Did something happen to him? I never really got into him, I didn’t like the way he presented his ideas as more facts then ideas, but that’s me, I know a lot of people liked him.

Booted up The Evil Within on PC again. The game is eternally in the ~20 FPS range on console(PS3 AND PS4) but on PC it’s an unwavering 60. The cutscenes are all done in-game, so even the cutscenes are 60.
I still think TEW1 looks way better than TEW2. TEW2 had better character models and arguably better lighting, but that’s it. The texture work across the board in TEW1 smokes TEW2 and a huge majority of games this entire generation if I’m being honest.
The games are by far my favorite horror titles of the generation. I didn’t like TEW2 as much as the original, but it was still really enjoyable. Not even REmake 2 comes close to TEW1 for me, I’ve played through it multiple times on PS3 AND PS4 and it was a blast each time.
I know there’s some compression going on, but I hope this picture shows how beautiful the texture work in this game is. I feel like I can touch those walls fam. I find myself stopping and checking out the environmental detail while soaking in dat atmosphere constantly.
So good. I own the game on PS3 & PS4 with dat sexy slipcover, but it doesn’t come close to the beautiful safehead steelbook that some other regions got.
Considering FF7R prob won’t hit PC til next year, I’ll prob replay 7 again. It’s been 14 years since I first played it. I don’t really remember what happens after Midgar lol.

I played rpg’s at a pretty early age. the first friend I made in Washington (I was 8 when we moved to WA) let me borrow his NES and dragon quest (then warrior), original final fantasy and Metal Gear for a month while he borrowed my Sega and a few other games (I don’t remember which).
The first game I tried was Dragon Quest and it was literally the only thing I played that whole month. I was fucking hooked. I asked him if he had anymore games like that and he said “final fantasy is like that but you have more people and you pick what kind of character you want to be”
So I asked him if he wanted to extend the trade for another month and he said yes. So the following month all I played was the original FF.
DQ left more of an impression on me by a huge margin. It felt more alive to me, I think. I also liked how much more simplistic it was compared to FF1 (I wasn’t good at spell budgeting or making a balanced party)
Oh yeah. He was a total shit bag to Shera. But I think if they play it off correctly with minor tweaks I don’t think anyone will care except for twidiots who’ve never played the game

Neither of those would work and you know that. I mean tweak it by not making as abrasive and in your face but still getting the point across.
You can show they’re in an abusive relationship without saying a giant neon billboard saying/showing as such

Naw fuck that. He needs to cuss at her like a pissed off drunk asshole because that is what he is when you meet him. This is a man who thinks only of himself and how Shera ruined his dream and 180s completely by the end of the game. He needs to be abrasive asshole.
I know people will disagree with me on this but that’s who Cid is when you meet him. A shitty self centered asshole who through interaction with the team learns to see the bigger picture. Instead of just focusing on his dream he learns to see Shera saved his fucking life.
He’s a self centered douche who grows out of it.

EpicNameBro was the shit. I remember watching him play through The Depths and fighting Gaping Dragon for the first time. It was my first playthrough ever and I was stuck, so I wanted to see how people were beating him and his videos popped up.
Nothing happened to Vaati, he just doesn’t have much to work with nowadays so he doesn’t make very many videos. I think presenting the stories he would tell as factual was intentional though. It makes the presentation much more believable. I’ve seen him preface his theories with the fact that a lot of this stuff is open to interpretation too, so that’s kind of always how I’ve seen it. It’s just his perspective and interpretation.
Though, there’s been very few times that I’ve ever really disagreed with his findings too. I’d say the large majority of them are supported pretty well by stuff you can find in-game, since he’ll directly reference text, dialog and sequences from the games themselves.

i kinda learned after tales of the abyss that the jrpg fanbase in general has a low tolerance for blatant asshole characters being protagonists. luke is still one of my favorite characters in that franchise because of how much of an asshole he was at the start till midgame.

What’s especially odd about this decision is that Square Enix has confirmed that the original voice actors and actresses will continue to play the characters as they appear in other Final Fantasy games, Kingdom Hearts title, or whatever Square Enix project they find themselves in. But for the remake of the classic role-playing game, every character has been recasted.
The ONLY way I can see this making any lick of sense is if they did this for money purposes in the long run. The original VA’s would easily eat up more money in the long run so they figure they’ll get some lesser knowns who will probably only get more famous as the parts come out. I know I’m probably going to hate the moment when Vincent opens his mouth…Gonna be hard to be objective.

I agree. It was my problem with his content. I feel his delivery got in the way of people creating their own experiences and ideas of what the lore meant which was a big part of what made the lore and role play experience of Souls special. I just didn’t like his style, personally. It’s not wrong, it’s just not for me, I didn’t like it and the way people reacted to it in a “factual” way and would then stifle others creativity in that department was annoying. That’s not really Vaati’s fault tho. Not entirely.
Man he’s named after fucking Vaati, why no Zelda content at all? He could live on that for years.
