breath of the wild is cool in that if you think you can do something or get somewhere you prob can but it’s not a perfect game the dungeon’s and all of the games boss battles are kinda wack. and since those are what i generally like about zelda games i came off slightly underwhelmed but i still liked the game tho.
you ever play them games doe. like in rdr you see all kinda shit going on. riding along and suddenly some broad comes screaming for help. you go with her to help only to be set up by that broad and her bandit buddies. You kill all her buddies then hogtie her ass and leave her on some train tracks. you sit back on your horse and watch as the train comes and right as its about to hit her…a fuckin’ cougar jumps outta nowhere and slays your horse. you try to run off but damn, the train is still going and you run into it and get fucked up. you think all is ok, you didnt die. then suddenly that cougar pounces and you dead. fucked up
thats just one kinda whack thing that happens in those types of open world games.
botw…not so much
Were the boss battles in previous Zelda games better than Wind Waker and Twilight Princess? Curious because they were cool, and the ones I played in OoT were cool too, but not like BotW. Those were…So Good.
Played the first RDR and killed some dude for beating me in poker and the tailed it off. Hog tieing was fun, but the controls and the way the character handles is just ‘bleh’. It fun to do you’re first time, but when the core gameplay just sucks it’s not fun to go back to. GTA3 and Vice City had their moments too.
As a one time deal, it’s fun to see and experience.
RDR was a game I never thought I’d like and ended up loving it initially.
actually i thought the boss battles in skyward sword, twilight princess, and wind waker were better from a variety standpoint than breath of the wild elemental blight fights.
also i like skyward sword way more than most people. getting to the dungeon is a puzzle and then you have the dungeon stuff and boss fight waiting after that.
Twilight and Skyward has some amazing boss fights. I thought all the elemental blight bosses were generic as shit
Yes. All this and so much more.
BotW is too lonely. Big open areas with nobody but a few goblins here and there. It’s what I hated about OoT’s Hyrule Field x100.
Weapon durability combined with the starting inventory slots only worsened the experience for me.
They were awesome, but the build up enter the Beast, the puzzles inside and the actual boss fight with environmental assists for both the boss and the player was just on another level.
The Van Noboris fight was is one particular hightlight. The bosses in WW and TP were pedestrian to fight. The spectacle to get to them was fun, but BotW boss fights were the entire package.
This is the first take I’ve heard praising BotW’s bosses. I love BotW to death but I’m not defending the bosses.
Nintentards gunna Nintentard
Really dude? You are better than this.
Really? I saw the praise for previous Zelda fights and getting to them was fun, but the fights themselves never had my scratching my head and gave me an “OH SHIT” feeling. They were impressive from a theatrics stand point and fun, but they didn’t feel anywhere near dynamic as the BotW bosses.
I would’ve held that position had I played these games back in the day and actually would’ve been harsher on them upon release.
Bosses in WW and TP are pretty static, and I’m not expecting that to change with OoT and SS.
Nah I’m with Stu. Botw was wack. Dungeons wack, bosses wack, weapon durability wack, etc.
i did really like the first blight boss fight but i think i after i saw they were all similar design wise it kinda took away some of the cool factor away for me. i was doing cool shit like deflecting lasers back at them but in my head it was just a fire version of the water guy.
You know who doesnt hate BotW?
This guy.
Summary
I dont own any nintendo console that plays smash games.
Miss me with all that.
your not wrong about the old bosses. none of them are particularly difficult to figure out and how hard skyward sword is depends on if your one of those people that have to fight the wiimote controls. i do think agree the breath of the wild bosses gave me more trouble. they were just kinda lame like an villain from a filler arc of anime they do a cool thing just kinda boring to look at tho.
I liked the designs and they felt cohesive giving it a sense of the Champions working together to defeat Ganon. Like the entire kingdom knew they had to band together because Ganon was THE threat. That was my takeaway anyway.
The elemental abilities mixed with Link’s toolset let’s approach the bosses, even when you don’t have everything , compared to previous Zelda’s. Being able to go back and defeat them in different ways on multiple playthroughs is my favorite part about them.
This is the biggest one where I break from the complaints, but I can see it, if you aren’t feeling the base style, you aren’t going to feel it the the other times.
i actually do really like that part of breath of the wild! the first time i saw how some of the streamers were beating bosses i was amazed that you had so many different ways of beating a boss in the old games you just kill them faster on multiple playthroughs except wind waker when someone found you could insta kill a boss with holy water like a long time after it came out.
