I highly doubt we’ll see much on that front. In terms of action RPGs, it seems that they’re set to double down on Monster Hunter at this point, considering that it’s now found success in the West, alongside beating out Mega Man to become their third best selling franchise.
I mean, I love Dragons Dogma, but the game never really succeeded in what it seemed Capcom wanted it to do, which was create a AAA action RPG franchise for them for the West (possibly, at least based on stuff I’ve heard, using ideas that they wanted to experiment on for a MonHun game, but didn’t want to do so in the main series). However, MonHun has that covered now.
I like it. It reminds me of the VS battles in Lost Planet.
Yes. Current Switches have an unpatchable vulnerability in their bootROM. I suspect Nintendo is preparing a revision of the console without the exploit.
I’m not sure, to be honest. The vulnerability is pretty severe. It requires shorting a pin in the USB-C port to put the switch into USB recovery mode, but from there they can run arbitrary code in otherwise protected stacks. My guess is that this is going to lead to a full softmod in the next year or so.
Gears 4 –The Horde Report…
Early this morning I got in another full session of Horde; 1 to 50… yeah, a team of randoms that actually were in it for the long haul! It was a breeze because the 3 of us were playing our roles perfectly…yeah there was only 3 people… the other 2 dropped out early of course (ha, if only they knew how much exp they missed out on since we went all the way.) I was Engineer, there was someone playing a Scout, and the third person was on Sniper. I did my usual routine of making sure we had a healthy amount of sentries posted in strategic positions. Towards the end everything except the weapons lockers were fully upgraded to level 4…it was beautiful. I even got a Shock Sentry posted up too; never usually got those before. Four sentries posted behind red laser wires…THEN I had a turret posted behind that (this was on “Raven Down”, btw)…then I had “back-up” sentries behind this front defensive line…so anything (like the flying “Guardian” bots) getting past the front line still gets lit up by the sentries in the back. This defensive setup was fuckin GOLD.
So—I now have Engineer at level 10, along with my level 10 Scout and Heavy! Sheeeeit, this bonus exp is so good I may as well get the other 2 classes to level 10 as well. Anyone that wanted to get 1 or more of the character classes to 10, now is definitely the time with that juicy 5x exp going on.
looks like a combo of DMC reboot with DMC4.
the free cam and the way enemies explode from DMC reboot with classic DMC4 gameplay
i like it.
cant wait.
tho gamepad gameplay has gotta be changed with no more locked cam
So whats everyone got coming out soon?
I have Mario Tennis Aces coming out on the 22nd.
Octopath Traveler and Captain Toad Treasure Tracker on July 13th
September is a doozie of a month; Dragon Quest XI, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Spider Man and Spyro Remaster.
October I got Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal
December is Smash Bros Ultimate (though I may cancel this preorder)
I also went ahead and preordered the Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition for PS4. When I played the game on 360 I hated it. But my gaming tastes has changed a lot in 10 years so I figured I’d give it another chance.
And I also preordered the Collectors Edition of Kingdom Hearts III the other day. I think I’m the most excited about that, tbh. January can’t come soon enough.
I m definitely getting Yakuza Kiwami 2 first.
Then Shadow of Tomb and Spidey after (whichever has better reviews will be bought first)
Fist of The North Star is a definite in October.
Good lord. I’m late on COD news as of late, but I’m hearing that for Black Ops 4, you’re basically forced to buy the season pass to get the DLC maps now. Also, they released some DLC maps for Black Ops 3, but you have to pre-order BO4 through the PS Store (i.e. in a way that’s not easily refundable IIRC) to get them.
I was going to try the beta before hearing this shit, but now I’m not even giving BO4 a chance. I will ONLY buy that shit if you guys rave about how good it is. If this is what they’re pulling right now, who knows what trick bags they’ll let loose when the game hits. Christ.
Calm down. Nothing was confirmed about those MP maps you’ll gey in the black ops pass. It never says new maps. Just says maps. I assume they’re going to be classic maps. Wait and see. Also those maps aren’t even on Xbone so I don’t get anything. Furthermore the community is masochistic. They’ll bitch then buy whatever. Give it time.
I’m misreading you here (or vice-versa). I never said I cared anything about what type of maps are in the pass. I was hating on how it’s “all or nothing” now. Used to be, you buy the packs when they come out if they had a map you really wanted. Now you have to buy the “black ops pass” to get anything. The pass isn’t sold separately. It’s bundled with some fancy edition of BO4, and that’s the only way to get it right now. This shit, in a day and age where COD’s main competitors are starting to move away from map packs altogether, is just a blatant “fuck you” to the fans.
But like you said, fans are masochists and take every beating Activision will give out. Not me though. I am just bone sick of all the cash grabs while core issues like netcode are still unaddressed to this day. I skipped WWII and would have skipped IW had they not be holding MW4R hostage. Now I’m done. Until someone here says “BO4 is the best COD ever” after release, I’m not checking for BO4 at all. I make the distinction of “someone here” because the COD thread’s been dead for a while, even when WWII dropped. If BO4 can get that thread popping like the old days with positive buzz, then I’ll give BO4 a shot.
this seems to be the way they to mitigate the fragmentation of certains players who actually buy different maps (packs) instead of buying them all. the kind of person who buys one…maybe two and that’s it. trying to have the game coordinate who you can potentially match up with would be a pain in the ass.
Having said that, they need to simply state what you will get up front. that and if they REALLY want to do this. Make a Zombies pass, make an MP pass, make a all access pass or a buy as you go. Best way to do it…based on how Activision wants to handle this.
I’ll support BO4 but only because after I got to play it at their launch event. I liked what I played. It’s to me like BO2.5 No wall running over the top movement. Specialists with defined roles. and a better focus on team play. Everything I wanted so far. I haven’t bought a pass since BO3. Played MW1 after ponying up for IW and got over it. Playing WWII (it’s improved a lot since march) but all I play is Shipment 1944 and Ground War (both War mode and reg). Don’t need the map packs and I earn the guns in drops easily.
