This is my biggest issue with the game and why I haven’t played it. I installed it, got my gold coins, redeemed my piranha plant dlc code and that’s it. Haven’t actually played it. Having almost 70 unlockable characters is fucking stupid.

Silly that you have to unlock characters in a party game. I’d think it would be all unlocked from the start so all the non gamers who play party games could pick anyone.

Played it and forgot about it. Obviously the game isn’t directed toward us if we have to unlock so much. It’s for the kid who has all the time. Not for a anywho works full time and other obligations.
I hate to say it but I would pay a small amount to unlock everything. I just want to play the characters I want without the hassle of jumping through hoops

Having to Unlock everyone is what I love about Ultimate Smash.
If everyone available from the get go, I would play once, get bored and put it away
70+ people to unlock, even better.

So I’ve been cleaning out and organizing all the shit in my closet today. Been organizing all my console boxes, tech boxes (laptop, phone box shit like that), and rearranging all my statues, nendoroid and figma’s.
Found this in one of my boxes full of games. It was still in its plastic bag it was shipped in and the seal was still intact.
I feel so much when I look at this.
Anger, sadness and regret just to name a few. Especially since I kicked it for so much and literally didn’t even get to play the game and haven’t played the game.
I backed it for PS4 and they sent me a steam code for Windows which was useless since I don’t own a single windows device. I even filled out their multiple surveys and backer rewards questionnaires they sent me confirming I was backing it for a PS4 copy.
This shit put me in a bad mood. I was having a really good day too.
So much promise. So much potential. Wasted.
MNo9 made me incredibly skeptical when it came to Crowdfunded games. Its why I didn’t pledge to Bloodstained, Shenmue and several other titles I’ve wanted to. It’s also why I only pledging the minimum for Yooka-Laylee, which wasn’t a bad game but wasn’t a good game. Same goes for pledging the minimum for Adventures of Pip. Which actually and thankfully worked in my favor. It’s an amazing game and wish I had kicked it more.
Still. 1/3 is still a bad score.

Smash Ultimate might be in my future since “all the kids at school have it, CoD, and/or Fortnite”…….ugh…
I remember videos being posted about how to unlock the all the characters in xx:xx amount of time. Thankfully Mario maker drops next week, so that’ll take their minds of it.
A 4chan General thread on smash had it and I was very impressed at how they matched each fighter to a CN character and in clever ways.

Point and click/choose your own adventure games can only be so engaging. They all have little to no gameplay. It’s all about the narrative and how the story unfolds. They aren’t for everyone. Wolf Among Us (still sad we’ll never see the finale), Back to the Future and the Walking Dead TellTale games were all really good tho. But they definitely are a niche genre.

I’m not that interested in the series to unlock all those characters…I bought it my nephew and niece in mind. I’m sure he’ll get them unlocked in a few days.
Same with DBFZ.
I thought I would try to unlock SSGSS Goku and Vegeta…it’s been a year and I still haven’t bothered with its story/mission mode.
This weekend I said fuck it and spent the $3 to unlock them.

Dude it was soooo disappinting getting to my brothers, hooking the Switch up, getting all 4 of us ready to Smash and then the select screen has 8 characters. Fucking 8. That’s fucking stoooooooopid. All of us where so disappointed.

There’s an easier way to unlock everyone. After fighting an unlockable character quit out the game, start up again, set a match to 1 stock and kill yourself. The next character should show up to challenge you. That’s what I did because fuck how Nintendo wanted me to do it.
Well funny enough we are the real Smash Demo. We just wanna beat the shit out of each other 4+ free for all with items turned to max. We don’t give a shit about tournament scene or any of that nonsense. Just wanna Smash Brothers and cant even do that.
