cheh, I double-dipped on Dead Cells and bought the XB1 version; it also happens to be on sale… it’s an odd thing to start over fresh in this game…but it has of course reset the fun of unlocking stuff once again. Haha just on run #2 with all these sub-par weapons and barely any passives unlocked I had already made it to High Peak Castle but got sloppy and was killed by one of those whirlwind giant sword enemies.
Personally if you’re going to make a MK game with no returning characters, then you might as well make a whole new game. Franchises, especially fighting games are built on familiar trappings and characters so throwing out the whole cast while maintaining the name rarely works for that very reason.
Apparently there is going to be a new Death Stranding trailer coming this week
And a new Dragon Quest game is coming to mobile. Will be announced next week.
Edit. Pokémon is airing a Press Conference event. It will go over a multitude of things mainly the future of the franchise when it comes to games, mobile gaming, movies, anime and toys. It airs tomorrow in Japan but in US time it airs at 6PM PTD tonight.
Yeah, it’s clear from the ending they want to chart a new path with MK, but people are always going to want the mainstays like Scorpion. They’ll probably get slaughtered if they try to bring in a mostly new cast, unless the gameplay is THAT good.
And I just have to laugh at EA sweating that lootbox bill. It’s likely it won’t pass in the long run. If it does pass, EA will just find other ways to nickel and dime players. I think one of the NBAs had ridiculous Virtual Currency prices if you wanted to even change your custom character’s haircut. They’ll just shift to something like that, which will still bring in gobs of money. But here they are whining because they can’t use the scummy tactic that brings in ALL the money. I hope this bill passes and I hope it’s the first step towards banning all this nickel-and-dime shit gaming companies do nowadays. A pipe dream, but an honest hope.
Like it was mentioned a while ago when this was last brought up. Sometimes micro transactions are great. They are usually the only way small devs (usually mobile gaming companies) can make money so they can pay their employees, licensing fees and work on more games they want to make.
Like, clearly companies like EA, Blizzard, Epic and Disney took this concept and exploited it to unreal measures. So it does need to be regulated somewhat.
Nintendo actually has to take Animal Crossing Pocket Camp and Fire Emblem Heroes down from the German App Store/Google Play store due to them recently banning loot boxes.
I’m not saying micro transactions are a good thing. But I’m not saying they’re “evil” or whatever either. To the small Indy creators ecosystem they can be detrimental in success or failure. So there is a place for them. In a sense.
I absolutely understand why people have such disdain for them. But I also understand they are only as important as the individual player makes them to be.
sheeeeit, I’m immediately sold on this.^ It’s set in my era (with the appropriate style of graphics), and many of the classic arcade genres all in one package? That’s GOLD, right there.
I finally looked up a youtube vid on the belltower key in Dead Cells…all this time playing the game and I never figured out where that shit was. Basically you have to ring the bells in order from the lowest pitch bell to the highest. I actually had to make quick notes on a general sketch of the map for this shit, man… the Clocktower is an annoyingly huge map. (and since I’m assuming the locations of the bells are randomized; I didn’t feel like doing this particular thing again later; better to get it over with now) In that same run on the XB1 version I finished it for the first time so I’m in Hard difficulty/1 Boss Cell now.
Yeah, I wish this bill could somehow not touch those using lootboxes/micros responsibly. In fact, the point that it doesn’t (it’s kinda vague) might lead to its defeat. We’ll see.
But I just have to laugh at how almost everytime the precious lootboxes might get taken away or hurt, companies justify by saying taking them away will hurt the players somehow. Lootboxes are so scummy they (the publishers) often have to hide that they’re present in the game until after launch (or put them in after). They’ve been doing that since Black Ops 3 at least. How the hell does something you have to hide for fear of player backlash pre-release help the players at all?
