I should be getting FOTNS/maybe Megamang 11 on Friday/Sat. Maybe some other pick-ups too.
Donāt be sorry brah, I copy-pasted 99% of that post from my Steam review of the game.
You also canāt not like RPGās at all when youāre playing games with RPG elements in them.
Iāve beaten 100ās of games across a ton of different genres on handhelds, to arcades, to consoles, to PCās.
Path of Exile is like a top 10 game for me right now. Itās GOAT in itās genre and is one of the best games Iāve ever played period. Goddamn is it good. Every single person Iāve gotten to play the game has liked it too, which I think is a testament to how great the game is. THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of hours later and Iām still having a blast. My backlog has been eternally taking a backseat to this game.
Iāve hit all my goals for this league as well but thatās a post for another time. Edit: Oh yeah, I remember you talking about Torchlight II a while back. PoE takes a corn filled dookie all over it d00d and itās FREE.
Games are a huge time sink for me so I would rather play something from start to finish and then gauge if I wanna go for achievements and stuff if my schedule allows it. Other than that I go on to the next game I wanna play. PoE is kinda daunting since itās a commitment you consciously make when you wanna be OP and shit and I just canāt afford that. Torchlight II was a blast when it came out and I was looking for an alternative to Diablo back then.
Well, I also just finished NnK2 tonight. I was already at the final boss before I was away from home for a few months. Got back a couple days before DQ11 was released so NnK2 was shelved for a bit.
Probably should have finished NnK2 first because I felt pretty disgusted with how it ends and itās cheap post game that Iām not even gonna do. DQ11 is just that good.
NnK2 certainly doesnāt hold a candle to part 1. 2 has a better battle system and the kingdom building is fun, but everything else just screams rushed.
its interesting reading he banter between beginners and novices when your level is so far up its even hard to remember the difficulties of basic stuff.
ive got 500 hours in dead cells and beat the game max difficulty with 4 boss cells. so its really fascinating hearing you guys talk about the game.
id give you guys advice but the game is pretty straight forward. you just need practice thats all.
the only thing i can say advicewise is dead cells is all about strategy.
its a strategy game. its all about synergy.
synergy between your weapons and skills and buffs
synergy is key.
So first I played around 6 hours + normal mode and I thought the game was too easy. So I restarted the game and activated Stronger Monsters because I read that this was the original difficulty in Japan. I guess japan thinks that americans are weaksauce or something. I tried a few bosses with sword and shield because of defense but looking at the skills of greatswords I chose to respec, that and itās more badass and fun anyway.
i will post a S to C rank of weapons and skills that are just imo. noy fact. to help you know whats what.
hold on. brb.
im gonna group weapons shields and skills together make it easier for yall.
S rank stuff
ice bow
hokutos bow
infantry bow
heavy crossbow
lightning bolt
stun sheild
shield generating shield
shove shield
wolf trap
heavy turret
crusher
ice grenade
fire grenade
stun grenade
death orb
corrupted power
toxic cloud
wings of the crow
im gonna post this now but brb for the B and C list.
keep in mind synergy changes the ranking.
for example.
assassins dagger plus phaser makes dagger godlike. without it it drops down from S to C rank.
or swift sword without the mutation that lets you extend your speed buff x 3 is shit.
brb
thats my list.
tops for me
ice bow. wings of the crow.
worst of the worst for me.
cursed sword and swarm.
as for necklaces/amulet. anything that gives you āget gold as well as cellsā since it lets you reroll at th shop and save your money if you plan on leveling up your weapons to something S rank till the very end.
later.
I would put cursed sword in s-tier if the player knew what they were doing i.e. dodging like hell all the time. Ice bow and infinite quiver combo is gdlk imo and I think you missed lacerating aura which is a good alternative to death orb since the latter is hella difficult to get for casual players.
I learned to NOT unlock all of the blueprints and save up the cells for the forge instead so my equipment pool is pretty small.
My favorite amulet is the one that turns you invisible after 5 seconds without attacking, that shit is OP imo
Yeah, I did miss that. Itās a great support skill imo especially when you stack the tactics and mutations for high dmg output since itās a defensive skill as opposed to death orb. Itās a blast to use on S-tier for me.
The amulet for invisibility is more of a means to get to the final boss since purbeast is just starting out and having that buff is a godsend in High Peak Castle
It really depends on your build and gear when you play dead cells. I use aura of laceration more as a defensive skill where I activate it so I can move around/dodge without worrying that I would get blocked by mobs since I usually go for turrets and bows for attacking.
right.
like i said, synergy is everything. the tier ranking i put down has extraneous factors. weapons/skills can go up or down a rank depending what is has working with it. but on average, thats just my personal ranking for stuff.
i didnt write every item in its order of rank, generalized. but the point is you gotta think like Dead Cells is a strategy game. maybe like a rpg even in that you are prepping for the final boss as you progess. building your character in the most synergistic way you can. but tbh some items are shit trash while others are godlike.
Finally got to play Spider-Man after being to busy with work for the local RedBull Kumite qualifier. Gameās giving me mad feels. The way the gameās narrative makes it feel like you need to head to the main story missions while at the same time, distracting you with all these other things (crimes, challenges, etc.) really hits the whole āSpidey struggling to balace life and superheroingā even if thereās no real consequences gameplay-wise. Also, I really like how both nuanced and conflicted both Octavius and Li (Mr. Negative) are. Both feel like theyāre good people, just pushed over the edge, whose gaining powers enables their fall to being villains.
I got the L Heavy Crossbow for the first time ever yesterday and that thing was a beast. In the clock tower where you face those big samurai ninja guys and the ones that look like mega man, I would just use an ice grenade to freeze both of them, then 1 shot of the heavy crossbow would obliterate both of them. It was pretty easy to beat that level, but when I got to the Time Keeper, that thing was way too damn slow for me to use on him regularly. I almost beat him but nope, failed with like 20% of his health left. He moved around like shit and fast as hell in his last phase.
The wind-up on the crossbows are really risky but the dmg is great on mobs. Timekeeper is too fast for this and thatās where I use the turrets/traps to get the continuous dmg so I get to move around the fight arena to heal up or just for tactical advantage especially in the third half of the fight where she summons the swords from the sky to drop down on you. Spears and knives are great too, just watch out for her 3-hit combo and chain pull attack.
Also, you can roll in mid-air right after jumping to get some invincibility frames in a pinch if you canāt dodge roll on the ground
