M. Bison got a lot worse after SSFIIX, when Revival was released and since then heās just a bully fool. (Revival ending etc)
Dee Jay, well how can you take him serious, mon? All he does is jump around with his rattles and make music. And wear sunglasses, mon.
And since Birdie is black heās also stupid, Iād say the most stupid SF character ever by far. You might say Blanka isnāt very smart either but he grew up in the jungle and is kinda like Tarzan, he doesnāt count. You might also say that Birdie isnāt āthat stupidā referring to his SFZ3 ending but we know that the SFZ3 endings are complete crap that change all characters and their stories and even if you use the ending to gauge his IQ all you can end up is M. Bison is EVEN MORE stupid. Theyāre the stupid duo.
Before Birdie was black (SFI) he had a mean look like Adon. Now he has a really retarded look and says smart stuff like āBOOā. As you can see in his SFZ2 ending heās a head-through-the-wall-idiot.
There you have it. Not one serious black character (Elena excluded but sheās a woman).
What do you guys think about it?
Oh and donāt forget the design sketches of SFII that featured a slave negro in chains.

Yeah I just realized it myself, how could I forget Dudley. Ok Dudley isnāt a joke but I got one more, Damned is the typical black capcom jerk. His FFR ending reminded me a lot of Dee Jay. And heās also constantly smiling and laughing but not in an evil way, more in a really really stupid way.

Still reading this thread (nearly done) sometimes the Sumo, who later was said to be E. Honda, is called āFujinoyamaā and sometimes āFujiyamaā. I know itās not important but Iād still like to know whatās correct.
Iām glad that sombody finally spoke about the lack of good characterization of black charcaters in the SF world. I think it kinda sucks that for the most part Blacks in games are usually dumb muscle. Now Iāve read Tiamant Roarās SF faq several times. So I know some characters like Birdie and M.Bison might be smaret than they look. I have aslo followed this thread since before the original one got deleted(now thatās old school). I just wish that there can be a game where th black characters were not jokes. The only one I can think of is the black guy from Mark of the Wolves. Oh yeah and Eddie Gordo and Bruce Irvin from Tekken. I hope that in the next SF they have a Black character who does not box and is just a normal guy with no chip on his shoulder, Oh yeah and that big lip sh** needs to stop. Thatās racist as all hell. You ever see Balrog get hit in Alpha 3. Itās like a skit out the Chapelle Show. Well anyway I donāt wanna sound like an angry black man so I will ask someother questions. Do you think in the SF tournament Adon fought in the tounry or just fought Ryu. Iāve always though it was cool in Sf that you fight all these people then Sagat or Vega(Japanese name) is just waiting for you after youāve fought like 8 people:lol:. And my other question has to do with the Raging Demon. Iāve heard from faqs that it takes you to hell. I donāt deny this because itās supposed to be official. But I think this is kinda stupid. I wondered about that too, since Adon is mad at Sagat for losing against Ryu but to fight the final boss he had to beat Adon I guess. Otherwise someone else beat Adon and then Ryu beat him in the semi finals or something like that. Iām sure Tiamat knows it.

Ryu knocked Adon out with one Shoryuken during SF1. Adon is mad at Sagat because he uses Internet style logic in his arguments. He believes Sagat shamed Mue Thai and Adon didnāt.
Iām going to leave Sean out since heās a victim of circumstance. He was supposed to be the only Ansatsuken Character in SF3 and a serious character, but when the fans demanded Ryu and Ken, he became a joke character. Heās half Japanese and half Brazilian, so heās a bit different from say, Mike Bison or Birdie.
I think Capcom made progress in this area whan they created Elena and Dudley. But sadly they have straight hair and blue eyes as opposed to wooley hair and brown eyes. Itās like Capcom takes two steps forward and three steps back.
You have to understand that there arenāt that many people of color living in Japan so the information they use when creating said characters is from the Media which often portrays a very negative image. Over the years, things have gotten better in the USA, but we still have problems here with clowns like Eddie Murphy making shows like the PJs disgracing everybody and of all the voices in Shrek, he has to provide that of a JACKASS! Damn. Someone tie Eddie Murphy to a chair and make him watch Bamboozled, please!
The only Anime I can think of that portrayed Blacks fairly was Cowboy Bebop. And even though they had an episode that was heavlily inspired by Blaxploitation Movies (Not that those were the greatest things on Earth by the by) they still had Blacks eating Watermelons! Oooh, like I said, two steps forward, three steps back.

You made a few good statements there BUT Urien is not black. He is white and turns greek goddish brown (athletic or whatever you want to call it) when heās fighting. You can see it in his intro.
When you said that thing about not many black people in Japane the TV show Tokyo Breakfast came to my mind. If you never saw Tokyo Breakfast you really missed something (they only released the Pilot but itās all over the net and quite popular) and I think itās really fresh and if the show would ever be released it would have been full of running gags but they might offend some people I think. Sorry offtopic but you should watch it.
EDIT: Itās funny cause you get an idea of the impressions Japanese people have of sit com crap and other āblackā media like hip hop-pop music and such, not cause they say Niggaaa in every second sentence. Like I said some people might be offended and thatās probably why it never was released.

What does it matter if you believe in it or not? The Japanese as an overwhelming majority believe in it, and SF is originally a Japanese product.
