That was the saltiest and most amazing thing I saw all weekend. When he used teleport the second time, I wondered if he was keeping track that he couldn’t/shouldn’t use it again.
I felt for him though, he was working on quite the comeback.

derrp, many fighting games aren’t like any other fighting game. get the point and maybe read the specifics I’m talking about.
being able to easily kill 1 or 2 characters off of one slight error or unlucky move on your opponent’s part is bad.
Agreed, that was the EVO moment for me
As bad as double snap back into guard break? Sounds about the same to me.
Getting screwed over on 1 error or unlucky move is good, why do you think it’s bad to pay for mistakes?
It’s like how before SF4 you had to commit to a reversal DP and didn’t have FADC to save you if you were baited.
Super Turbo would like a word with you… ToD dizzy combos.
Damn, you sound salty too. Quit taking this to the heart…
To get to the SFIV AE discussion, you should click on the “Forums” link across the top. You would probably like it a bit more than this game.
logan with xf1 and phoenix with xf3 are the only things that create close to insurmountable leads off nothing… every and anything else are people being crybabies which people in the gaming community prove time and time again that they are.
and obviously the tension of making one mistake and it costing you the entire game is something many people can and do appriciate. thats the whole reason i enjoy marvel and starcraft 2 as spectator sports cuz nothings over till the game ends.
all the whiners need to say to themselves well i dont like this game and move the fuck on. then again the crybaby factor does make it more funny
except it’s not. not only is it more prevalent in this game…guard break is never guaranteed. even if it was, it’s never guaranteed kill on the next character.
getting screwed over that bad in a game with no rounds and only 2/3? I think 3/5 would make this slightly more bearable.
super turbo definitely has that. but you get actual rounds in that game at the very least.
while I think the super easy easy mode 1 (and usually 2) character kills in mvc3 are awful…the fact that there aren’t rounds and that it’s 2/3 doesn’t help.
Damn, this has turned out to be a pretty engaging thread. I tell you what really sucks though, is having an old man team from the beginning (Sent/Dante/Phoenix) and then having people in your scene accusing you of cheating because you’re suddenly winning tournaments and they’re salty about it because they all thought you sucked in the past.
Wait, I thought you played MvC2 a lot?
Viscant’s victory was a win for strategy over execution/reaction. Note that his combos are easy (no x-frame links or crazy TK setups) and his Wesker loops are designed for simple Triple-Option-style victory-by-probability.
The best part of Evo MVC3 is that, more than any other game I can remember, this game was won at the select screen. For some unknown reason, many of the top players were obsessed with proving that they could win without Phoenix. This was a perfect setup for Viscant to win and he did so admirably.
The key takeaway from this tournament (and this game as a whole) should be: how many times did you see normal teams get blown up by XF3 shenanigans, and how many times did you see Phoenix teams get blown up by XF3 shenanigans? Phoenix negates XF3, which is perhaps the most important metagame win of them all.
I don’t agree with you at all. He caught an punished assists as well as pulled off some good combos. Playing Wesker well doesn’t = auto cheap. Hagars lariat assist isnt any cheaper than Akumas tatsu or Trons fire. He didnt keep Phoenix a screen length away and just spam moves the whole time, he got in there and mixed it up.
Damage is relatively low in MvC2 and there are no true infinites in the game either…
You will NEVER lose a character in one combo in MvC2…
EDIT: Well except for when you are using the Juggernaut…
umm yea, I hate SFIV. yawn. mvc3 needs a tone down on damage to reduce randomness. I’m not saying it needs to be like sleep fighter 4. damn you people can only see black and white I guess.
shin-ron: I guess we’re watching 2 different games. this is the game where “happy birthday” comes from. ooh, I got 2 characters. xfactor. it wasn’t only logan or jean doing that.
I don’t like it nor do I play it. I’m just commentating how stupid the game looks when watching it and some things that might make it better. though it sounds like there’s damage reduction in umvc3 so capcom already knows what’s up in regards to that.
David Sirlin was right.
What the hell game are you playing? Iron Man can kill an entire TEAM off of a single jab. And don’t even get me started on Magneto’s ROM…
Superior Tech
Gotta admit, being mainly a spectator, it got to eyerolling when I saw Wolvie/Jean xfactor and light people up constantly, or unblockable openers and the like.
Making a mistake and getting KO’d is one thing, but losing to something you cant even defend against, thats pretty lame. And doesnt make for a very interesting watch.
every winning team becomes cheap. First it was wolvie/akuma/phoenix, then it was Dante/Haggar, now Wesker/Haggar/Phoenix?
