Oooooh shit, I thought Replicant was just some mobile spinoff
Hadnāt gotten the chance to read the article so thanks for the clarification Gasa. This is the version with the young Nier, not the old one right? Replicant is the young man and the old man is Gestalt or whatever right?
This series is pretty hard to keep straight lol.
As Rad said itās the version with the younger Nier that we never got in the west.
I thought about double-dipping, since I own it on Wii U, but I did that with Bayonetta 2 and Mario Kart 8, but thatās money saved or going to other games I donāt already own. This gen has been crazy enough.
In Yakuza 5 news
oh yeah Iām definitely checking into that 2nd vid in a minute⦠the Bankruptcy Saga is proving to be some really good stuff. Just when you think the DSP anime is running a bit stale, the writers come up with yet another thing to reel me back in.
hahaha āwhatās that beeping?ā ā Iām thinking that may have been people hooking into the callā¦and holy shit that sound-byte of āALL MY MONEY GOES TO BILLS.ā⦠I thought this guy on the youtube channel played it but that was actually ON the call, and they just ignored it! this is GOLD already. D-
Squad is on the scene, folks⦠"sorry thereās⦠60 people on the call right now⦠"
that moment when they noticedā¦oh this is killin me here
Weird. Replicant is the Japanese version, where you play as a kid. Nier for the West was reworked where you play as the worlds greatest Dad. They reworked it because they thought playing as the worlds greatest Dad would have a bigger impact than playing as a skinny androgynous JRPG character #9223832832832.
So in reality, this isnāt even the same Nier game as the PS3/360 version we got.
Itās almost 1:1 the combat in Automata with worse animations. The story and world were a 1000000000X more interesting in the original though, but Iām not sure with this version.
Ima have to play it. Automata felt like Bayonetta-lite on easy mode. Replicant kinda looksā¦not that great. Iām willing to try it tho
Scoop it for PS3/360 Where itās cheap.
Just to play devilās advocate for a second hereā¦
I feel like the Spyro and Crash collections are remasters. They didnāt Remake the games from the ground up. Itās the same exact skeleton of a game with updated graphics, models, and sometimes voice work. I realize typically a āremasterā only involves putting it in HD and maybe bumping the FPS up, but as long as youāre just making the game prettier and leaving the foundational game itself intact, Iām hard pressed to call it a Remake.
A true Remake would be, say, Resident Evil 2. Or Linkās Awakening. Yakuza Kiwami. Something along those lines.
Feel free to poke any holes in my logic though, this is actually an interesting distinction to discuss.
Japan had both versions. We only got Gestalt but they could just pick.
Also the story is almost exactly the same dude, the only difference is heās her brother instead of her dad, chill lol
First of all with at least Crash this has been proven to be completely unture. There are new skeletons and such used for the models and has made some of the levels, a particular bridge one speficially, way harder then they where in the original, so even if this type of game qualified as a remaster it would still fail the test as itās clearly a remake, it has new stuff in it.
Second. The definition of a remaster is when you go back to the master and make a new copy of that master. If you make a copy of a piece of paper in a copy machine and then make copies of the copies the second generation copies will be worse then the ones they where copied from. In order to maintain the quality of the copies you have to go back and make new copies from the original, the āMasterā version.
All of these games are recoded from scratch to behaive like the old ones but have tons and tons of new content from graphics the original is incapable of to new voice work that isnāt present on the original.
These are not remasters as they do not use the master copy, they are new software thus they are remakes. This isnāt a negative or anything, itās just the meaning of remaster. You have to use the original master version to make a remaster. Otherwise itās a recreation. A remake.
Wowā¦
Not to mention NSane Trilogy and Reignited Trilogy use completely new engines, and none of the source code from original 6 games could be used in any way, shape or form as those were lost a long time ago. Those PSOne Classics Sony put out for Vita, PSP and PS3 years ago? Literally just ROM dumps resold again for like 7$ each
Where do you stand on OoT3D?
It got some new models, an FPS bump, but it mostly plays the same, down to most glitches.
They did add some QoL changes and adapted some stuff to the touch screen.
Cases that really blur the line like this one are the most interesting in this discussion.
Looking at the gameplay of the original Nier Iām not seeing any Platinum level combat in it at all. It looks like something that functional at best.
The combat is definitely not that similar at all. It is far clunkier. I think they both have their problems in their own different ways but Nier 1 definitely feels a lot worse to play.
But the story is still godlike and it does have interesting ideas so still a good game.
SPIT SOME GAME THEN HOOK UP WITH SHAG
ON THE PLAYSTATION IāM KNOWN TO BRAG
SO ON THEM DAYS YOU FEELINā REAL BAD
THINK OF THE BEST FREAK YOU EVER HAD
Remaster=DMC collection, Yakuza collection, the Onimusha 1 re-release.
Remake=REmake 2 & 3, Final Fantasy 7Retards
What about when a game does both like Odin Sphere? Is that a remakester?
That would be both which is the best of both worlds. Halo Anniversary did kinda the same thing and it was also fantastic.
