I wonder if Sony did this to get ahead of the leaks. Specs of the CPU AMD was working on for the PS5 got leaked. Itā€™s awesome they are going with Zen 2 and Navi for graphics.

I donā€™t know what any of the technical stuff means cause thatā€™s just not my wheel house anymore.

The thing that caught my eye and will be a big selling for people is the fact it will be Backwards compatible. While I personally donā€™t think it ā€œneedsā€ to be a feature or a ā€œmust haveā€ feature. I donā€™t mind whenever a system does it. Itā€™s why systems like the GBA, DS and one of the reasons PS2 sold like gangbusters.

The game selectionsā€¦Iā€™m all set.

That game Collection kind of sucks. Cyber bots, giga wing, mega man power battles and AvP are the only games Iā€™d play.

Also its design is fucking gross.

Backwards compatibility will be good for the early life of the console. I donā€™t expect it the games for the new console to get going until the second or third year. Playing old games on it would be a nice use for it in the meantime.

I think the issue is that most other platforms these days have it so that upgrading to new hardware doesnā€™t remove access to your software (let alone your games). Moving forward, companies are more likely to treat consoles as part of an ecosystem/platform. So for example, in Sonyā€™s case, whatever you buy on PlayStation from a certain point onward, always works on any PlayStation platform.

Jesus that Capcom dual joystick is ugly as shit. WTF were they thinking?

And that price point ā€¦ LOL!

While not in the same league as Sega (no one is in this regard), they love the 2 steps forward, 3 steps back approach. Lol

Iā€™m tossing dollars at the arcade home. Iā€™m upset it has micro USB instead of type-c for charging.

Not surprised at the price considering the hardware involved. This is basically a dual arcade stick setup similar to an Sega Virtua Stick HSS-0130, with twice the hardware of a normal arcade stick. 2 JLFs, with GT-Y octo-gates, 12 OBSF-30 buttons, 4 OBSF-24 buttons, etc.

And theyā€™re probably not expecting this to sell in the same way as other retro consoles. This feels more like a limited run thing.

Yeah. Between the ā€œokā€ā€™game selections, itā€™s general ugly as fuck design and price point makes it an absolute no go for me.

I like how they straight up admit that theyā€™re just running FB Alpha.

Of course, this means that itā€™ll eventually get hacked and people will just load other games into it.

I think if anything, this will force Microsoftā€™s hand and theyā€™re announcing the newer XBox this year at E3 with it either coming out this holiday or early 2020.

Just cancelled all my video game preorders on amazon and preordered them through work since our discount works on preorders too.

I mean, Iā€™m only saving sales tax and some changeā€¦but thatā€™s still better than paying MSRP.

Only downside to ordering them from work is I have to wait a few days after release to get them delivered. I could do site-to-store pick up but it usually arrives the same day regardless and I donā€™t really feel like going into work on my off days if I absolutely donā€™t have to.

I wonder if the Capcom home arcade can be used as a standalone controller. It can improve the value of it.

According to a GSO Leak (@sonichuman and I know about these very well. Lol) GameStop is going to start a new program called ā€œGuaranteed to love itā€. You can return any new game you buy within 48 hours and receive the full price (before sales tax) back in store credit.

The program launches when Days Gone lunches.
