Certain design aspects of the open world invoke BotW. Its nowhere near as open but in terms of the vistas and how they use the environment to draw your attention to areas without flat out telling you to go there.
Now that was just unnecessary.
Yāall are some grumpy pants.
Because ever since BotWās release everyone thinks every atmospheric open world game is BotW-like.
People seem to think Nintendo broke new ground or created some new concept or game genre when BotW is pretty bare minimum of what open world games are/can be.
Ghosts of Tsushima is DAY JUANāED!!!
Itās hope it comes to PC for me.
That Ghost of Sushi game looks real pretty and cool but uhā¦looks mad easy.
I dont have a ps4 anyhow and I dont plan on getting one any time soon so I wont be able to play it.
This and the animals leading you to secrets after petting it, or flying near you, leading to secrets, ingredients for the dye on your clothes as well as upgrades. Bird is more in your face in GoT whereas BotW they donāt make it as pronounced as well as flying in a formation high in the air.
Those stuck out to me the most.
Just finished Uncharted 2. Iāll get to 3 at some point but not in a rush. How Naughty Dog creates the environment to build up Nate to do cool stuff was a lot of fun. The giant dagger puzzle, the train and village and ice caves before Shimbala were awesome. The melee is all kinds of gross, though. I know itās not the focus but the fights that needed it and the late enemies, are just all kinds of OOF, lol.
Ghosts of Tsushima and Yakuza: Like A Dragon are the rest of the games Iām getting for the PS4 and Iām done buying games for itā¦unless we get the samurai Yakuza games, then Iāll get those too. Itās been a fun three years with the system.
I donāt think he even remotely implied that was his reasoning.
I donāt think BOTW revolutionized the landscape for entertainment or anything, but youāre definitely selling the game a bit short.
Disagree. BotW, Smash and Fire Emblem Warriors are the only games Iāve regretted buying for my Switch.
BotW bored me to absolute tears. The only thing I really enjoyed about it was Link and Zeldaās redesign and the champions.
BotW the forever GOAT Open World and Zelda game, Stuart Hayden forever crying about it.
BotW 2 needed to drop yesterday.
FIENDING HARD FOR BOTW 2!!!
But BotW, GTAV, RDR2, and AC4: Black Flag are the GOATs of Open World games!!
The developers were sued by Iron Maiden, thus, they had to change the title of the game (Ion Maiden)
Stu doesnāt like BotW. It isnāt like a direct thing but there are things that BotW did for itās open world design that I recognize in this game like I stated earlier. The design docs for BotW stated that they designed the open world environment in a manner as like an invisible hand that leads players and draws their attention to things without telling them and I feel this game took a page out of that playbook. They even did a shot over looking the cliff during that gameplay footage looking out over everything just like BotWās opening moments. It almost felt just like a shout out.
They donāt have resets, jump cancels or instant bomb drop -> bomb parry, and lightening + metal weapon shenanigans, though.
Iād say XCX is in second for the GDLK mechās. Itās just getting there is another story, lol.
This has been a huge one Iāve seen in games. There was a One Piece game that did it even. I remember thinking āBotW is everywhereā
Not a bad game to pull from and throw in Samurai with not fantastical elements and Iām there. My hype is through the roof right now, which is always cool went itās not expected.
Iām going to do a second run of GoT using the black and white film option. Just fuck me up Sucker Punch.
Iām not though? Iām simply stating that I donāt like it and stating that a lot of people have been comparing other atmospheric open world games to Botw since itās release. Both is true. Facebook, Reddit and Twitter are all saying GoT is BotW with a Japanese motif. Even gaming news sites are saying itās BotW-like.
It isnāt and if you go in expecting that youāre likely going to be disappointed for one reason or another. Just like whenever anyone compares x to y in any medium
Iāve mentioned the laundry list of things I dislike about BotW several times and Iām not going to repeat them cause there isnāt a point and I simply have better things to do.
If you like it thatās fine. More power to you. But Thereās a reason why itās called Breath of the Mild by so many people. Itās a very minimal open world experience.
Breath of the wild mad boring when you out in the openā¦
them other open world games got mad shit going on when you just wandering around.
ā¦
Driving vehicles are a cool story though, lol.
Speaking of Open World. Is a game considered Open World if it doesnāt have real-time night and day cycles? I remember seeing that as point of contention when it came to Yakuza and Spider-Man.
