Mmmm, dirty cheap old men. Yum.
Someone needs to make a graphic of Gordon Gekko saying “Cheap is Good.”

can we call Chris G babykiller yet
Loved the post
Maybe all the wolvie mains shoulda x-factored killed wesker and snapped in hagger? I saw PR rog trying this strategy last game, but he dropped his xfactor 1 combo with wolvie. If he had killed wesker viscant woulda been stuck with hagger with no assist. At that point he coulda set up EASY snap back mix-ups against phoenix. Killing wesker with x-factor should only bring him up to 2-3 bars in meter granted he doesnt get touched. Again phoenix wasnt the problem it was wesker and hagger.
Hasn’t been said yet, or to my knowledge. but Viscant didnt just run with wesk/hagger/phoenix. He had at least 3 variations of that team. Against some matchups he’d take out hagger for Ironman. And I forget the other variation. but Viscant was optimizing his team when he felt a certain assist wouldnt be good againt a particular opponent.
No…damage was raised or health is lowered in umvc3, lol.
He used Tron too. I remember hearing him say if he had the execution he would use Wesker/Magneto/Phoenix too, I might try that team for Summer Jam.
wait really? I don’t pay attention to the game, but they’re actually upping damage (or lowering health)? lolol if so
Haha, really seemed that way when I played it at Comic con. Like, combos themselves do less damage cuz theyrs more scaling but the actual first hits do a shit ton. Wesker/firebrand/deadpool/ even Ryu died from like a couple random lasers then lmhs lmhs super from Ryu and shit
I wouldn’t put too much faith in the damage actually being higher. A lot of game “preview” builds generally ramp up the damage you take, they want as many people going on and off the machine as they can get. The DMC3 demo had you taking the same amount of damage as the hardest difficulty(DMD) while dealing with normal difficulty enemies. Whether health/damage is the same remains to be seen.
isn’t that the point of marvel lol isn’t that the point in any fighting game, forcing your opponent too guess that’s not cheap ahah
@Pertho: I was most stunned by how many people just ran into Akuma’s air super.
Ask Josh how many Evo titles he won. Ask the best Iron Guy players in the world how many Evo titles they won. Hell, check in with them about victories in majors. All the love to Josh and some to Gene (I’d put Illan up there over Gene), but … MvC2 was really about landing 2 good-to-great hits per character. But that’s a MvC2 discussion, and MvC2 is dead tournament-wise.
MvC3 tends more towards 1-2 bad-to-good hits per character. Them nerfing people’s health isn’t going to help that much at all. XD
It’ll be weird to see tourneys post-UMvC3…
I hope you’re right, because it felt really high as to be rediculous.
I actually like this thread. It’s also the very reason why I was rooting for Combofiend to take #1-4 spot, but knowing deep down he can’t get to the top because he didn’t want to go the cheap route. Same for clockw0rk knowing he did a mix of both old man cheapness and staying true to his guns of maining Doom instead of another character that could put in less work for more reward. If you want to win a fighter, you do one of two things:
- You go the cheapest route possible while maintaining a solid team.
- You completely learn the metagame of the character(s) you pick, your strongest match ups (and their faults) and go all of the way with it.
Viscant did 1) to win MvC3. Poongko did 2) to complete dominate Daigo in SSF4. Doing 1) is an easier path to victory, but is still met with the trials of somewhat knowing your matchups and faults. Doing 2) will make your team solid, but you might falter in not knowing the match up or the randomness factor (both happened to Poongko when he lost to Latif). It’s really that simple.
Also when talking about Noah, I will say that he played to the caliber of how an 8 year is supposed to play if he or she loves the game(s) he or she is playing. It’s easy to say he was “mashing” but I doubt he was doing any of that. He does know the fundamentals of the game well enough to compete, but he doesn’t know most of the advanced aspects (despite that he held up to Chris G some before getting destroyed, which is fascinating still). Lucky for him, the opponents he faced had long forgone the basic aspect of blocking, and trying to merc Noah because they thought he was a simple kid.
Noah is by no means a genius but more so a kid who is living a decent enough life to have had healthy brain functions while being allowed to play the game he likes. If you watched Mike Ross’ movie over at G4, his dad and brother also mention that Mike was extremely good at gaming at a similar age, destroying people at tournaments his local Blockbuster Video. While not playing fighters, I myself was good at video games since the age of 3. I’m sure a good deal of you guys that played video games at a young age were good in different ways as well. It’s normal. If Noah is given proper training by a good trainer in fighters, he’ll be a force to be reckoned with next time, simply because his brain won’t be filled with the rigors of life unlike how we adults are.

Those of you guys complaining about Noah really need to take a look at this video. It’s not like Noah-like tactics wouldn’t work in SF4.
Great read. Love losing to BS; It’s inspiring~
Guys go and watch the match against the Modok/Thor/Joe player I love but can never remember the name of against Noah. It’s blatantly clear that the player threw the match so that Noah could advance. MODOK not only beats Hulk but can beat his H move with instant j.A
Judge the game on how enjoying it is, not by what others think or say. Seriously…
