Because people want to play Balanced stuff like AE.
Now if you excuse me, I’ll walk away from the computer for putting AE and Balanced in the same sentence.

Yun think fei long and hard about what you’ve done.
I’m joking sir. And yes, there are alot of BS I don’t like about MvC3. And yes, I play low tiers for this or any other game.
But like your question applies, that’s a great conumdrum I too think about. But I guess maybe it’s a new generation of fighters, more than half of which have never played MvC2 or other Vs. series titles and aren’t prepared for playing this game. So many new factors they can’t handle or comphrehend, so they don’t like it. And like all things, that’s the easy route to go about things, especially on the internet: complaining.
That was a good read and I agree DJ

I was hyped for this thread when I read the words “Are you ready to be cheap and old”. Then I actually read the TC post and the excitement squandered from my face, and was replaced by a sullen expression of boredom. The insults about his age, and the probability of him being a 30 year old virgin. The criticizing of his cheap Dark Phoenix tactics were instead replaced by the typical “play 2 win” lecture that has been seen a hundred thousand times before :(.

Seeing Hulk throw, dash, and then super is the most retarded thing ever. To have no options after being throw is as stupid.
Cheap stuff is cheap stuff. Playing to win. Eh, whatever.
Good post, DJ.
I wonder what the new cheap stuff will bring.
But there’s one thing that still bugs/erks me about this game is like the MVC2 god-tier, MVC3’s Phoenix, Wolverine, Wesker, Dante, and Magneto have extremely little to no weaknesses in their game for others to exploit. Its just something that irritates me to no end.
Maybe I’m not liking the whole risk/reward thing for these characters
QFTW, seriously people can only interpret stuff on black-and-white terms. This article isn’t even hating on Viscant himself. The OP may be salty, but the post eloquent enough to deserve more than a simple response as: “salty,” “u mad?” ect…
I agree with the OP, and this is why I think that MvC3 is only played at high-level (Pro competition) because it’s made by Capcom. That game is just as cheap, if not cheaper than 2D MK games, which never got true recognition in the Pro competitive gaming.
Along with all of the engine shortcomings, DP just spoils the game, not to mention that it needs balancing, polish (UMvC3 needs to get rid of the occasional lag, and I’m talking about offline gameplay–not online), and the crazy lightning fast shenanigans (DP’s teleport needs nerfs–add more recovery frames or start-up frames, or more visual cues like her bursting into flames before disappearing; reduce the spam of Phoenix traps, or at least the hit-stunt they cause.)
ALSO, CAPCOM STOP NERFING THE HEALTH OF CHARACTERS. Combos do enough damage in this game already. Logan’s health is fine, just nerf a few of his moves. Zero, Akuma, Sentinel, Magneto, etc… their health is fine, more would be ok, but not less.
It’s definitely that. It’s this complete lack of history that new people lack (since COTA, the VS series was all about making a dumbed down, shinier Street Fighter). And there’s the eternal stigma and misunderstanding of “cheap.” Games today (thankfully) are a lot better balanced than they used to be, and that might be the problem.
Idiots, too. DJ isn’t salty. He’s giving props to Viscant. don’t know how it’s hard to see that unless you didn’t read…
DJ has been around far, far longer than you have.
janoDX aproves this DevilJin thread…
Some of these posts in this thread worry me about the future of this site…
He is a crafty, honorless, cheap old man in a bulletproof vest, bro. Of course he won Marvel. How the fuck does one beat that?
I’m drowning in sorrow.
WARNING: MASSIVE POST ALERT:
I’m going to use MVC2 logic here since I don’t play MvC3. I do have MvC3 though. I think the vast majority of the players here in the heat of the moment with no experience against Noah would have lost to him. The fact he finished top 48 out of 1500 players demonstrates this. He’s probably way better than you think. Nobody at that level however, was going to expect someone to be alternating between walk up throw and standing armored attack all day. If Noah knew he could OTG off the throw with ground rip or even gamma wave on reflex they would have died faster. Blocking wouldn’t come into play because few people would be expecting something like this. Ultimately however, its the fault of the player that got hit and didn’t decide to block the second, third, or fourth time.
The way to beat a player that keeps doing stuff like this is to dash in, dash out, dash back in, repeat until they stick a limb out, and pound the limb. You stay mobile so you don’t get thrown, and don’t do anything except bait whiffed limbs so you don’t commit suicide. The second the limb comes out, you dash in for free combos. You also use empty jump-ins, dash back, and dash back in. free combo when he thinks you’ll attack and whiffs the launch. He wasn’t air throwing into OTG much if any at all, so that’s a free bait.
As for the whole Viscant thing, you guys are forgetting something…
Viscant demonstrated that he can fight with ordinary Phoenix. Phoenix without 5 bars isn’t free. If she lands a combo in the corner, she can harm you significantly, knock you down, and tag out and now she has even more bar. She might even areal exchange causing her to have 5 bars. Ordinary Phoenix does have some combos that will kill instantly. Yes they require meter, but if she catches both your guys, it’s a worthy gamble to use a bar or two to kill them both. Landing the snap doesn’t guarantee you’ll hit her. Mixups can fail, your intended victim can block, and Phoenix can possibly interrupt your attacks if you use the wrong one. You can also possibly eat an assist that results in death. Viscant among others did both of these to his opponents numerous times over the course of the tournament.
As for MvC2 having no combos that kill instantly? BULLSHIT!!!
Hulk-b Doom-b, insert any other character…
-If Hulk hits you along the ground with a flying light attack, anywhere on the screen, you’re eating a combo into Doom rocks, into gamma crush and losing 100% of every character’s health short of Hulk or Juggernaut. [lk, mk, land from jump, dlk, dmk, call Doom, gamma charge, wait, crush. Other version is jump lk, mk, call Doom, dlk, dmk, gamma charge, activate crush…] With anything that can DHC off this [Ironman, Cable, Storm, Blackheart, Ryu, Sentinel, Megaman, Jin, and this is only the characters I use…] Sentinel dies too. The same combo will work when using Storm’s assist, Spiral’s horizontal knifeball. Hulk doesn’t need to hit you either to do this combo. He can air throw you if you’re low to the ground, and if you fail to roll [you will because it isn’t easy…] he can otg with hk, hit confirm, Call Doom, gamma charge, wait, activate the crush, and you’re losing an entire character off ONE bar.
Ironman, insert assist of choice…
Ironman infinite into proton Cannon. You lost a character off one hit. The guardbreak means you’re losing a second guy. The next guardbreak which will result in another infinite, and a DHC combo means you lost the entire game.
Storm Sentinel DHC with the right follow-ups is a death sentence.
Hulk-b, Juggernaut-a [or b], Sentinel-y
-I hit 2 assists, your character doesn’t block, your character dies. Juggernaut isn’t glitched here either.
-I ducking hp while holding juggernaut ground, and you don’t block, you’re dead.
-I flying light attack you, your character instantly dies.
I know at least 20 different combos and combo variations that will instantly kill in MvC2.
I’ve never seen one Super kill an assist until TvC3. Good job capcom!
Psylocke snap to infinite doesn’t approve of this message either.
It’s also possible to lose your entire team in MvC3 off one mistake although it’s unlikely. Someone does a triple super and Hulk does an X factored Gamma crush [double damage] causing it all to miss, hits all 3 guys, and DHCs in someone else.
You should have seen all the “Happy Birthdays”. Someone calls an assist while attacking, Dante or someone else catches them both in a combo, X factors, and 2 charcters are DEAD before the game is 6 seconds old. Actually, Noah did this to someone off camera. My bad, he perfected someone in 6 game seconds.
So I guess Sanford Kelly DID have a point about this game being TOO EASY…
It took you this long?!
to everyone calling him cheap for using phoenix or whatever.
YOU PLAY THIS GAME TO WIN*.*
That’s it.
Where was he at, anyway?
