I believe the original point was that things that used to be attainable through gameplay have been removed from games in order to force gamers to buy them as DLC.

These devices haven’t been in existence for any console that allows trophy’s or achievements in this generation. Obviously Microsoft or Sony doesn’t want you to cheat to get these items but yeah. Shit like that doesn’t exist for current consoles anymore. Handhelds are another story though.

Cheats/unlocks used to be something that was added to add more replay value, making it seem like the game is worth more based on the time you put into it. I think everyone used the immortal cheat on any GTA to get max stars to run from the cops forever. I know i did for hours on end even after the game was done.

I’m really astonished how people can’t see the importance of this. No one is forcing you to buy it but it used to be free for everyone. If gamers don’t stop companies for this shit they will keep violating our asses. First its costume dlc then its color dlc after that its match video dlc now its cheets whats next? Pay to play single player? Its not about my or your 3$ its about the principle and how blatantly obvious it is that instead of giving us a superior product with more content they think about every possible way to f**k us up.
With the way 3DS and Vita are going…that’s shit is going to go also.
I still have my game genie AND my gameshark. Those things were a shitload of fun.

you should get achievements for using cheats
cheats are awesome, if they didn’t take away from achievemnts or just turned them off… i would use them

yeah they are. i just dont get why anyone would get mad, when we’ve been doin this shit since like 1993. now its just not through a 3rd party hack.
Like my post above, the problem isn’t so much what they are doing is what they could’ve been doing and aren’t. Most of the problems isn’t with DLC necessarily; its in the way that Sony/Msoft do business and the way that console developers treat games. Computer games are kind of a dual investment. You can buy it and be almost guaranteed support from the developer and a community to go with it. The developer then can invest further into the first game they make with expansion packs that the fanbase will buy.
Console games are like one night stands that you call back for a second swing; just don’t expect a third or fourth out of it.
