deathfist: yep. I think people are getting confused. I wasn’t saying there aren’t 100%s in marvel…I’m only talking about the ease of killing 1 and usually 2 characters in mvc3 compared to mvc2. pretty different. and not only in the tech skill needed but also being even able to land that hit. there are so many chars that can do 100% with some meter…and they all suck…IM is still 5th/6th compared to others. the other chars are in a whole GOD tier above him. to be able to even get close enough to land that hit is extremely hard. you have to rely on your opponent not knowing how to avoid air to grounds (and then actually being able to execute them) to even try and get the infinite. as good players rarely get ground hit by slow ass ironman.
people aren’t paying attetntion if they think mvc2 finals and mvc3 finals are similar in how often 2 characters just die off 1 random/unlucky mistake. not saying it never happened in mvc2…but they are very very different.

Happy Birthday is when you catch the assist and the point character in a combo.I didn’t know what it was either until they said it on the stream the third or fourth time.
It has something to do with getting something for nothing. Being “gifted” an extra character to kill, essentially.
Some people also refer to them as BOGOs (buy one get one). You know how Marvel slang goes; it rarely makes any real sense.
it’s something that’s come about from how often 2 chars are killed in mvc3. it’s pretty much like getting a gift.
“hey, I stuck something out and can easily confirm that I got my opponents assist too. herp derp combo xx herp derp xfactor. it’s like a birthday gift. I’m so good at fighting gaems!!!”

What were we even talking about then? That’s something I agree with completely, I was just referring to the fact that if you made a big mistake in high-level MvC2 then that’s the match for you. With MvC3, in most cases you’re still in the game unless they tag a dumb assist or THC attempt. I guess it’s just the fact that you jumped in while I was correcting a guy who acted like MvC2 damage was low made it seem like you agreed with him by association.
Please don’t tell me that MvC3/MvC2 is going to become one of those you can’t like them both situations. I got enough of that shit with Chrono Cross/Chrono Trigger. I love MvC3, but I do agree that it is ridiculous how easy it is to kill characters.I don’t think it is going to change though. I think that Capcom really likes the high damage. I mean, even on the lowest damage setting, the damage is only lowered by what, 20%?
Alright just read the post so all the kids would stop crying. All I have to say is fuck. I’m having second thoughts of this game. MvC is BS. I thought it took some skill to win but it seems its all cheap shit. Think I might switch over to SF. No matter what, Dark Phoenix will be there, Wolvy will be there, and all the other BS. Don’t even know about UMVC now…
