Video Game General 7.0: Day Juan Ys: MoC June 9th & Wonderful 101 June 30th!

What? Updates never fell out of style.

Huh? Do you not remember how many updates to SFII there were? They weren’t sequels. They were updates.

Guilty Gear X2 rivaled SF2 with it’s amount of updates.

Speaking of updates. Why do you guys think classic games can be played for years and years and everyone is happy, but new games people always expect new content/updates every year or so because it’s getting “stale”.

Is it a viewership thing? A lot classics aren’t streamed everyday so it doesn’t get stale as fast?

Yeah I was going to throw the example of snk in between. Capcom has the alpha series and versus series those are sequels not updates. ARC yeah they’ve been doing it since forever.

SNK is just as guilty of it too. Samurai Shodown V Special, KoF 98 Ultimate Match, KoF 02 Unlimited Match, KoF Neowave, Maximum Impact 2 had two updates.

Of course I was talking in the 90’s

This is not even an argument since those updates came years after the originals were released on most of those games you mentioned.

KOF neowave isn’t made by snk by the way it was only a cash grab

The Alpha series is the only part of SF where I feel you say each one is a sequel. The rest of the series not so fuckin much.

Neowave was developed by SNK. It was their testing ground when they jumped ship to Atomiswave. I remember at the time fans thought they would produce a KoF that would look like Guilty Gear.

I still have my doubts, the game was to generic it didn’t offer anything new that I can remember the max mode was altered a little and that was it. They also had the artist of power instinct to do the art for them.

KOF XI was a different story and although I don’t like it that much feels more like fleshed out snk game than kof neowave

Care to elaborate more I’ve played all vs games without getting to much into mechanics and technical stuff they feel like sequels and not mere updates to me.

I was talking about Street Fighter specifically. The VS games are a bit of a different beast all together and not part of the SF series.

If you’re going to wait over a year to get the console, a tactic that everyone here seems to want to do themselves and understandably so, then why would you care about games being revealed now?

And look, it doesn’t matter how much “hype” a console has for its games, if the price is outrageous no one will buy it. Every Console Developer has learned this lesson the hard way.

Right now it’s just a gigantic game of chicken. I doubt either team has a price they’re steadfast on. They’re waiting for the other to jump first so they can undercut them.

Decided to go full sonicabid and bought bunch of ps3 games (17 to be exact) at game stop lol. All for just 40 bucks, they even gave me fifa 13 brand new for only 2:50 damn,. As much as I hate gamestop I’ll admit you can get some good deals on games if you don’t care much about the quality of the games as long as they play its fine.

Neowave wasn’t suppose to offer anything new. SNK was making the jump to new hardware after using Neo Geo for over a decade. They had to get their feet wet with the hardware before developing KoF XI on it.

They haven’t finished remaking 7 but already talking about 5 lol

Can’t wait for that to be revealed in 2050

Thankfully that’ll leave only 6, 8 and 9 left to be remade in some considerabe way. The rest either have gotten a remake of sorts or just need(ed) an HD remaster

Lets see

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior - (1991)
Street Fighter II’: Champion Edition - (1992)
Street Fighter II’ Turbo: Hyper Fighting - (1992)
Super Street Fighter II - The New Challengers - (1993)
Super Street Fighter II Turbo - (1994)
Hyper Street Fighter II - The Anniversary Edition - (2003)
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix - (2008)
Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers - (2017)

Guilty Gear XX - (2002)
Guilty Gear XX #Reload - (2003)
Guilty Gear XX Slash - (2005)
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core - (2006)
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R - (2012)

I mean, maybe? (SFII is almost double the number of GGXX)
But with the time frame between each revision of GGXX then is not really similar, also if you count the multiple console/pc versions that can be considered their own revisions, then not really by a long shot.
