Video Game General 6.4: New Halo? What else?

I only have 3 games for my Wii U - Bayonetta, W101, and Smash. I was perfectly content with the console purchase. It was also the first time I bought a refurb from Nintendo. The thing felt more like a repackage of a new unit than a refurb.

In 2019, I think it’s safe to say I’m the only non-Nintendo fanboy that will stan for the Wii U…still.

I think I’ll grab Dragon’s Dogma at some point but that’s only due to the Switch Form Factor. I’ve heard the praise for awhile but still wasn’t sold on it. Also thinking about grabbing the POS known as New 3DS XL. My Mario Kart DS is showing signs of dead pixels and I think I want to play Sega games in 3D. I could just have a hole burning my pocket, but I’m not too sure.

Literally no one has said it’s a bad system. It was just marketed terrible and the name of the system was confusing to the average consumer and it just sounds fucking stupid.

Also like I said, it’s library was solid but was still missing A LOT of staples. When your console sold barely over 13m units WORLD WIDE over 4 years? Yeah. It failed. Miserably. Nintendo did the right thing to Old Yeller it.

Nintendo has done a complete 180 with the Switch though and are crushing it.

There’s also little to no reason to own a Wii U anymore (I didn’t say NO reason so don’t get upset) when most of their flagship titles are now available on the Switch. Yes there are still good titles that haven’t been ported over yet and I doubt they will. But I can honestly live without thousands.

@Hawkingbird hated the system if I’m correct on it. It wasn’t a popular system for sure, and it did have faults. From 2013-2016 if someone had asked me if I recommended it, I would say “Yes, BUT…” It wasn’t an easy recommendation and their needed to be a conversation if I did say yes. There were people saying “It’s a bad system” but at the same time the early systems this gen had dumb shit about them as well. PS4 Dualshock and it’s abysmal battery life for one.

I’m still glad I went with it at the beginning of this gen however.

Nintendo makes great games that they attach hardware sales to.

It is as simple as that, really

I sure did. Outside of Smash 4, Bayo 2, DKC and Tokyo Mirage Sessions it felt like a waste of money. The only good that came from my Wii U is that it made my nephew a Nintendo fan. The moment that Bayo 3 and a port of 2 was coming to the switch I traded that fucker in. With the ports and better sequels on the Switch owning a Wii U is completely pointless.

I kinda felt this way towards the end when releases were so few and far inbetween. Like “why the fuck did I buy this when nothing is coming out for it? Even first parties are coming out at a snails pace”

I still don’t regret it overall but there were several times where I felt disappointed or even frustrated that I bought it.

Hyrule Warriors and Super Mario 3D world were the Crown Jewels of that system IMO. Both beyond exceeded my expectations.

Dragon Marked for Death gets updated

That awkward moment when StarLink is still releasing content when most retailers have stopped selling it and anything related to it.

I thought about getting StarLink solely for the Starfox content. I’m owed a good Starfox game after Zero shit the bed.

It’s not exactly a Star Fox game. Ubisoft GREATLY over exaggerates their presence in the game. There’s only a handful of actual star fox missions in the game equaling out to a few hours. If even that.

I bought it at work for under $25. I kept the arwing model and fox figure. Threw everything else in the trash.

Also @Sonichuman
Did you (or anyone for that matter) play Harmoknight for 3DS? Because that’s literally what Muse Dash is.

I assume they’re great. Last nintendo console I owned was an SNES. Last mario game I played was 64. The issue is really that nintendo can tack on an extra 300 dollar to the price of any of their software at will.

The fun side is side is that underpowered consoles keep production costs down on games. But really, Nintendo could put shit on a plate and people would buy it if it played Zelda. Thats why I dont really think. The big N is occupying the same space as Sony/MS.

That said, comparing hardware specs on consoles its silly. Dont even know why its a thing.

They’ve never wanted to or tried to. Nintendo has always done their own thing. They set their own standards and trends. Which are usually wildly successful. They’ve had a few slip ups but Nintendo is incredibly consistent overall.

They may be late to the game on some things like DLC or mobile but when they do finally embrace it they do it incredibly well and in a way where consumers don’t feel like they’re wasting time and more importantly their money.

Some silly form of validation of spending $X00 on hardware.

Leave my RTX 2080 TI 11GB Founders out of this.

I will say it JUST for the sake of saying it (nothing personal).

The Nintendo Wii U is a Bad System, despite of bad marketing and being poorly named.
The Wii U also shoe-horns in this tablet that isn’t transferable to another console, online purchases are locked to the console and not to a User account, and it offered nothing to the table to compete with the hardware of other consoles at all. The Wii U is just a Wii with HDMI and 480p resolution, and the Wii is a slightly upgraded Game Cube with questionable motion controls.

As a Nintendo fan I found the Wii U system completely skippable, exclusives that were ported to the Switch I don’t even count really being on the Wii U as the Wii U had a terrible adoption rate.
Also the real value of any console is the game, The Wii U have a few titles, few that could be stretched to be considered a system seller. And games that did came too little, too late.

Toki is in the process of dying and is only alive through sheer will power. He is determined to pass on the techniques of Hokuto no Shinken to his favored successor as Jagi is inept and Raoh is a tyrrant.

I personally don’t care for the intellectual property, but this is the best beat 'em up for the franchise I have played. The gameplay is more repetitive than Yakuza, but the world is far more fleshed out. Overall it is better than mediocre due to bartending sidestory, which could be a game of its own. However, the fighting game despite being broken is a lot more fun.

edit: Forgot Rei and Toki are different characters.

Posting something Vamp related and not tagging @Million-X ???

For shame, homie.

For any CODbros.

I’m guessing they’ll reveal it within a couple of weeks. Maybe next week even.
