Nintendo posted their recent financials. As of right now Wii U is sitting at 6.17 consoles sold LTD with 2.7 of that coming from last year. 3DS sales are far more positive but they fell short of expectations. Theyâve stated that in order for them go back into making profit they need to sell 3.6 mill Wii U consoles and 12 mill 3DS consoles in 12 months. I actually think this shouldnât be a problem considering what they have on the horizonâŠmy concern is if the share holders are going to try to boot Iwata out of his seat before any of this stuff takes into affect.
Iâd hate for Iwata to get booted. He might get replaced with some yes man whoâll send Nintendo in the wrong direction. Remember that one investor who suggested paying for Mario to jump higher?
The other reason I hope Iwata doesnât get canned is because heâs one of the few people who puts a face on the company. Nintendo could easily have someone else host the Directs, but I think itâs cool that the president is doing them himself (Reggie too). Heâs also appeared on Game Center CX a few times. How many presidents do you know engage with their fanbase directly (see what I did there)? Then thereâs the âIwata Asksâ series. Letting him go would be a big mistake IMO.

because that would be Nintendo quiting its guise, Nintendo being the only thing left of a family entertainment system. sony to a much lesser extent tries to be but xbox/ps are both ruled and plagued by sales of random money making franchises, both consoles happily chasing the money

Thereâs no reason to. Nintendo has their own hardware to support. Going multiplatform basically means theyâre throwing that hardware away.

Whenever I read these reports on Nintendo it amazes me at how seemingly out of touch the company is. Just take a look at their projections:
They were off by 6.3 million in their projected Wii U sales. Then their profit projections were a staggering 146 billion yen off the mark.
The error margins in these projections are simply unreal to me. If they were playing darts theyâd be aiming for the bullseye and not even hitting the wall the board is hung on.
Sonyâs E3 gameplan may have been leaked.
It mentions progress on Last Guardian, so it must be fake. But thereâs not a single Vita game on there, so it could be trueâŠ

For many people Nintendo is the last bastion for creativity in the Video Game industry. Not just with their games but their consoles as well. Only Nintendo can come up with something like the DS and make it work.

Old, but I just read it all. Anyone who is worried about Nintendoâs future hasnât read this Iwata is a genius and Nintendo will only continue to improve, Iâm really excited about everything they have planned and expect a big public turn around.
I hope Iwata gets kicked the guy has been shit for business since the end of the wii. Itâs his decisions that have directly lead to the biggest failure in gaming history with the WiiU. Letâs get in someone fresh with a new vision and mindâŠIwata needs to step down if the Nintendo has any hope to recover.
