The dialouge is just fine, especially the witty banter between your characters. Ppl expecting some Shakespearian masterpiece.
For what it’s trying to accomplish, FF7R nails it in the dialouge department. Everybody talks like how I would expect them to talk since the original
I get people’s issues with the dialog. It doesn’t bother me personally as much, but it is strange to have such quality voice acting in the same game that has that ridiculously cheesy acting going on in the train scene.
Like, I get it. The villains in the old game were already over the top ridiculous. But come on. This dude that sends the Airbuster after you is literally putting on a mustache twirling, maniacal laugh in 3 cutscenes solely dedicated to showing you just how mega evil this dude is. Cutscenes they dish out in the span of half an hour. It’s such a shorthand, surface level attempt at making a character seem evil.
Meanwhile, you have actual moments of endearing dialog like anything with Barrett and his daughter. Or Cloud actually speaking up to crack a joke. Or the various ways Aerith playfully antagonizes Cloud.
There is good dialog, a lot of it actually. But it can feel very disjointed and inconsistent in terms of the quality, in my honest opinion. I get why people aren’t totally in love with it.
My issue with Barrett’s English VA is he’s either overly aggressive or he’s the biggest and whiniest drama queen ever.
Sephiroth was probably the only voice I didn’t care much for.

I thought it was his worst video since…maybe ever? It had some laughs but a lot of it just taking things out of context to force a joke (which means if you know what he’s doing then it isn’t very funny) or just flat out wrong. It was more frustrating to watch then funny imo. Oh well better luck next time lol.
He is usually very consistent on what he likes and dislikes.
He openly admits that he doesn’t like jrpgs for example.
And tells you to not expect serious reviews about them from him.
So far, he only has liked 1 and that is persona 5 iirc.
His video on ff7 is mostly to poke fun at random shit like he does for other games he likes.
Plus considering that is a hot topic right now, it wouldn’t make sense for him to make a video.
Hard to compete with George Newborn (yet another Superman)
My only issues with the English voice work is Seph, dude doesn’t have the gravitas George Newborn has, and Zacks voice is fucking awful, get the Crisis Core actor back please, new guy is not it.
Otherwise the voice work is fantastic and everyone talks like a normal person for the most part. Can’t really think of anyone being inhuman like in that regard unless they are meant to. Heideggar IS a mustache twirling villain so if he gave you that impression then GOOD! He is supposed to. You know like Hojo is supposed to come off as a creepy freakish asshole with no scruples. That’s the point.
People who want to play a game that won’t lag on Stadia, harhar.
Yeah that person’s voice was fucking awful. I’d wonder if it were voice direction but the rest of the voice acting was good. The voice, the line delivery, it was just bad. Really bad.

Personally prefer the AC cast for the characters mostly but its only marginally in most areas. I think the new Cloud is near on par with AC’s VA in terms of tone and how that character is supposed to be. Think he nailed the performance. Aerith did a really good job but I think that’s might be more so due to the script and her portrayal. Really like Red XIII’s Va in this game but again I think that may have more to do with the script since he’s had very little voice work in VA.
Seph’s Va I thought was fine though I think AC Seph has a bit more gravitas in his voice that. Like in AC when Cloud clashes sword with Seph for the first time and he says that line ‘…Good to see you…Cloud…’ there’s sooo much read between the line threat behind that line that I don’t feel as much with this Va.

I mean…he was better. Ass loads of distortion on his voice but I can still remember the lines. Seph in 7R almost sounds bored.
Seph seems pretty world weary in this one, personally I think he’s supposed to sound bored because [spoiler]he’s already been thru this shit before if theories are to be believed[/spoiler] lol
But I don’t mind Sephiroth’s voice in this, not impressed or upset with it. 
One thing Seph has always derived joy from is tormenting Cloud. Even when he’s bored with whatever he is doing, tormenting Cloud brightens his day.
I didn’t really get that impression here. You may be right, that may be what they are going for, but that will have to be given relevance in the sequel cuz currently he just looks and sounds bored to me.
