AAC does state on p.32 that several months after Sagat’s defeat Ryu takes up his travels again. That still can mean SFZ/SFZ2 takes place in '88 though if we assume that SF1 took place in late '87 like its real-time release.
Still working on the stuff from AASFZ3; lots more reading to do in that book.
Worse comes to worse, you could deduce that SFA3 takes place in 1990 because of Cammy’s birth date and that she’s supposed to be 16 in SFA3 like the rest of the Dolls.
Wow, in all my years of Cammy research, I never noticed that blue goopy thing before o_O
Yea, I heard about the Doll calendar (I mentioned it once in the Street Fighter thread) ^^ Am pondering ordering it or something but I don’t know much Japanese or ordering from Japan or anything of that sort. Or even if the calendar’s completed yet, really. I stalk Ataru’s page (and the pages of the other two people working on that calendar) quite regularly
Good point. Still, if that was the case and SFA1/SFA2 DID take place in ‘88, I think CAPCOM would probably say a year afterwards instead of several months, in order to be perfectly clear on the amount of time that passed. Basically what I’m saying is, if they meant that a year passed then they would’ve said that a year passed, y’know? Thanks for lookin’ that up for me, vasili10.
Btw, I finally got a response from the RC webmaster. He knows of only the four SFA3 books you mentioned. He hasn’t heard of any others.
vasili10 - It took a while since I had to translate stuff, but no, in the SF2V Manga he is never called Satsui No Hadou Ryu. When the other Ryu approaches the regular Ryu in his subconscious, he tells Ryu something along the lines of him being slow and he’ll take over. Ryu responds twice by saying “!?” twice, which I think transalates too… “!?”
Anywho, at this point the creature has knocked out Vega(Cape) and Balrog(Ninja), and the only other spectaror is the female Shadowloo Soldier. She remarks on how strong Ryu has become, but doesn’t know why.
I still feel it is SNH Ryu, given how he came about and has that Gouki/Ryu teleport that looks just like the games that he does around the creature, the Manga came right before the SFZ Manga that had SNH Ryu in the first installment, it came out in 1996 the same year that SFZ2 came out and they had some insight (But by now everyone knew about the upcoming characters) to have Rolento and Sakura in it even if the game was not out yet, so they prolly had insight on SNH Ryu but kept things like his name mysterious for some reason. Well, in the Japanese games he’s only called Ryu, but in guide books and stuff he’s called Satsui No Hadou Mezzametta Ryu, kind of like how Orochi Iori is never called Riot of Blood Iori or Wild Iori in the Japanese versions of the game.
I forgot to mention that there was also beat up Robotic versions of Dan and Sagat. Sagat’s Robot body had no scar, but his head was missing, so I couldn’t check to see if he was missing an eye.
The SF2V Manga was serialized in Kodansha’s Bom Bom Comics that at the time also had SFZ Gag Strips, along with Mangas based on and including Megaman 7, Megaman X 1, Gundam X, Bomberman, Mystical Ninja(The Konami Game), SD Gundam, Yoshi’s Island and King of Bandit Jing.
I see, nobody gives a damn about the blue blob (for images check page before of this thread). I mean it’s not that it’s anything unusual to have a blue blob on your shoulder if you’re in a special unit…
Ok then I’ll just ask some other questions that I’m sure some of you can answer easily.
When did Sodom’s truck say “wild” (and the guy on the truck had sunnglasses on) in SFA2?
2.Someone said that Noembelu is Native American for November but not really or something like that. Is it just the word November changed to sound a bit more Native?
3.In Twelve’s ending they talk about more versions of his I think it goes up to 14 then, how many of his species are there?
Is there ANY connection to the real Illuminati or at least the completely wrong idea of the public of what it is? Did Capcom just pick any name to answer the question of what the secret organization is?
On a site note: I’m still reading through this complete thread and I’m at about 100. Just want to state that Jiujitsu and Jujistsu are not just two names for exactly the same but to slightly different versions of the same, I myself have been tought Jiujitsu unfortunately without any tradition or Japanese names but I can defenitely say it’s not the same. Not exactly the same. But it doesn’t really matter for any characters (except maybe Hokuto).
So that’s what Akiman does now? http://www12.big.or.jp/~akiman/svc002.jpg
I don’t know, I just don’t see this happening. Chun Li and Cammy after a cat fight maybe, Juni and Juli more likely, but Chun Li and Mai nah Chun Li has too much class and pride for that.
Golden Dragon- AASFZ3 says that in Thailand news spread like wildfire throughout the country of Mue Thai Hero Sagat’s disappearance one year ago, (probably because he went into seclusion to clear his mind of rage and such and bring himself back into focus of his set goals). It also says that for Guy’s info, a peaceful street; one year before the title had been taken back (not sure why it said that, I assume the title of control was relenquished from Mad Gear). Anyway, yes we can assume that prior to SFZ3 Metro City’s enjoyed a year of peace. Oh, and thanks for getting back to me about the books. I thought so.
sano- I figured that the manga wouldn’t mention SnH Ryu by that title. I’ll agree that this Ryu’s a type of prequel to what will become SnH Ryu in the storyline and games, but I still want to believe that the true inspiration came from Masahiko Nakahira’s story and not Baba Yasushi’s, and therefore Satsui no Hadou ni Mezameta Ryu I’ll still acknowledge as Nakahira-san’s “brainchild”. Sorry, too many opinions point out the SF2V manga’s leaning towards the sci-fi and gore aspects, and I can see why Capcom didn’t want to work with things from there.
aerialgroove- Lots of questions you have. I think I may have spoiled you by answering you so quickly the last few days. Reminding you to also read the plot guide as well as the thread for your answers, and remember that patience is a virtue! I’ll answer some stuff you can’t find elsewhere, at least not easily:
-Twelve’s ending shows 12 of him/it ready with the doctor saying that there’s enough raw material for 14 more.
In SFZ2, Sodom’s American graffiti “Wild” truck rarely appears as opposed to his Japanese graffiti truck. Haven’t read anything, but I’m pretty sure storyline-wise he only has the Japanese truck because the other appears once every 64 matches in the home versions of the game and every 4,096 matches in the arcade.
-Haven’t found anything about George Ginzu’s blue blob yet. Nothing’s mentioned in Ginzu’s section in AAC. I’ll keep looking for a separate entry. I always thought it was just an accessory he had, but it always looks where Ginzu looks in artwork, so now I don’t know.

Yeah you might be right there.

The truck also is “translated” all the time in Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold on the PSone SF Collection. Looks silly.
As for the blob, it doesn’t appear in the listing (at least not with a picture, but there ARE in-game pictures of it so it should have appeared). That makes me think that it’s just some kind of weird accessory after all.

No one’s really done anything with the Blue bob as far as Manga creators who’ve dealt with Cammy go (Masahiko Nakahira, Itoh Mami and I’m fairly sure it didn’t show up in those Mangas) and it was a no show in the American SF Cartoon that really dealt with Delta Red. Studio Udon said the Blue Glob is going to play a very important part in storyline, so maybe Capcom will tell them exactly what it is, or they’ll make it all up. Either way, you gotta love the Studio Udon for being hardcore enough to include the Blue Blob! Now I’m just waiting for it to hook up with Doop from X-Statix! Another Glob no one knows what is!
“2.Someone said that Noembelu is Native American for November but not really or something like that. Is it just the word November changed to sound a bit more Native?”
“4. Is there ANY connection to the real Illuminati or at least the completely wrong idea of the public of what it is? Did Capcom just pick any name to answer the question of what the secret organization is?”
In Spanish, the name for November is “Noviembre.” I’m no expert on Native American languages, but I’m fairly sure they didn’t have names for Months and if they did they would sound nothing like the names we use. It’s kind of a gray area since there are people in Mexico that never integrated with Spaniards and the like and are still the same exact people, kind of like the Native Americans of the US. Lots of words from the Natives have been incorporated into Spanish and for that reason, Mexicans have different words in Spanish than other Latinos. Same thing in the Carribean islands, but for some reason many of the words from the Carribean Islands have been incorporated into Spain’s Spanish and even English like Hurricane - Huracano, God of Wind, Carribean - Nomadic War conquering tribe known as the Caribes, etc. I don’t think Capcom is going to bother researching what the Native Americans of Mexico’s word for November or what would sound like November, given they originally wanted to call T.Hawk Geronimo of all things until Capcom USA said, NOOOOO!!! Capcom USA finally does something right, what a shock!
No. Capcom just tacked on a name. Hell, there are more connections to the Illuminati in the SF2V Anime’s Shadowloo with the over use of the Triangle on the base (Number 1 symbol of the Illuminati) and the Eagle Head, another Illuminati symbol. By the by, both the triangle and the Eagle Head are on the back of the American Dollar Bill reinforcing the Theory that the Illuminati controls all Money! MWAHAHAHAHA!
Anyway, if you want a better/pretty damn near perfect interpretation of the Illuminati of legend, you should check out the Cartoon Gargoyles. Yeah, it’s beyond shocking that it came from Disney, but the Illuminati’s probably not real anyway. (sano hides out just in case since he doesn’t want to mysteriously dissapear…)
Thank you very much.
I just compared the pics of Cammy and Delta Red with the Udon comic and while Capcom’s red deltas are upside down, Udon’s aren’t. But I always found that confusing myself since a “delta” has to be like a pyramid not updside down like Cammy has it so it’s ok I guess and it doesn’t change much about the story.
Which version of SFII Animated Movie on DVD is the best? I saw at least three different versions, some saying uncut, some saying special edition.
What are the differences?
To all owners of Street Fighter Eternal Challenge and possibly a scanner: I’ve been reading book reviews that there’s a Street Fighter merchandise gallery section in the book. Any books included here too? Any that we may not be familiar with? Please let me know minna-san, and thanks.
I just got the SFA2 guide by Versus Books and it has more original artwork and sketches of SFZ2 than any artbook or All About book or Gamest Mook.
If you see it, buy it! There is the Birdie/Titan The Great pic and even one of Gouken and Goutetsu and lot’s more. Unfortunately the poster is missing in my one, any of you guys got it? Just curious what was on the poster it says “GIANT 2-SIDED WALL POSTER!”
It’s a Poster of the Entire Cast of SFZ2 inside the Number 2. I gave my Poster away to a kid when I was teaching an After Shool Drawing Class one year in Harlem in New York City. Hey, gotta spread the Fandom! Anyway, this drawing has been reproduced lots so I have it in other books.
I also showed the kids the Street Fighter Zero Anime on the last day of class when we had a Pizza Party! While sano is supposed to be teaching kids to draw, he in turn uses the oppurtunity to create more SF Fans, MWAHAHAHA! Well, one kid was into drawing at least. The rest of them I had to find ways to entertain them and keep them from beating each other up…
vasili10 - I believe the Merchandise in SF Eternal is all stuff that’s on SF’s 15th Anniversary Website. The Ninety Dollar figure collection, the model of Chun-Li(Not the six foot six thousand dollar one, the one you can actually afford), a Shinkiro Mat among other stuff. I don’t think there’s any books but I’ll double check.
There are actually two of Gouken and Goutetsu in that book, see if you can find them. The poster has the pic that sano mentioned on one side, basically the group pic thats on your Gamest mook’s cover but against a white background like the cover of AASFZ2 and blown up to a nice large size. The other side has a blown-up group pic seen in the Secret File for SFZ2: http://www.arcadeflyers.com/?page=flyerdb&subpage=flyer&id=1779&image=4.
Do you have AASFZ or AASFZ2 aerialgroove? Also does anybody know of scans anyplace for Capcom Secret File #25: SF3TS?

-Yes I know. It also has one of Sagat beating Go and Sagat has a bald head while on the colored SFZ1 artwork by Bengus he has hair. But you can still see that the other fighter is a Muay Thai, in the (official) European Capcom forum they didn’t believe me, even the moderator said that Go Hibiki was a SHOTOKAN fighter. I can’t believe how much time I lost with that forum.

-No, only the Gamest Mook and the Secret File for SFZ2.
