DW is like Madden, you buy it every 5 years or so.
And if you want challenge from them, play on the harder modes.
Last DW I bought was 4 and Tactics for PS2 though lol. Probably going to get HW on sale.

I think DLC is fine when it’s content that isn’t already pretty much done during the game’s initial development and then withheld for extra money (A reasonable example of this I can think of is something like that extra character in Borderlands 2…an unreasonable example is SFxT because I have NO idea how they got away with that)
If they keep working on stuff after the game hits shelves, no big deal in my eyes, most of the time. Granted there’s grey areas, but that’s the gist of my thoughts.
Hyrule Warriors also offered free DLC to make playable what’s already on the disk (like certain villain characters) and even added new modes/content on top of it. In this day and age, I think that’s the closest we’re going to get to DLC plans that aren’t completely evil.

Depending who you talk to it also falls under “that shit used to be unlockable for free! /outrage” category too.
Personally I don’t care but call a spade a spade.
Ok well if were going to call a spade a spade then you have to understand that most shit that used to be unlockable was unlockable because it was there to add to playtime. Up until God of War came out if your game had a sub 40 hour playtime it got blasted in the reviews, the industries answer to this was to reuse assets and either add backtracking or make content unlockable after in-game requirements were met.

Bloomberg has an article about the localization challenges they (and any other market entrant) will face. I’d certainly be surprised if the legitimate, heavily-censored, only-purple-blood-allowed (why not sweat/milk/cum?) channel outperforms the black market one. But I suppose that’d be hard to gauge.
Everyone knows that people will end up buying the bootleg Ewks Bawks Won (which is really a grey market clone of the Ouya) for the fraction of the price of the real thing, it runs on Android and it emulates PS1 and SNES games.
LOL those Chinese crowds are just sampling the games so they’ll know which ones to download and pirate when they return home.
It’s all made during initial development. It goes through more bug testing and balancing, but that stuff is made alongside development. Doesn’t matter who it’s coming from.
Hey, speaking of the thread title, “Live-action trailers for games, etc”…why didn’t anyone raise a fuss when the trailer for Sleeping Dogs and the actual game had totally different premise?
Trailer plot: Chinese gang member gets tired of being jerked around and wants out, at all costs, not caring who he offs on his bid for freedom. Interesting and exciting.
Game plot: Character is cop working undercover in the chinese gang world…done to fuckin’ death.
I’ve been raising a fuss over misleading game trailers since MGS2.
MGS2’s trailer: You play as Solid Snake.
Actual game: You play as Raiden.
But you did play as Solid Snake. Just never told you for how long.

Actually the live action trailer that they put out for Sleeping Dogs does a nod to him being an undercover cop at the end. Considering what I’ve watched of my wife playing the game the live action trailer does a fairly decent job of portraying some of the things you do in that game. Combat isn’t THAT fluid though lol. I mentioned when they first released it that they should have put some gameplay footage out first IIRC.

Anyone picking up this game today? Reviews seem pretty positive for it so far and we’ve had a lot of last minute people preordering it this week.

I actually liked the Halo live action commercials but still wasn’t enough to get me to buy it. Still got me to pay attention though. Surprisingly I liked the CoD ones that display reg people playing as if they’re literally in a Multiplayer map. Doesn’t take itself all serious and caters to the target audience.
SoM is Assassin’s Creed meets Arkham. Killing orcs is immensely satisfying. I haven’t even gotten to the part where I can control them yet. Good game is GUD.
