion Rose.
Rose and Bison’s hat - Shows the two chars are connected, or that Bison possesed Rose’s body.
Guy and Cody - Hints that Cody might possibly appear in A3.
Charlie and Guile - Hints at Guiles return for A3.
Sodom and Titanic Tim - Hints that Titanic Tim might appear in A3
Adon and Eagle - Hint that Eagle might show up in A3.
Sagat, Vega, and Balrog - Shows that Vega and Balrog might return for A3. (American names btw)

  • I actaully forgot the meaning behind this one. It was one of two things though.
  1. A joke to show that Dan is a failure.

  2. Same as the first but that Dan couldve competed in the first SF tournament and was beaten by the first fighter (Retsu)

Also this pic is the only one in which a previous SF character is shown without it being a hint that they might appear in A3.

The reason why I give two reason for each one of the Rose pics is because when Bengus drew them Capcom wasn’t sure that was the derection that they wanted to go in.

Cody was originaly supposed to appear the way he does in the pic with Guy, or in other words, the way he looked in Final Fight, but later on Capcom decided to go with the whole Cody being in prison thing.

Like I mention above alot of the pics are just hints that certain chars might appear in the next game.

About the Shun and Makoto thing, you gotta a good eye. I never even thought about that or possibly put two and two together. Its more than likely someone liked the design for Shun, but they weren’t gonna use the Ryu has a little bro story, so they just slightly altered Shun, basicaly they just made him girl, he originaly wasnt supposed to be as young as he was in the Alpha movie, so they probaly just made him a girl and gave him a scarf, and who knows, the moves/style she has coulda easily been the ones/one used for Shun since he knew martial arts, but he didnt know the style his older brother used.

Also since nobody tried to answer this question in the SF4 thread in the General Fighting Game Discussion forum, Im gonna try and see if it gets a response here.

"I was thinking about something.

My SF4 (now titled SF:Omega) story is shifted far into the future so that the children of previous street fighters can be combatants in the new tournament. I already know of Mel, Amy, and Datta. Then I began thinking, do any other SFers have kids? Then I rememberd Chun Li has some adopted kids. I began to wonder, would they be around the same age as Mel in my story? (which takes place in 2010 btw)

If so, was it stated how many kids Chun Li has/adopted? or their names, ages, or anything else?

Oh and are there any other offsprings or children of previous SFers Im forgeting?"

Okay thats all the crap I have to talk about for now.

Don’t you mean 1989?

Tas, are all the pics you mentioned at your site?

Quick recap…Why is Cody in jail again? I can’t remember anything. Alzheimers at 18, pitiful…

Two explanations (sigh… crazy Capcom). Capcom states both in various places in All About Capcom. Ack!

First is from Final Fight Revenge. Poison framed him for his crimes so Edi. E arrested him.

Second is Street Fighter Alpha 3. Cody just kept on getting into fights on the streets so the cops finally got sick of it and Edi. E arrested him. Getting into lots of random street brawls isn’t very legal, after all.

It’s probably the second explanation, since SFA3 was meant to come out after Final Fight Revenge and it goes along with Cody’s character more.

Maybe it’s a little of both. Final Fight Revenge never said specifically that his crime he was framed for was killing Jessica, so it’s possible that Poison just passed some of the heat onto him AND that combined with his getting into constant street brawls got him into jail. Though if it boils down to it, most likely best to just stick with the second explanation, since Final Fight Revenge’s canonity is questionable.

Oh yea, getting back to a few other things…

I’d be pretty surprised if Sagat knew who Gouki was. Although he fought with and for the longest time hated Ryu, I doubt he went and researched everything about Ryu’s life :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, and yea, Street Fighter Alpha 2 is listed as 1988, not 1989, so there’s no room for Final Fight One to cram in with it. …oi vey.

I thought the Alpha art was of Birdie and Titanic Tim, not Sodom and Titanic Tim?

Hmm… wow, interesting. I wish I could find out more and get more confirmations… particularly about that Shun thing. Since in all honesty, although I can find the tips and reasonings about the other artpiece meanings, I do find it a bit hard to swallow that the SFA Anime movie people would go rummaging through Capcom’s rejected art and use a character from there.

No, but once I get back on my own comp, I’ll put em all up. I’ll tell you when I do.

Oops, that was a typo, it should be Birdie and Titanic Tim, and there’s also a Sodom pic in the series too, just messed up there.

Its not like that. Its more or less that the production of SF3 and and the Alpha movie started around the same time. Some of Capcom’s employees (like the art department) worked closely with some of the people involved in the production of the Alpha moive. They didn’t go rummaging through Capcom’s art archive, its more like one of the artist in Capom’s art department (or possibly the person who created Shun) mentioned it to someone working on the movie, and then it just went on from there.

Also remember companies don’t like to talk about stuff like rejected ideas, concepts, and pre production stages of games.

My theroy is that Capcom dosn’t want to confirm the Shun thing because of the above reasons and the fact that it would lprobaly lead people to thinking that the Alpha movie was canon. If its anything, Capcom wants to have less confusion, due to their past.

The thing about Cody is a combination of both things like you said. Its kinda like Capcom of Japan admiting Revenge is canon, but not entirely. The reason why Capcom had/left him in jail in SFA3 is cause they liked the “fallen hero” idea. They thought it be kinda of cool if the charactars from SFA3 (and FFO) like Guy and Rolento get to see Cody as a fallen hero for the first time, but not only that, the fans/players also get to see Cody as a fallen hero too, its two fold.

Is it true that the master of Ryu and Ken is the brother of Gouki and that Gouki is the father of Ryu?

Gouken, the man who trained Ryu and Ken is Gouki’s brother.

And for the love of god NO!!! Gouki is NOT Ryu’s father.

Gouki is not Ryu’s father, but Gouken is Ryu’s adoptive father, although I doubt that Gouken had leagal guadianship over Ryu, so he’s just always refered to as Ryu’s master.

Okay I got a list for the characters in third strikes height… how I did it? I took Ryu’s height, and measuered him on my TV in cm, then measure the other characters, and then compare it… this is when the characters are standing tall, and not shrunken down(like Alex or Elena).

Alex: 210cm
Ibuki: 153cm
Urien: 205 cm
Yang: 173cm
Makato: 170cm
Q: 220cm
Remy: 200cm
Yun: 173cm
Gill: 205cm
Elena: 200cm
Dudley: 195cm
Oro: 180cm

note* I didn’t put Ryu, Ken, Akuma, or sean because they have the same height and it was stated

I didnt put Hugo because it was already stated

I didnt put 12 and necro because since they have the ability to stretch, and are always hunched, I can’t give a good approximate on what the height is…
