Need this on a shirt.
EDIT: Good shit Viscant, I am glad he won.

All of the cheap teams come to the same shit. Cheap ass point character. Cheap ass assist. Cheap ass anchor.
i said logan and jean get shit off of almost nothing… you have to have a really bad assist call to fall in a happy birthday the vast majority of the time and the knowledge of knowing such a mistake is going to cost you two characters gives you more than enough reason not to make bad/auto pilot assist calls.
and if you xfactor for the 2 character kill then your going up against someone with level 3 xfactor and theres lots of characters in the game who can come back off a level 3 xfactor ocv.
cmon just say you dont like the game for what it is and then you no longer have to defend your stance against it. you might feel good afterward
Like Seth and Chen pointed out last night: “Never have I seen a MvC3 tournament where players where picking who they wanted to fight.” Everybody tried to not use Phoenix and at the while, where trying everything in there power to snap her in and kill her. If Phoenix isn’t boss, I don’t know what is.
That has always been my biggest issue with the game. One mistake means you lose one character, which can easily lead into another and then another. X-factor lvl 3 is strong, but it isn’t that strong. I personally wish there was some kind of burst for the amount of damage possible to make even a lick of sense.
And those “mistakes” might not even be mistakes. I swear, I see people get hit by the most random stuff and then they lose the whole game.
cheap is less letters and syllables tho.
Over a long tournament, kinda makes sense that a well-rounded team that hedges all its bets will end up on top in the end, though.
Also, I kinda like that a good point + good assist + good anchor is better than just putting the 3 best points or 3 best assists on one team. There’s some elegance to it.
I’d buy that for a dollar…
cept they were talking about how people were snapping out akuma assists and people started snapping out combofiends spencer… which i thought was a brilliant adjustment… snapping out characters just to get the incoming mixup and mess up a teams synergy is an awesome strat and im glad to see it was rewarded most of the time.
snapping out phoenix has been a staple strat for some time now
Dark Phoenix is still bad though.
please please get started on magneto’s ROM. it does piss poor damage and isn’t even an infinite.
IM has to work work work his ass of to even get the jab (which he probably will never do in most games). even then, it’s not guaranteed win…sometimes, but not always. and that’s still not as prevalent as in mvc3.
shin-ron: yeaaah…no. is that really the best you can do? saying that the last character might have xf3. you aren’t at all countering how stupid and easy it is to kill 1+ characters in this game. the damage is ridiculous and that’s it. xf3 does not make up for it. especially if your opponent effectively runs. and that’s even if you still manage to have xf.
Happy birthday!
Isnt that true for any pro game though? You use the most over powered cheapest BS team/play/ablility w/e because you play to win when money/prizes are on the line
I don’t know what’s better: the people who completely missed the point, or the people who liked the posts completely missing the point.
Nice to see you bring your special brand of stupid into this thread. I thought the lounge got most of it.
ITS ONLY ONE DOLLAR. I GOT SOME ICE COLD WATER.
But no really, why has that shirt not been made yet.
and again, you still didn’t read… HE COMPLIMENTED HIM!!! Jesus fucking christ… I don’t get it. You know what? Im done. Imma go drink a gallon of water and drown.
EDIT: The fuck? Now Im hearing about IM’s infinite and the ROM? Wow…
Neither combo auto-killed someone. The only reason the ROM looked like it auto-killed people is because most MSP players do reset after a couple reps.
The only team that can kill someone in one touch is Team Z (Juggernaut/Tron/Doom)
so what your saying is that you should be able make the mistake of wasting your xfactor, then calling your assist out at a bad time and have weakness in your team and still have a shot at winning? thats weak shit there. less room for mistakes creates more tension and hype. again marvel 3 isnt the only game like this and the most popular games spectator wise and gameplay wise proven that it makes for great games. (im talkin about starcraft 2 btw where you can make one fuck up and end up losing a 20-40 minute game)
People obviously stopped after reading the “He’s old, he’s cheap, he’s cheap AND old” part. I respect the post Devil Jin.
Fighting games at a high level are a competition, and to win a competition, you use the best tools available to you. It’s that simple.
You know what I love about posts like this? This shit could basically derail completely into a completely different and valid topic about FUCKING READING THE GODDAMN POST.
Show of hands to the fucking retards calling DJ salty: Did you read his post? I mean, actually read all the paragraphs? Or did you see the 3 bullet points and your fucking infantile brains just had to click onto the Quick Reply, armed the supremely quick-witted replies of “salty” and “12-year old.” I swear to God, Allah, FSM, One Above All, or whatever deit(ies) you believe that if I were a mod, I would ban the lot of you dumbfucks out of my sheer fucking hatred of utter stupidity. You fuckers are what’s wrong the Internet, SRK, nay, the entire fucking world. What we have here is information backed by opinion, presented by someone who’s historically known for being an intelligent person. What the response was a complete disregard not just to the information but even the fucking opinion. And the response was framed in the harshest light possible to breed mindless conflict. So instead of intelligent discussion or debate, we have useless “rabble rabble.” That is a fucking travesty. A goddamned fucking travesty. Instead of something good, it is something bad, and it is completely directly because you fuckers are bad people. If you replied to the original post with ignorant hostility, you are a bad person.
(Here’s what Deviljin01 should’ve put in the original post to have avoided the morons missing his point for the usual “derr me no like read good” reason).
tl;dr: Fucking fuck right the fuck off, you fucking fucked up fucks.
I miss the old SRK where flame posts like this wouldn’t get me infracted.
Now… back to the topic.
It harkens back to MvC2, but before everyone was going apeshit over Maggy making people pringles. The game evolved around bullshit early on. Simple bullshit was found, and counters kept being found. And finding new bullshit was just as much part of the fun as finding cool DHCs or excessively long combos. Finding some team that no one had a counter to just yet. MvC2 eventually evolved to the carpal tunnel fest that it is today, but early on? A simple jump-back Cable/Doom shut down everyone who didn’t know how to play and/or picked bad teams. It was cheap. And it won.
But calling something simply cheap doesn’t even talk about the mindgames that Viscant plays with Wesker. First time he showed Wesker off at WNF a while back, it was “best Wesker in the world” scary and that was a while back. I love watching good Mags and amazing Ammy combos, but the way Viscant plays Wesker is poetry in motion. There’s very little technical “wow” in the combos, but the amazing amount of setups and scenarios he has thought of, plus the team synergy he wraps around him is really noteworthy. And it’s not even using any DHC trick insta-kill stuff either. It’s the mark of a really smart player. People have given him crap about Phoenix, but honestly, most of the time when I watch Viscant, it’s his Wesker that’s destroying everyone’s team way before he even has to rely on Phoenix. Because his Wesker has so many setups, never relied on DHC tricks, and most of the combos ended up pushing the opp into the corner anyway (so that Wesker’s airthrow nerf isn’t gonna matter), I doubt he even skips a beat in UMvC3.
Ok, I think you are putting too much emphasis on Noah’s age rather than his level of play, which are too different issues. Yes, Noah is an amazing player for an 8-year old. Noah, as an overall MvC3 player? Eh. Stratos is right. He *did *beat bad players that don’t block. His mixup with Hulk was basically s.H (delay) S. It was like watching MvC2 glitched Juggy and Colossus all over again, not just in terms of people not knowing how to deal with it (hint: block), but in terms of people using that as a reason that the game is easy (seriously, someone was complaining about MvC3 because Hulk was winning. Hulk. Hulk. In MvC3, the same game with Phoenix and Wolverine. HULK).
As I said in another thread, all Noah exposed was that there are a lot of* fundamentally* bad players, unbeknownst to said bad players. HAV made an awesome post back in the vanilla SFIV days, and unfortunately I don’t think a lot of new players read it (big fucking surprise seeing the responses here). His post was simple: block. Just block. Don’t mash buttons looking for something amazing to happen when you’re getting pressured. Be patient. Be observant. Block correctly. Punish or escape accordingly. Way too many people hitting buttons while Hulk’s hilariously limited pressure was still going on.
