Video Game General 6.4: New Halo? What else?

Not the point either.

I am a Nintendo Fan Boy.

I freely admit this all the time.

I will not Stan for NSO paywalling SMM2.

I’m not either? It’s just being behind a paywall doesn’t bother me. :woman_shrugging:t3:

NSO is part of the Nintendo ecosystem now. Expect it to be used in a lot of different ways and featured in a lot of games.

Yeah. It was cool. I liked it. Played it with my sister a lot. She loved it. Didn’t play LBP 2 or 3 though.

There’s a hard limit to what people are willing to accept in that ecosystem. It will be a bad move on Nintendo part to paywall online functionality in general. NDO doesn’t not offer the same value as it’s rival services. Nintendo will just dig itself into a deeper hole.

No it isn’t. It can change at any time.
NSO is not so ingrained that it permanent

Also Fuck Pay Walls, if Sony can do it and Sony has paid online longer than Nintendo ever did, then Nindy can do the same or kiss my ass

NSO is also 1/3 cheaper than XBL and PS+. So why should it offer all the same things? It’s called Nintendo switch Online. Obviously they’re going to make games that need to have NSO to access certain features or have NSO to play in general. No different than XBL or PS+. Just because a handful of niche games don’t require PS+ or XBL doesn’t mean Nintendo has to follow suit. Especially for major IP’s.

I have NSO but I don’t use any of the online game play features because they don’t interest me. Mainly got it for the NES library and what future potential it has.

How can you say something so brave yet so controversial?

Except PSN still lets you freely upload and download BLP Levels for Free regardless if you paid or not.
And MS with XBA does similar things with their network. It isn’t about price, its about principal.

You are dumb then. And there far better alternatives.

And nothing, this is also dumb.

Please don’t make me laugh. Nintendo yet to understand how the Internet actually works.
Accounts are still machine bound, They never bothered with Cross Buy with titles that are both on the Wii/ Wii U and 3DS. Guess who have? There nothing that Nintendo can really do that is tied to Online with the Switch unless you add some cellular capabilities.

Because its TRUE.

He was being deadpan sarcastic on that last one, dude.

I am on your side of this argument, though, so… just sayin’.

I just got done playing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for the first time in a long time. I’m rusty as hell, but I missed this game so much in ways I can’t adequately express. I need to dust off the characters I used (especially Cammy) and actually learn to play Tron beyond just mashing assist, but this game is just the fucking best, even if I’m way too white to actually be any good at it.

On a unrelated note Micro Mages on Steam has the hidden NES Rom version of the game hidden in the install folder.

I mean, I agree with what they’re saying too. It’s just him being so “MY OPINION IS ABSOLUTE” and how abrasive he’s being is my issue. On the other side of the coin I’m also looking at from a business standpoint. They’re not going to introduce an online service and not utilize it. That’s just silly, you know?

I don’t disagree. The history of Nintendo and its lack of competence with internet and eshop is laughably stupid.

Also, I don’t find the NSO subscription a waste of money, really. I like the library we’re slowly getting and the SP versions are cool.

I mean, while Sonic looks worse they’re both really fucking bad.

Being cheaper doesn’t matter when the value proposition is garbage. The $35 a month didn’t improve the quality of online from when it was free. Nintendo is doing a bad job at being competitive. And no, XBL and PS+ are different. Xbox offers cloud saves for all users. No XBL necessary. PlayStation let’s you upload saves to cloud for free but you need PS+ to download from it. PS+ offers discounts on their store for having it, NSO does not. XBL offers cross buy purchases between Xbox and PC. The only thing of value NSO has on offer is the NES library. I don’t care for roms so that’s a hard pass.

This, 100%.

Also the sad thing is I rather pay for each game individually and own that game that to pay in a terrible online play subscription service that yet to figure out voice chat and holds NES games hostage.

No wonder Nindy went Water Boy on Emu sites, as people be flocking to that over spending a dime for a subscription service.

This showed up in my feed…found it entertaining

I guess I don’t have an eye for this type of stuff. I’m not a pokemon fan, but realistic Pikachu looks just fine if you’ve ever seen drawn Pikachu. Realistic Sonic looks like that first pancake I always fuck up whenever I’m making them. An utter abomination. If they had taken the Detective Pikachu route with Sonic, things would be gravy. But they had to get humanoid, for reasons I may never understand.

Well, one is more akin to a cat and the other is more akin to a boy in a fur suit. Maybe that’s why they went the humanoid route with sonic. I mean, the mofo has hands with opposable thumbs, he wears gloves and sneakers. He walks/runs upright. He talks.

I get why people don’t like NSO but this doesn’t change the fact that it is a business decision. Basically their two other competitors have paid online services, so Nintendo does the same. It is $20 for a year, but if you like online play for Nintendo games it is worth it. If you don’t, you can still play the Free 2 Play games like Fortnite and Warframe online without it.

All that being said, unfortunately Xbox Live and later PS+ showed people are willing to pay and thus we are where we are in console gaming.

Ironically, he looks more like a hedgehog now than ever.

P.S. Pikachu looks like stuffed toy merchandise (i.e. money).

I don’t think it is. Nintendo made the mistake of having Switch online be free when they launched it. Now they want me to pay $20 a year for it when they haven’t improved it or added any features to make worth paying for. It doesn’t even have basic features a service like native voice chat support, and party chat.
