Video Game General 6.3: Sekiro has so many damn chickens man. Chickens Everywhere!

The man is 87 years old so I seriously doubt he knows how the modern industry works.

To be fair, DQ as a franchise is ran heavily on the push of Japanese gaming nostalgia, so I don’t know if the midi music is the composer 's decision or just part of their overall push.

As for his political and social leanings, yeah he is ignorant, but if it is up to each person to decide if that is enough to not warrant a purchase. I don’t even think he is the only composer these days he like Toriyama are pretty old and already rich.

No Man’s Sky gettjng an update next week

Actraiser’s music was incredible. But damn, the water level in Donkey Kong Country I think takes the cake for me. Or most of the music from Super Adventure Island. That shit was WWWAAAAYYYY ahead of it’s time as far as music goes.

In general, SNES has some really great music. The music in LTTP is also great. Same with Soul Blazer. Damn this list could probably go on and on and on…

Dragon Quest does run heavy on nostalgia but it has modernize where it matters. Be it presentation, visuals, and gameplay mechanics. It’s the composers decision to use MIDI as he owns the copyright of all the series music.

Please this, and please get to work on Saturn…

Since Atlus is a part of Sega, I would love for Maken X to make it over to Switch as well. Blue Stinger and Illbleed would be awesome too

@Million You’ll love Guacamelee. I have it on the Wii U, but I’m copping the second one when it hits Switch. I ignored it on PS4(came out in August) since I figured it’d be dropping on Switch, just not so soon. I believe part 2 is coming out before the end of the year.

September 2018 NPD numbers are up

PS4 was the top console for this month for an obvious reason…and that is the #1 game in the software spot for the month. Per a leak that happened earlier Switch came in 2nd and Xbone was 3rd. Apparently Xbone X’s are selling pretty well at the moment as the that is the highest sold sku for the year for Xbone’s at the moment.

Top 20 Software: Spider-Man, NBA 2K19, Ass Creed: Odyssey (This game made it to top 3 with only 2 days worth of sales), FIFA 19, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Dat Madden 19, Forza Horizon 4, Destiny 2, Super Mario Party, NHL 19, DQ XI (just short of top 10), WWE 2K19, GTA V, Mario Kart 8, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, Rainbow Six Siege, Crash N. Sane Trilogy, Super Mario Odyssey, LoZ:BotW, and Minecraft.

Spider-man did extremely well when it was released…to the point that it made 3rd best selling game of 2018 which you will see below. It outperformed every other new multiplat release for that month. So…single player games are not worth it eh?

Best selling games for the year thus far: Far Cry 5, God of War, Spider-Man, Monster Hunter: World, NBA 2K19, Dat Madden 19, GTA V, CoD: WWII, DBFZ, and Mario Kart 8.

Best selling games of the last 12 months: CoD: WWII, Super Mario Odyssey, Far Cry 5, Star Wars: Battlefront II, NBA 2K18, Ass Creed: Origins, God of War, Spider-Man, Monster Hunter World, and NBA 2K19.

Xbone top 10: NBA 2K19, Forza Horizon 4, Ass Creed: Odyssey, FIFA 19, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Destiny 2, Dat Madden 19, NHL 19, WWE 2K19, and GTA V

PS4 top 10: Spider-man, NBA 2K19, FIFA 19, Ass Creed Odyssey, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Dat Madden 19, DQ XI (heeeey not quite top 20 overall but made top 10 for the system though!), Destiny 2, NHL 19, and WWE 2K19

Switch top 10: Super Mario Party (people been waiting this long for a good Mario Party eh?), Mario Kart 8, Super Mario Odyssey, LoZ: BotW, Mega Man 11 (wow…didn’t show up anywhere else cept on Switch top 10), Mario Tennis Aces, Splatoon 2, DKC: TF, Monster Hunter: GU (nice!), and Crash N. Sane Trilogy (also nice!)

3DS top 10: Pokemon US, Pokemon UM, Mario Karty 7, Smash, Minecraft, SM3DL, Yo Kai Watch Blasters, Red Cat Corps, Warioware Gold, Mario Party The Top 100, and Yo Kai WAtch Blasters: White Dog Squad

This month I’m fully expecting a fight for the top spot to between CoD and RDR 2. Nov is still going to prob be CoD and RDR 2 and possibly Pokemon taking over the top 3 and then Smash is going to be running out of the game for the holiday season in Dec.

sugiyama imo is a musical genius.
lets be honest, the best thing about DQ8 is the music hands down.
but i also think he is 100% bat shit nuts.
reality is. people are like that.
like michael jackson with his weird obsession with reverting back to a child or wagner’s racist anti-semetic nonsense.
or bernini’s and carravagio’s criminal behavior. its sad but some artists arent very sensible, wise, or sane.
sad they shoot themselves in the foot and ruin their own legacy.

that said, if you own the pc version of DQ11 you can mod and switch out the midi soundtrack for the orchestral version like Pat did on his pc copy.
Pat from Super Best Friends Play.
get the pc version if you care about DQ music.
and yea, koichi is a douche.

The Jackson thing is pretty simple, his father stole his childhood from him and he spent his fortune trying to get it back.

Might as well play DQ8 then.

It is my pick for best DQ ever.

Yes, I have played all but 2, 3, and 10.

11 is second best.

I find everything else pretty much a toss up, barring 1 and 9… and 9 might merit equal footing if the DLC was still obtainable.

I think he only mentions it because he intends to get rid of it.

His choice, I guess.

I see it as a loss, but principles are something I can appreciate, even when I disagree with them.

If I were going to boycott every fun thing that some asshole happened to get attached to, there wouldn’t be very many places to visit on yea ole worldwide web.

I’m late to the party, but I just wanted to say that ActRaiser’s soundtrack is fucking amazing.

BFV designer and former ā€œproā€ Esports player gets banned from the recent CoD game for being too good.

yS: VIII has sold 500k copies worldwide and they’re releasing a funky Xmas edition of the game. If you like action RPG’s and haven’t played this game YOU’RE FUCKING UP. It’s my favorite action RPG of this entire generation next to Bloodborne, Dark Souls III and the Dragon’s Dogma re-release. It reminds me that I should seriously start playing Tokyo Xanadu EX+ ALPHA(there’s no alpha, I’m just trying to remember the glory days of SFEX1 on PS1.)

All of this [rightful] love for Actraiser’s soundtrack just makes me recall how vastly underappreciated the whole of Actraiser 2 was.

It was a mad solid SNES platformer.

Shame the lack of qua-world building apparently caused it to go overlooked by so many.

inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood is free on PSN for US* users with PS Plus. It’s a whopping dollar otherwise. I picked it up last year or so and almost finished it before I got distracted by other games. It’s pretty fun. I’d buy that for a dollar.gif

@Million would like it because it has vampires in it. :sunglasses:

I saw reading some of the NPD thread at ResetEra and the insiders there (with one who actually works for the NPD firm) were stating Spider-Man’s numbers were ā€˜absolutely insane’. To the point where it would hard for RDR2 and TLoU2 to touch them.

Which is pretty cool. The game was awesome and a nice break from Yakuza Kiwami 2 ( which was that much ore awesome). I’ll be buying Spider-Man 2 day one. Will wait for DEEP discounts on the DLC since that’s just how I roll.

Find it really weird that anyone would think that RDR 2 couldn’t do better than Spider-man.

Ah you go to Resetera… now everything makes sense.
