This is why you can’t give character flaws, because people bitch that the flaws aren’t perfect enough.
There’s a lot to gripe on for both FFX and XIII and all Final Fantasies really. But holy shit, people seriously will bitch about any character who isn’t an instant badass in five seconds like Auron or Sabin.

This. I find it especially tiring because this has been, for a long time, a series centered around deeply flawed people attempting to make their way in a hostile world. A lot of central characters in the series are unpopular as a result because what flaws they have aren’t overblown or sexy. That’s the reason why Kefka is the most popular Final Fantasy character in the west.

People bitched about Lightning inability to emote. I like Auron but the guy is very bland in terms of character. FF instant badasses have a problem of not feeling like real people.

I highly disagree, Tidus wasnt abused.
Yeah Jecht was a shitty father who was never there as he chose his career over his family.
And the one flash back where he was a dick to his own boy isnt enough to say tidus was abused.
Black future 88 looks awesome until I saw the gameplay.

Can it really be called a day one patch? Thanks to Anthem’s convoluted release schedule some people have been playing it since the 15th
Nothing cool about emotionless robots either. 
Tidus has abandonment issues, not ptsd from abuse. Jecht been away so long he has no clue how to even relate to his own child and instead tries to make it up by being a harsh disciplinarian to “shape” the boy up. If Jecht was abusive his wife would also be a target, and I saw none of that. We got that Tidus got Daddy issues, and we got one scene where Jecht could of been supportive and not an asshole to boy Tidus.
Jecht was a man who was never home as when he was not playing professional blitz ball was training for blitz ball, and one day he went swimming out to see during a storm and never came back. He ended up in Spira and the rest of Zanakan (except Tidus) though Jecht drown at sea.

The physical heals, most times - especially if you are highly durable.
Jecht is an emotionally abusive asshole who didn’t understand how his behavior and attitude hurt his son. The neglect doesn’t make it any better. Tidus has perfectly justifiable reasons for hating his father. His wife isn’t a target as it’s implied she committed suicide.
