My thoughts on Borderlands 3 are pretty much just “are Eridian weapons back?” and “These starting four hunters look so good that its going to be hard to pick a main.”
Makes me super excited for the later heroes since BL2’s DLC classes were the best.
But yeah, you can rerole specific attributes, in some ARPG loot games, but not in any of the aforementioned.
The numbers are random, even on the static stats, for the most part.
Borderlands 3 is going with something like what you are speaking of, with exchangeable, and interchangable parts, and such, which no doubt needs be farmed themselves.
I do not know if I LIKE the idea of having full control over stats, though.
Part of the magic is finding a BETTER version, in a way that you couldn’t craft for yourself.
There’s still that, since some of the stuff needed for upgrades are really hard to come by.
That said, it matters less when the gameplay’s so good you just hunt stuff because it’s fun. Helps that the game is more skill than stat based, and you can just play to get better, and maybe cut your hunt times down and even do time attacks.
The first RoR is a masterpiece IMHO. Now it’s on Switch which is the absolute perfect platform for it. Also, the OST is low key some of the best video game music of the last decade. RoR 2 has got me hyped
They did a drastic overhaul of the combat flow when dream drop distance came out. Made it much floatier, free firmed and, hardcore parkour-ish. They made it even worse (imo) in three with the multiple key blades being equipable and all of them having their own attack strings, action commands and other stuff.
Sometimes less is more. Doesn’t ruin the game, but it makes it mashy as fuck. There used to be SOME level of strategy/skill involved, not much now. The battles lack precision like the first 2 titles had
This was purely Nomura’s fault. In an interview he basically said he dropped the FF characters because there were “too manny characters with too many complex story lines. I couldn’t remember who met who, who they were aligned with and what their motives were”
Some of those side games don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. Birth by Sleep, Chain of Memories and Dream Drop Distance are the ones that matter. Fuck the rest.
