Video Game General 6.4: New Halo? What else?

My thoughts on Borderlands 3 are pretty much just “are Eridian weapons back?” and “These starting four hunters look so good that its going to be hard to pick a main.”

Makes me super excited for the later heroes since BL2’s DLC classes were the best.

Oh.

That’s cool.

But yeah, you can rerole specific attributes, in some ARPG loot games, but not in any of the aforementioned.

The numbers are random, even on the static stats, for the most part.

Borderlands 3 is going with something like what you are speaking of, with exchangeable, and interchangable parts, and such, which no doubt needs be farmed themselves.

I do not know if I LIKE the idea of having full control over stats, though.

Part of the magic is finding a BETTER version, in a way that you couldn’t craft for yourself.

There’s still that, since some of the stuff needed for upgrades are really hard to come by.

That said, it matters less when the gameplay’s so good you just hunt stuff because it’s fun. Helps that the game is more skill than stat based, and you can just play to get better, and maybe cut your hunt times down and even do time attacks.

Oh. I get it, and absolutely agree that it is great fun that way too.

It is almost a different genre, with the random element, though.

The better player is going to win in most instances, all stats being almost equal.

But an, oh, say 94% Sham is still going to trounce a 79% Sham, in the odds department.

I like the idea of constantly trying for a better version, barring an obscenely lucky, perfecty rolled in every aspect, item.

The more improbable and improbably godlike, the better.

Heck, I even like seeing other people merking with nigh unobtainable leet kit… it keeps the dream, and Skinner, alive.

And it allows for even more creative builds and such to come about.

Though sometimes it just takes specific gear, a clever build, and mad execution.

Chucking Axton is a top tier character in BL2 - the best boss killer, in certain situations.

He was considered trash in pretty much all ways for the first few years of the game’s life.

I’m on the Borderlands hype train. It will show garbage like Destiny, Anthem and the Division how it’s really done.

That’ll be pretty easy to do when you set the bar that low.

The first RoR is a masterpiece IMHO. Now it’s on Switch which is the absolute perfect platform for it. Also, the OST is low key some of the best video game music of the last decade. RoR 2 has got me hyped

Something just feels weird with Kingdom Hearts 3. Its not bad, its just kinda…there…ya know? Can’t put my finger on it, but something is missing

The battle system is incredibly floaty and super chaotic. Soooo much going on now.

Combat is defintely floaty. Its been years since I played 2, but I don’t remember it being like that. Its not as tight and focused as it once was

They did a drastic overhaul of the combat flow when dream drop distance came out. Made it much floatier, free firmed and, hardcore parkour-ish. They made it even worse (imo) in three with the multiple key blades being equipable and all of them having their own attack strings, action commands and other stuff.

Sometimes less is more. Doesn’t ruin the game, but it makes it mashy as fuck. There used to be SOME level of strategy/skill involved, not much now. The battles lack precision like the first 2 titles had

Chrotcha, It’s amazing to me that you can’t comprehend the options of others

It is, and not in a good way.

Final Fantasy is gone. Huge omission considering how important some of them were as supporting characters.

This was purely Nomura’s fault. In an interview he basically said he dropped the FF characters because there were “too manny characters with too many complex story lines. I couldn’t remember who met who, who they were aligned with and what their motives were”

So. Yeah.

So not even the person writing the thing knows whats going on?

Lmao. Nomura shouldve just kept that shit simple, but he HAD to do all those damn side games that I purposely skipped. Forgot his own story

Again, less is more😂

Should’ve consulted some fans.

Some of those side games don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. Birth by Sleep, Chain of Memories and Dream Drop Distance are the ones that matter. Fuck the rest.
