Video Game General 6.3: Sekiro has so many damn chickens man. Chickens Everywhere!

The DualShock has been proving that for decades

Dualshock is a great controller. The only bad part is the triggers on the DS3

The Dual Shock is poor design that people got used to because the domination of the Playstation brand.

Nah, you just don’t like it. Maybe some people only like it because of some reason like that, but I definitely prefer it to most controllers

Edit: I’m not saying it’s impossible to improve or it’s the best possible, but I definitely prefer it to what else is available now. Especially the DS2, but the DS4 has a lot of aspects I like a lot too

The only way they could improve it, imo, is to have more face buttons.

The DualShock 2 & 3 are my favorite pads. I like the DualShock 4 as well, but I still prefer the D-pad and even the analogs on the DS2 & 3. The PSOne pad is really nice too, it feels better than the ol’ grey ones.

The Wii U ā€œProā€ controller is pretty awesome as well. I like how clicky it is.

The best controller would be a Vita in pad form. Imagine those clicky, responsive-ass buttons regular sized on a pad. :star_struck:

both controller’s Dpad suck.

even tho not a OEM controller from either company, i use the Gamesir controller. same bullshit but the difference is it has the godlike snes d pad cross design. doing SF moves on it feel wonderful.

I think the SNES dpad is worse than the DS ones. I know I’m I’m the minority there but I have way waaaay more trouble with diagonals on a SNES pad

Oh, is it time for a controller dick measuring contest already?

How is it a dick measuring contest? People are just talking about what controllers they prefer and what ones they don’t. It’s been a pretty civil conversation. Stfu

Maybe unpopular opinion, but I really liked the GameCube controller.

the major ones that stand out in a bad way for me…

  • TurboTouch = trash. I got it free via EGM back in the day.
  • Atari 2600’s default joystick
  • N64 - good thing I never wasted my money on that terrible system…why make this space-ship looking shit so huge? This was SO ass.
  • Original Xbox controller, nicknamed ā€œThe Dukeā€ - the best I can say is that it’s at least tolerable compared to the others I mentioned.

The SNES and Dreamcast pads are probably my least favorite. I remember writing a letter back in the day to Sega after the DC was unveiled about adding a second analog stick and putting diagnol bases (ala Saturn and Genesis 6 button) on them. VMU was awesome though. SNES I just wasn’t feeling shoulder buttons at the time.

I liked the GC controller more than I thought I would and it was surprisingly comfortable for games I had for it, for the short time I did have the system. I’ve seen at other boards people talking about the GC controller as the last ā€œstandardā€ controller during the Wii U Hate Boner days and Nintendo fans wishing they would go back to that design, but even that controller only catered to Nintendo games. Revisionist history is a helluva drug, lol.

I’d say the Wii U Gamepad and Pro controllers were Nintendo’s best with the Switch Joy Con not far behind…and yes I can play 2D games with it’s d-pad just fine.

Dualshocks are cool but they need to tighten up the analogs. After playing on the MS and Nintendo controllers there’ just too much dead space on them and they don’t feel tight like the controllers from their competition.

This thing was so damn dope

That and the Orginal SNES Hori Fighting Commander pad

The left analog stick has been in the wrong place on the dual shock since the first iteration. But that was okay back then because the d-pad was in the primary position and they literally tacked on 2 analog sticks. But to STILL have it in the wrong place, 4 iterations later, is just stupid since the majority of games use the analog stick as primary controls for movement with the left thumb.

As someone else mentioned, we’re all just used to it so we deal with it and think it’s good. Where the analog stick is on the Xbox controllers (and Switch Pro controller) is the correct primary position. The Switch Pro controller is probably the best controller I’ve ever used. Everything about it feels pretty much perfect. It fits like a glove.

Agree with you on the Switch Pro controller. To top it off it doesn’t have shit battery life like the DS4.

I personally like the analog sticks being symmetrical. That feels a lot more natural to me. I think the D-pad works better on the primary position when it comes to menu navigation and extra set of buttons.

Yeah I mean in the end it’s just personal preference. You’re probably just used to it by this point as many people are.

Would you say where the buttons are on the right side of the controllers are is considered the primary position? The buttons are used more than the right analog stick is for the most part for most games other than maybe FPS games. The control scheme matters too which is used more.

When you use retro controllers like a SNES pad, it doesn’t feel natural to you since it’s in a different location?
