these cheats disable achievements
As it should be…
Who the fuck need cheats for dead rising games?
maybe I can just pay to have my games completed before I play them?
LOL this kinda sucks. Couldn’t go the Saint’s Row route and have built-in codes that prevented you from getting achievements when even one of them were activated?
The problem(s) with this:
Methods of cheating:
[]Developer mode features that were not intended for use in actual play. Basically, the devs doing their jobs. Possible hacks include level selection, infinite health/ammo/invulnerability, speed hacks, being able to turn on/off graphical features.
[]Hacking game data as it is in use by the system. These are REAL hacks. Basically, you say to your PC, “I reject your reality and substitute my own.” Hacks include all the aforementioned developer mode ‘hacks’ and then some. Texture hacking, loc spoofing and just about anything imaginable is possible once you’ve gotten access to the data and are able to manipulate it in realtime.
In the case of dev mode hacking, this stuff is vital in order to create a game. They are not providing an extra service, just getting revenue for something they have to do anyway. Why pay for this? Historically this stuff wasn’t even a feature, let alone something you’d pay for.
As for REAL hacking… what hacker is going to accept this? The point of hacking isn’t the results it produces, but rather the challenge in producing those results. If you can make someone’s life better for releasing a map pack for a game that doesn’t even include an editor, then good job, one extra notch on your keyboard, hacker. Further, and an even more compelling reason this is a bad idea is because all of this stuff is possible anyway! It’s very much like the dev mode hack reasons. If you had access to a hex editor for your Xbox (you don’t and that’s a completely different story… ) you could do all these hacks yourself (well, maybe not the ones that require artwork, assuming you had no other way get digital art made), and it would take mere minutes for most of them.
You’re paying Capcom to be lazy. No, not even that. You’re paying them to do what they already have done and you’ve already payed for. This is double charging in the purist sense. We are now at the bottom (I hope) of the slippery slope that is DLC. I knew we would end up here. And people joke about being able to pay to beat the game. I bet we’ll see something that amounts to just that real soon. Just because this stuff is cheap and it’s not “real” money you’re spending doesn’t make a good argument.
Look at the Gems system. It’s a game within a game that you have to pay extra for. But, if you decide to not pay extra for the full-featured game within the game that you originally signed up to play, then you really aren’t playing that game. That type of shit will eventually kill consoles. They won’t dare do it on a PC because they know it’s futile. But that’s an argument for another day.
sigh DLC…
heh, and some would laugh at the notion of where DLC could end up… this is the shit that happens when you continually think “eh, that’s no big deal…only 5 bucks.” Various “questionable” DLC scam bullshit will continue to thrive because the majority of gamers are foolish with money.(e.g.–“dude, it’s only 5 bucks.”) Actually…it’s not just the category of gamers…it seems like the majority of people in general are flat out retarded when it comes to money(e.g.–government spending)…each new generation is overall worse and dumber than the previous one. It’s a downward spiral that will continue forever, like so many other things in the world.
Anyway, I’m suddenly remembering the hilarious situation with Soul Calibur 4…how 'bout these folks put up some in-game content as “DLC”…and these items were already in the game. Ok, that isn’t much of a surprise…but these items were also things you could unlock by just playing the game. How stupid is that shit? It’s like if spent 5 dollars to see the ending cinematic of a game, when you could’ve seen it eventually by just playing the damn game. Unfuckingbelievable, man. I’ll bet they were laughing hysterically at the fact that any sale transactions of this stuff actually happened. Oh and here’s the other thing… even if you bought those items in SC4…you still have to unlock it by playing the game anyway (*accumulating enough in-game money to purchase them…so you spend real-money to buy things that were already in this game you already paid for…then you still have to play normally to accumulate in-game money to purchase it again anyway.)! Unbelievable.
It’s sad how gamers will pick up DLC regardless of how worthless it’ll be. 3 of my friends bought the DLC maps for MW2, only to delete them because of how bad they were.
This is why I’m seriously debating going full retro-gamer.
This shit has gone well beyond the pale.
As far as this shit not flying on PC, I cannot WAIT for all PC games to adopt a Diablo 3 “always on” scheme, thereby destroying the modding community.
Oh, and a RL money auctionhouse too.
Maybe TxSF 2 will have random gem generation and incorporate a $$$ too.
Fuck this generation of gaming and the stupid fucks who fuckheadedly defend the corporate fuckers fucking them.
Yes, fucking alliteration.

Paying for cheats is some shit you did in middle school when only one person you knew had the issue of GamePro with the cheat and wouldn’t share for free.
Who’s forcing you to buy them? You are choosing to buy them cause you (presumably) enjoy the game. So the purchase feels warranted and justified.
If you don’t like the game or that DLC, don’t buy it. Simple as that.
If you don’t want to pay to unlock special abilities or cheats thats fine, dont do it.
HOWEVER! When Big head mode, camera palette mode, faster speed manipulation, infinite time, ect. That should be earned/unlocked in the game is not available PERIOD because the only way you can get it is by paying with money, thats a fucking problem.
Not exactly new, DLC has always been a bit of a clusterfuck. like that Dead Space one that had such wonders as gold plated weapons for 5 smackers. I can’t really say its a dark age of DLC tho, its actually smart business practice to have this sort of perfectly discrimating product. They’re not forcing you to buy it, but if some guy out there wants to smash up zombies with an infinite chainsaw I bet HE’S happy.
and then there’s gems. lets not talk about that.
A lot of their customers work 9-5 jobs or are at college. Generalising people who put in cheats as lazy, especially when the subject matter is a hobby, is incredibly idiotic.
How do you know about the mentality of millions of people to make such a claim? As for why is a person complaining why do you ask questions you already know the answer to it is the reason why we do everything in the world we are humans; living breathing intelligent being that express out feelings. Also, don’t complain the developer and only to the people that buy it? I can’t agree with that. Y’all better let me know if I’m doing something that you don’t like when I’m putting out my own games. I like to know when I fuck up.
I guess companies are looking at gaming in the same since as women look at their vagina’s.
This DLC is better than Horse Armor.
Wouldn’t any DLC in that analogy be a disease, such as A.I.D.S. or K.I.D.S. ?
