Video Game General 7.0: Day Juan Ys: MoC June 9th & Wonderful 101 June 30th!

Nigga, there has been yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars between each Under Night In Birth.
Complaining about those games getting revisions while your games are still on wrap up plastic is only on you.

Also, I think that is quite dumb to complain about FGs getting revisions and them getting them as season passes.
Specially when you no longer have to buy a new game, the cost is reduced for the buyer, the balance update is free, you have the oprion to buy the char/s you like separatedly.

There is no point on rehaul a fg when they can refine the formula and deliver new content via DLC.
And even then, some games change a lot of mechanics between revisions that can be considered their own games.

I understand if is because you are not really playing fgs anymore or strictly for economic reasons.
But if is because hurr durr is not a new game, then that is quite a dumb posture to have imo.

Im not really waiting for any reason. Im not waiting at really. There really is no reason for me to get a ps4 or ps5. I play games on muh PC so I really have no need of a console system. I do want a switch but Im waiting for that to be hacked fully before I buy one. Lite model is what I want.

And as far as hype and shit. PS2 is a good example of building hype before dropping the system price. People still bought that ridiculously price thing.

Edit - Just thinking about itā€¦they always show games before the reveal the price of a system. And why would they not? The games are the reason to buy the things.

You left the one for the Dreamcast,
Street Fighter II Turbo for matching service

Are devā€™s not allowed to work on multiple titles or something? Iā€™d much rather see a FFV remake than FFVII

What heā€™s saying they should wait how well the current remake does before doing another one.

Employees arenā€™t infinite, and being stretched thin are partly reasons why FFXV turned out the way it did or why KH3 had shit writing/story. Iā€™d much rather Square Enix fully finishes the FF7 stuff before starting another title in the series, be it a sequel, another remake, or whatever else

the ideas for silly characters constantly hit me out of the blueā€¦ I suddenly am compelled to make a mii character named Doo-Doo McGoo though thatā€™s surely too many lettersā€¦and maybe PeePee Herman

People are going to get a lot more game time with all the shutdowns, Iā€™m sureā€¦ I went back to Tactics builds again for a while in Dead Cells.
In 4-cell difficulty, eventually you start to love that ā€œalienationā€ passive for sure. I just got stopped cold in Sanctuary thoughā€”2 rooms with cursed chestsā€¦I only took one because itā€™s already crazy with that passive making it 15 enemies to kill instead of 10ā€¦and of courseā€¦ the 2nd enemy I saw after taking that curse was an elite version of those teleporting creatures that shoot the energy ball. Game, set, match right thereā€¦it was only a matter of time before I jumped the ā€œwrongā€ way (nervous; having a curse in this game cranks up the stress factor to maximum) to dodge the energy ball and there ya go. This is why itā€™s always smart to scout ahead in the area to see if thereā€™s enough regular, easy enemies BEFORE taking the damn curse.

In this thread: Saying you want to do something means itā€™s being done right now.

:joy:

i was checking the release dates from Kof 2k3 to Kof XI thereā€™s no a year gap between them so iā€™m going to say youā€™re not wrong. Same thing happened in 2002 when people was saying KOF 2k2 was developed by a korean company eolith but if you go and look at the wiki youā€™re going to see designers, programmers, artist and composers (yeah all the people that makes the game) are all japanese.

I am always down for Keith David letting loose with the put downs.

Wrong.
FFXV problems came from the troubled development of their luminous engine, the same for kh3 delays

Kh3 story is on par with the series.

Also, during game development there will be times were certain devs would be doing nothing, like the art departmment for example.

You usually have diferent groups working on diferent projects at diferent times because of that.

Is not a single continuous thing, where everyone is working on a single game at the same time.

Add that the preproduction of a game could last a year or more.

Yea a lot of XVs trouble was a combination of Luminous Engine issues and Nomura making absolutly 0 progress over the course of 8 years, which barely any of KHIIIs development was concurrent with.

IIRC, Nomura was in charge of multiple projects at different levels, he was even part of the Luminous engine team, since it was being developed concurrently with KOFXIII Versus, which was his baby.
That surely didnt help KH3.
BTW, i need to check, but i think that he didnt really wrote KH3, he wrote the general scenarion, but the full story was written by multiple people, iirc.

He is currently in charge of FFVII Remake, and 2 other unnamed projects.

No he didnā€™t write KHIII. And yea I know he had his hands full but in the end he got very little down with VX in the 8 years he ran it. Just the unfortunate truth.

Yeah, suposedly he wants to revisit the concept of what he wanted to do with XIII Versus.
And if we take Veritas Rex at face value there is a good chance that it could happen as a new franchise, which will be great imo, i am still salty that we never got Stella.

If their work on FFVII Remake helps to stream down the process of making new RPGs i can see Square killing it with new FFs and series next gen.

lol KOF XIII Versus

donā€™t really know why Square is taking so long to release games, XV took 8 years just to be crap and we finally getting VIIR but only the first episode. what the fuck is going? Nomura might be Squareenix downfall (speakes in POā€™s voice)

Square was busy working on their own engine.
Most of their problems come from that.
It was until they migrated their efforts into making the games on UE that the ball started rolling.

They are still working on the Luminous engine btw, but now they dont have games being worked on it concurrently, which is what they should have done from the beginning.

Nomura wasnt the problem.
It was the same thing that fucked a lot of studios and game companies during the last gen, that they were trying to work on games and engines at the same time during a time of drastic changes on how games were developed due the new hardware.

XV sucked story wise mostly because it was a rushed project made to salvage what they could of the XIII Versus project.

And with VII Re is basically the same, moving the bulk of the work from Luminous to UE.
Add that it grew beyond being just a Remake and became a much bigger project.

Also, outside art assets (3d models, wold map, sound and voice), once they finished the 1st part, most of the bulk of the work is done.
From this point onwards is much much easier and will take less time, since all the mechanics and ground work is already done.

Square Enix like a lot of console game developers from Japan had issues with adapting to the demands of the new technology required for HD development. They went at it trying to create their own thing in terms of the Luminous engine which combined with Nomura probably having too much on his plate lead to the issues we had.

i see i remember square later release some RPGs based on UE like the last remnant and lost odyssey? I kind of like the more dark graphics of the last remnant I wonder if itā€™s any good

I honestly canā€™t imagine still complaining about updates versus sequels in fighting games. Itā€™s like some people want a brand new titled game with like 3 new characters, just to pay $60 for it. Again.

DBFZ just got overhauled into a new game basically, for free. The fact that some people would rather pay for another full price game entirely is baffling to me.
