Still…it’s 2K.

2K will have the fun football games. Still 2K

Their recent WWE games and NBA games have me thinking otherwise…

Does this set a precedent, or have any other games licensed by Sony been ported to PC?

Death Stranding is coming to PC too.

Oh, word. So unless you’re Nintendo, it seems like exclusivity is becoming less and less emphasized in the market. That’s probably a good thing for us gamers.

Licenses are not Monopolies, I forgot the exact details now but Someone (some former Football game publisher) tried to take EA and the NFL to court for having a Football game monopoly, and the Judge ruled the case as frivolous and no valid claim as the NFL license off their IP and not the concept of Football.

The plaintiff also failed to realize there total of 3 not 1 licenses that have to be had for a NFL game to be published, two from the NFL (stadiums and NFL logos are one license, the Teams and logos other the other) and one from the NFL players association (licenses off the Players names and likeness), and the Players Association is a separate legal entity from the NLF league and is more of a Union.
The big thing was the Players Association never cared about merch or video games and were stingy with their rights. Hence why for the longest time EA was the sole maker of NFL games.

Summary

EA’s Madden also has an additional license from John Madden to use his name.

Sony Interactive I think is a separate subsidiary from Sony Computer Entertainment
And I think Sony Interactive made PC games before they made PlayStation games.

The two only cooperate when the Parent company made them to do so.

I am not sure, but I think there a recent corporate restructuring where the Parent Company don’t need to babysit their subsidiaries as much.
