I have some questions about Bison. What exactly is Psycho power??? And why, did Bison submerge himself into so much of it if he knew his body would not be able to contain it? And why didn’t he simply input his psycho power into one of his henchmen, like Sagat or Vega?
No but it’s better then SSF2T where thanks to ret-conning he plays NO role at all in the tournament.
Gil is an ambivalent sort of character, his goal is honorable but the way in which he seeks to attain it is not.
Urien is strictly about power and control, making him more ofa ‘classic’ type villian.
Oro makes it, remember? He says Gil reminds me him of that young kid with the red headband.
Alex is the main character, it just makes sense that he’s not as powerful as Ryu. So of course he’s going to lose. I mean Guile would likely lose to Ryu too.
Dudley does show a great deal of respect towards Ryu in their pre-fight quotes.
Every little bit helps.
Ultima: If it amounts to anything, Dudley has a sub-boss battle with Ryu in Third Strike. I believe he says something like, “Hmm, so you’re that samurai lad I’ve heard so much about?”. Then Ryu tells Dudley that coincidentally, he was looking for him too and would love a chance to fight with England’s “#1 perfect boxer”. Dudley’s impressed by Ryu’s behavior and sees that he has great strength, then says the fight will be enjoyable.
MuayThaiEmperor: Pyscho Power is basically psychic power that increases through the channeling of negative emotions from others, which is why Bison built the Psycho Drive. Bison was always the type whod strive for more power, even though he knew that at some point, hed reach the limit to how much his body can hold. That’s why he created Cammy to be his back-up body, but you can tell he wasn’t anticipating the need for it because he had his ambitions set on finding a better host body that could potentially contain a higher amount of Psycho Power. As you can see in SFA3, Ryu was his main target, but his plan to acquire Ryus body was foiled by Ken, Sakura and Sagat. Afterward, Bison sought to eliminate Cammy for developing a sense of self-preservation, as that totally destroyed the purpose of why she was created in the first place. The rest of the Dolls rebelled against Bison with Cammy, forcing him to retreat a second time, so then after the Psycho Drive was destroyed, his soul was transferred over to Roses fallen body, since it was said that theyd become one soul again. Bisons soul was placed in a newly created body sometime after Guy inadvertently prepared his return by trying to help Rose recover.
So you see, his priority of obtaining a perfect host body was planned out nicely, but that had of course been ruined, so Bison held the tournament in SF2 to get revenge on those who opposed him.
i explained rose’s relationship with bison on this thread somewhere. look through some of the back pages of this thread
There was never a beta SF3 version that didnt have Ryu and Ken in it. Initially, they were planned to not be in SF3 but Capcom quickly changed that.
The whole story about a beta version without Ryu and Ken is just a rumour. They have always been in it.
My storyline concept for Street Fighter 4:
Setting: year 2005
Character roster (includes 30 characters):
The Godly characters:
- Gouki
- Gill
3-5. resurrected Rose + the 2 other persons Bison trained with (assuming that they aren’t Gill and Urien) (these three won’t be selectable)
The demi-gods:
6. Ryu
7. Sagat
8. Urien
The really powerful characters:
9. Ken
10. Guile
11. Chun-Li
The really good scrubs:
12. Sakura
13. Mel
14. Amy
15. Datta
16. Alex
The filler scrubs
17-30. (Anyone that Capcom prefers to include)
The story:
Shadowlaw was slowly rebuilt after its destruction in SF2 (1993). It was being rebuilt secrectly. The characters involved in this are Rose (with Bison’s remaining persona) and the two anonymous characters Bison trained with.
They (having a fake public identity), organized the Street Fighter 4 tournament as a secret means of gathering potential Shadowlaw warriors.
The selectable character lineup would include Sakura (now 31 years old) Mel, Amy, Datta, Alex, and the other filler scrubs. They are all listed in the tournament.
Gouki, Gill, Urien, Ryu, Sagat, Ken, Guile, and Chun-li will be hidden characters. They can only be unlocked only if you play good using the selectable characters.
All these hidden characters are hidden because they aren’t listed on the tournament and are just there for their own personal agenda. But they can still battle anyone plainly for gaming purposes.
Guile and Chun will be there because of a rumor going around about the restructuring of Shadowlaw conspiracy and they have to investigate it.
Ken will be there because uhmm…Ken has always been in any SF game.
Ryu will settle the score with Sagat and Gouki for the last time.
Gill will be there because of the potential threat that the Shadowlaw has over the Illuminati.
One might ask, will the hidden characters’ personal agenda in any way affect the tournament? No because they’ll do their agenda stuff immediately after the tournament.
In this game format, you’ll initially play the new characters. You won’t hate these new characters because…uhmm…well, most of them are blood related to the legendary Street Fighters (Mel, Amy and Datta). Well, that’s better than the clones (but unrelated to the character being cloned) of SF3.
You’ll not regret playing the scrubs because of the chance that you can unlock the veterans by playing them efficiently. Also, maybe the veterans should have a sophisticated ending so that the player can understand how the SF4 storyline goes after unlocking them. The scrubs will probably have only a casual ending.
So that’s it. Not only that you can unlock the veterans, you’ll also get a good ending for them as well.
Well, that’s my concept.
Wow, are you serious about that Saiki?!
Until now, I’ve always heard about how there was a strong repurcussion from the fans that Ken and Ryu weren’t in SF3, so they decided to add them in after the fact. Wow. To be honest, I don’t even remember where I heard that story - it pretty much became common knowledge among every SF fan. Now, I find out it was all just a rumor and hearsay.
Hey, Tiamat, can you imagine the backlash you’re gonna get if you put this tidbit in your faq.
I thought there WAS a strong repercussion from the fans, but only because the information leaked out?
The story was that it was that Ryu and Ken weren’t in the beta, and then the fans complained. I figured that the true story was that Ryu and Ken weren’t planned to be in the game, but word leaked out and the fans complained so Capcom quickly added them in, before SF3 ever entered into beta, thus the story was at least partially true?
Or… am I wrong about that?
That’s a pretty decent concept Agent Guile. THe only problem is, it won’t make much money. Why?
Because you can’t put a quarter in and pick Ryu, Ken, or Chunni.
Sorry dude, but they would HAVE to be playable from the beginning. Capcom would lose oddles and oddles of money. But keep developing, you could turn it into a fan fic for us at least.
Actually, Ryu is the one jobbing for Alex. The more popular guy “jobs” for the newcomer.
Umm no.
Ryu beats Alex fairly easily.
Alex got jobbed to Ryu.
You’re right. It’s probably not a good short term idea.
Well, I just thought that the legends will be hidden to prioritize the scrubs. Anway, the SF legends can be unleashed, so it’s probably a good long term concept.
Sakura could be the top contender for the title because she’s in her 30’s. She could have insanely good chi manipulations by then, which could make other contenders (like Alex) look weak.
Hmm my concept for SF4 is similar to Clay’s.
*Sagat holds the 4th Tournament.
*Invitees (officially) include: Ryu, Ken, Alex, Yun, Yang, Makoto (toss-up), Sean, Hugo, Maki, and Adon.
*Invitees (unofficially): Chunli, Oro, Gouki, Urien.
Main plot: Sagat holds this tournament to settle with Ryu. Sadly he never gets the chance, Urien attacks and kills him before hand.
Urien’s motives for doing this is force Gill’s hand before he (Gill) is ready. By killing Sagat, he starts the process that will lead to the battle Gil spoke of.
Sagat’s death enrages the honorable SF’ers including Ryu. They begin choosing sides and deciding to side against Gil or Urien.
Ryu struggles to keep his emotions in check and to try maintain his neutrality and work towards his confrontation with Gouki.
No, it’s not that it’s not a good short term idea. It’s just not a good ARCADE game idea. If this were console only, I’d be great.
No ORO… bullshit game concept man.
Ultima -
A majority of the things I say in my SF3 post are mostly occured before any version of the game was released, and anything I say about the game I usually refering to the first version released.
The guy spoke of the info worked in the art department, so he didn’t hear to much about the gameplay aspects. I had to put together my own conclusion based on the little info he gave.
When I spoke of Capcom working on the returning/added chars stories and not the other chars, I meant that once they started working on the with the added chars, they stopped paying attention to and stopped working on the new characters, then again Capcom always gives the bare minimum for a chars story in each game so its not like they did much work there, but they finally fixed everthing and added most of the things they intended by Third Strike.
About the hi-res, Im just refering to hi-res compared to the previous (SFA) engine that they were using before.
So here’s a little run down of the info aspect from the source.
Gameplay - Barely anything, only little tidbits.
Artwork - Anything and everything.
Other - Something inbetween what I say above.
Since Gill can control fire and ice anywhere, does that mean Urien can control earth, and electricity from anywhere too?(meaning he can make thunderstorms out of the sky)
Earlier today I was sitting down and drawing some SF chars, and I started drawing Guy and came to a realization and possible theroy as to what might have happend to him.
I know Capcom hasnt released any other info on his current status other than that he’s missing, or in other words they have no idea what to do with him.
Anyways I came to this conclusion. It was stated in the FAQ (I think) that a possible explation to his “missing status” was due to the fact that Bison probaly killed him while he inhabited Rose’s body and Guy was unaware of the fact that Rose was now Bison.
I think thats plausable, but my theroy goes a bit beyond that. Guy stated that Rose’s injuries were serious, and that she needed to be taken to a hospital, but there was probaly no hospital nearby that Guy could get to in a day, so he took Rose/Bison somewhere else, like his place maybe and whatched over her/him, but soon after Bison/Rose awoken and tried to kill Guy.
Now to me one of two things happend.
-
Bison/Rose did in fact get the jump on Guy and killed him.
-
Bison/Rose thought they had killed Guy but in actuallity he was a only beaten into a coma, and Bison/Rose just figured he was dead.
See if he was in a coma for a few years it could explain why no one has heard of/from him. If Guy was found by some stranger and taken to a hospital, Guy would be listed under the name “John Doe” or something other than his own name, which is why Maki wouldnt have been able to find him.
Is this a possible theroy? or have I just let my imagination run wild?
that’s a good idea. i’d be a good fanfic, anyway:cool:. since there’s little chance capcom will release alpha 4, that idea may not go anywhere. even if capcom does do SF 2.5, it’d be hard to work that plot in, since bison would be dead
Urien can control Electricity to Some degree (hence his sphere and thunder supers). His body is the constincy of Iron, meaning that striking it is like hitting a slate of Iron (I don’t whether or not this applies to his whole body or just his skeleton or what). Also judging by his win animation where he punches the ground and flames shoot up around him in a column, I’m guessing he’s incredibly hard to hurt.
Guy is likely in either or a Coma or dead. Basically Capcom needs to account for his whereabouts during the 3rd tournament NOT for the 2nd tournament.
Remember what Karin says, “when there is a threat to the world, the shadow of Bushin will arise”.
Vega/Rose is NOT a threat to the world, he’s weaker then he was previously and he’s out for personal revenge not world conquest. Thus there is no reason for Guy to get involved in the Second Tournament. With Vega’s ‘final’ death at the hands of Gouki, Guy has no reason to get involved again until Gil appears.
